Here's the first Wooly Worm I have seen this year. He's very pretty...but ewweee, I am not touching him, he has those little prickly feet.
It's been super windy the past two days. Gusts up to 40-50 miles an hour. Better tie it down or it's gone.
This is a shot of the hickory tree (topless). The pines are across from it, opposite sides of the driveway. The hickory was a tall as the pines before that bad storm this year.
No leaves on our little trees after that wind. It's been very chilly in the mornings. Frost . I think most all the crops are in around here...see some patches of replanted beans. We have been wearing heavier jackets. I think it's still very nice out. I am going to love every sweet day I can get.
Just want to offer prayers for the people of France. XO
It's very windy here, too! No leaves on the trees, but plenty on the ground! I'm with you about the fuzzy worm. Cute to look at, but not to hold.
ReplyDeleteenjoy the sunshine, Susie.
Hugs, and love.

Debbie, we had cleaned our yard of leaves before this big wind...this was one time I was glad the leaves, well most, were already gone. Our neighbors out here never rake. Of course to ones on the west thankfully only have the fruit trees....no big leaves. I am hoping we can squeeze the last bit of Autumn out of November into December .. That hoping for a lot. Debbie, I am just not ready for winter...I should start sewing or painting again...something to fill the gray days. Hope Santa Claus brings me some motivation for Christmas. LOL. Hope you are doing well and your family. .Praying for all. Love you, Susie
DeleteSomeone told us that you can look at the color of a wooley worm and tell how cold the winter is going to be. The problem is....I forgot which color she said was the sign of a very cold winter. I THINK she said that if it is all dark (brown) that the winter will be cold. This is an "old wives" tale....but sometimes the old timers know a lot more than we do.
ReplyDeleteSending hugs,
Jackie
Jackie, I have heard about the colors for years...but can't remember which is which. :):) A lot of old folk tales are so true. Hope you are having a fun weekend, xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt really looks like late fall where you are. Here it is in the mid to high 70s and the trees are still mostly green with lots of leaves. Isn't it something how the weather is so different in the various parts of this big country of ours.
ReplyDeleteKathy, It is looking like winter is coming...but the sun shined today all day...so pretty. You know there are some trees that turn late...there is a few of them around town. But our here it's kind of bare. Hope you are feeling better today. Bless you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh that's what is going on! The wind is howling here tonight. Nasty and cold. Supposed to be warmer next week, though. Yes, our minds are on France.
ReplyDeleteVee, The sun shone all day...so pretty and finally the wind did stop. It blew for two days. I hope you do get nice weather...our is to be nice again tomorrow , then be rainy for about three days. Oh boy that can be depressing. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo,Susie
DeleteNope, winter's not far. We had snow flurries in the air yesterday. The snow can hold off for several months as far as I am concerned.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I totally agree...let that snow hold off , clear into Jan or Feb .LOL I am just no where near ready for that. I still have not gotten my snow shovel out. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI don't think winter is ever coming! It's supposed to get back in the 70's here next week! They are calling it a late Indian Summer
ReplyDeleteAngie, I'll take a nice Indian Summer. I can remember when we have eaten dessert outdoors on Thanksgiving. It's pretty all weekend here...but come Monday we are in for 3 days of rain. Blessings to you and yours, Susie
DeleteIt is STILL not cold in Texas!!! So far we are keeping doors open during the day and sometimes at night too! Crazy weather!
ReplyDeleteLinda, It's amazing you can have the doors open in Nov. This weekend has been so pretty out...but Monday will so different, rain for 3 days is predicted. I am sure not ready for snow....that can hold off for me. My granddaughter Lynzie will be having her baby the first week of Dec....and I would love to be there and not drive in snow. LOL. I am not as fearless as I once was. Blessings, love you, Susie
Deletep.s. are you two resting some??
Good Morning Susie. We had those same winds here and it did blow all the leaves off our trees too. This week end has been pleasant and sun filled. Loving that. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteKris
Kris, Weren't those winds fierce? I am so glad it calm down here. I brought in so much from my porch , I am seriously thinking of starting my Christmas décor. LOL. Blessings to you and Terry....you are in my prayers, xoxo,Susie
DeleteIt's raining here lately, Susie, and we really need the rain! It's supposed to rain a lot in the days ahead too. I haven't seen one of these wooly worms in so long. They're kind of cute, but I agree, no touching for me hehehe.
ReplyDeleteMay the light shine on the people of Paris right now.
love, ~Sheri
