Up early on Thursday morning, heading into town. Caught a nice sunrise.
Going by the little whole in the wall café in the north part of town. They do breakfast and lunch only. Always full.
Sun shining on the bell tower of the Methodist church. I love hearing their bells , especially at Christmas time.
We are coming out of the alley onto Jefferson street...going to the bank. Ted always takes this alley and I never do. Sun shining on our courthouse.
Done at the bank on our way out of town. Driving by the hospital and the water tower.
All this driving was so we could get to the heart clinic. Ted gets a yearly check up , this being his 15th year. He got a wonderful report.
I want to tell you why he does this. Fifteen years ago...one morning we were going to go play golf, Ted was a bit irritable. He was sweating. We had just gone by the bank that day too. He said he wanted to go back home and lie down for a bit since we had some time. I asked , "just how do you feel?" He said he felt a bit nauseous. I said , "Ted, your are sweating, irritable and now feel sick...those are signs of a heart attack." He said, " let me lie down for about 5 minutes."..I said then here take these aspirins, and I gave him two aspirin. He was lying down for two minute and jumped up and said my arm hurts...so I drive him to the hospital myself and take him in ER and tell them he's having a heart attack.
He gets hooked up and they give him clot busters...I told them of the aspirins. They put him in an ambulance and he is on his way to the heart clinic in the next town. The doctor there does a catheterization . Ted had a 98 % blockage and two tinier ones. They asked us what we wanted to do...do a stent, or take some meds , or just go home and see if it happens again. Ted said , "Let's do the stent." That is what happened 15 years ago....Ted was only 48 then.
The doctor who did the stent is Ted's heart doctor. He called it a heart episode...not an attack ...because he got the clot busters and there was no damage to his heart. I am asking all of you to know the signs of a heart attack. It's important.
Snowing here today. :( Be safe. XO
Fun to see photos of your area! Glad your hubby is doing well...must have been a scary time, but it sounds like he got all the right treatment! My own husband got his first pacemaker at 45, and we are very grateful they helped him early...
ReplyDeleteLinda, Men will some time ignore things...so I was thankful that we were not on the golf course already and that I was with Ted at the time. I think he would have not done anything. I did not want him to lie down, I wanted him to go to the hospital as soon as I heard how he felt. We are blessed that he got good care. Hope your husband is doing well also. Bless you both, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo glad your husband got a good report today. I'm glad you knew the signs of heart problems and got him immediate help years ago. Continued blessings to you both.
ReplyDeleteBeauuuuutiful photos of the morning sun. Thank you for taking us with you on the lovely drive this morning.
Thank you Jackie. I am happy that my husband is healthy.. It's not often that I can catch a sunrise...there only a certain time of year where it looks like it rise up out of the road...I have too many wooded areas on both side of the road here, to the east. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh wow Susie..that was good you got him to the doc!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely town..pretty sunrise and glow too..
fun love 'the little whole in the wall type cafés'
we have some pretty snow hills too (:)
hugs,Patty
Patty, I am glad I was with Ted when he showed signs of an attack..otherwise he may have just ignore it...you know men do not like to go to the drs. We got 6 inches of snow or more...it's warmed a bit about an hour ago and it was melting but snow at the same time. It covered everything and was a white out most all day. Blessings for a good evening and beautiful Sunday. xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo very grateful that Ted is still with you today, 15 years post his episode! God is good! Thank you for sharing the beauty of your morning! Blessings, Cindy xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy, Yes, I am thankful that we got to the drs. in time so many years ago. Ted has good health and stays on top of his yearly exams. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
Deletewow...so young to go through all that!! Good thing you were aware of the signs! SNOW??? Keep it there - flurries are in our forecast for tomorrow - ugh!!
ReplyDeletePatti, we got so much more snow than predicted. I feel so isolated here when it's like this. But Chicago got lots more than we did. So I am thankful we did get their snow. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteHi Susie, Thank God Ted's heart condition was caught early enough to not have heart damage. Being aware of the signs is so important and saved his life.
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing 15 years ago.
