Harvest Time.....

Here's the neighbor man and his uncle combining soy beans. This field was done that afternoon.
They load the big wagon and take them to the co-op. Everything is dusty when they are done. It's a time of year where you have to drive the roads with care. Not just for the farm equipment , but some times for the animals stirred up. I saw a dear come from a field on Monday and a raccoon this morning.
The bees are working over the sedum. My flash would not work, because it was too light out. But I did get pretty close to this bee. He was so busy, that I don't think he cared I was so near. Hope you have a great day xo.

  1. We have very little picked around here and nothing close to me. They got stuff in really late around here. The guys are just itching to get in there and get it done. Love your photos...Steve said this morning they might be working into Thanksgiving now. At least it will be cooler for them. Have a fun weekend.

  2. Lots of bees in my yard too. Love your pictures. We don't see scenes like that in the big city. ;)

  3. Hi Susie,
Yesterday I was driving on a country road and a farm machinery truck thing was coming at me taking up the whole road! I didn't know what to do because I couldn't get off to the side of the road...but he did. Thank goodness. That bumble bee doesn't care about you right now. Really. He/she is just interested in the flower. You could probably have pet it. Seriously. I saw someone pet one years ago. I'm going to try to go to Horton's tomorrow, probably won't make it to the New Earth Festival (which my sister calls the dirt festival, for no reason except she thinks she's funny!) It's a bit crowded and I have a reunion to get ready for...maybe next year.

  4. The roads around our house are mostly narrow lanes. At this time of year we are forever getting stuck behind slow-moving farm vehicles. Still, it gives us time to take in the lovely views.

  5. My first job was working on a farm, a potato farm to be exact and farming is hard work! I worked on a harvester one year as well, I have so much respect for people that work our land!
I hope you have a great weekend Susie!