Your town looks like a lovely place to visit. Love your photos.
Have a great weekend and Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for stopping by and your kind comment. xo
Celestina, I love my hometown so much. Thank you for the Thanksgiving day wishes. Hope your day is filled with love and god food. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteSo great you knew something was not right with Ted and you knew the signs of a heart attack. So happy he got a good report today. That is good to go into the holidays with this blessing. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ohhhhh Susie we got over 15 inches of snow up here. I guess winter is here!!!
ReplyDeleteKris
Kris, I always feel better when Ted gets his yearly report.:) I knew you got a ton of snow...my daughter was stuck on the runway at O'Hare..till they finally took them back to the terminal and deboarded. She surely will get out this morning. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving day .Blessings and be safe, xoxo,Susie
DeleteHow wonderful that you were alert to the signs of heart attack! And - how smart that Ted keeps up with these checks! xo Nellie
ReplyDeleteNellie, I am not so sure if I had not been with Ted at the time ..if he would have heeded to signs. I am thankful he is healthy and still with us. He has a great dr. too. Blessings for a good day there. We have snow . xoxo,Susie
DeleteGlad that he got a good report! Boy, that would have been scary for the two of you to go through 15 years ago. Glad you realized the symptoms and got him to the Er! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Jann, I am so thankful Ted went ahead with the stint at that time. I think men ignore the signs and should get help. Thank you for the Thanksgiving day wishes and I truly wish you the same. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThanks for sharing this, Susie, and I know it must not have been an easy thing. I'm so happy that Ted passed his tests with flying colors---I know the waiting game very well.
ReplyDeleteI recently learned of the not so commonly known heart attack symptoms, the nausea was a surprise and the pain not only affects the left arm but the right as well. I think it's great that you posted this as it may help others. I've heard we should all keep plain aspirin in our home, it's a life saver until help comes. It must have been so hard to go through this, but you kept your head on straight and i admire you for that.
:)

Blondie, Here at holiday time...people need to be aware of the signs of a heart attack...many happen at this time. It can be so different for each person too. Be safe in all that snow up there. Blessings to all of you for a beautiful Thanksgiving. xoxo,Susie
DeleteWow Susie, so glad you got Ted help and more importantly HE LISTENED to you when you said to go to hospital. My Shug would probably ignore the symptoms and not tell me.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed here in Ft. Wayne too. We are on our shopping trip.
Cindy Bee
Cindy, Ted did want to go to the hospital when I first mentioned it. But once he laid down and got the pain in his arm he realized it was an attack. I hate to think what would have happened if I had not been with him. Men tend to ignore the warning signs. The dr. told Ted it would have been the one called the widow maker. Scary. I am thankful he is healthy and still here. This is a good time of year for everyone to know the signs. Be safe up there in that snow. Blessings for a great Thanksgiving, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI went through a similar situation with my mom. She ended up having a heart attack but recovered and lived into her 80's.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it turned out well for you and your husband.
Ugh! Snow! It's only a matter of time.
Boston Boy, This is the time of year when people need to know the signs of a heart attack. My mother had a quad by pass when she was 63 and lived to be 83...it wasn't her heart that caused her death it was carelessness at the hospital after she had a bit of her colon removed. I think they gave her too much pain med...she went so deep asleep she could not expel her on carbon dioxide and her kidneys failed. I miss her still. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI didn't know about Ted's heart condition!!! Louis Dean had his heart attack WHILE HE WAS IN THE HEART CATH LAB so the doctors were already working on him and this he suffered little heart muscle damage either!! Good for you in whisking him to the ER!!!
ReplyDeleteThey say women do not necessarily present the same way as men.....we may need to research that a bit!!!
Oh Susie, that must have been so scary for Ted and You. I'm so glad to hear he's ok after all of that. Thank you for letting us know of the warning signs of heart attack. The café looks so charming. Those little hole in the wall places are the best. And I love this picture of the sun shining on the bell tower, that's so cool.
ReplyDeleteGreat news about Ted's yearly check up. : )
