This is the front page of the Indianapolis Star...End Of An Era, Peyton Manning is retiring from playing football. I don't usually give a hoot about pro football...not since Mike Ditka coached the Bears. LOL I remember when Walter Payton who played for the Bears was called Sweetness. Oh and he was pure Sweetness. But I think our own Peyton(spelling differs) is very sweet too.
Here's some quick stats.18 seasons,2 Vince Lombardi trophies, 4 super bowl appearances, 5 time MVP, All-Time Leader in passing yards(71, 940)Most touch down passes in a season 55, The only quarterback to lead two different teams to super bowl victories. Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.
Here's photo of Peyton and Irsey.
Here Payton is with coach Dungy. Love Dungy too. I do not think I have ever seen or heard of Dungy throwing any hissy -fits on the side lines. :):) I just wanted to have my say in celebrating Peyton Manning career in playing football. I am almost sure he'll be involved with the sport in some way, for a few more years.
Hope you have a good day and are a good sport. :) XO
I think Peyton is a good guy. Going out on top is the way to go!!
ReplyDeleteI think so too. He has a children's hospital in Indianapolis. He has done a lot of good for others. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteIs Peyton the son of Archie, who played for LSU when I was there? I wonder. Archie Manning was a really good guy and a good student, too. Very gracious to everyone even though he as the big hero.
ReplyDeleteArchie Manning is the father of Peyton and Eli. He also has an older son , Cooper. I only know that Archie quarterbacked for Ole Miss during his college years. I think the whole family are very nice people. They can be proud of their sons. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteOh gosh, I'm getting old. Yes, he then played QB for the Saints - getting my LSU days and New Orleans days mixed up -and the sports - It was Pistol Pete who was Big Man on Campus at LSU for basketball - gosh - !
DeleteI heard that on the news yesterday....I guess it's time!
ReplyDeleteI just watched it live on TV...broke my heart for him...he cried and choked up a few times. He'll be okay with his sweet family. I cried when I retired, thinking oh my gosh for the first time in 30 years I no longer have a job. So I sure he'll have days that he will miss playing. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI like your tribute to him. Guys like him are few and far between.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nonnie. I watched his speech on TV and it made me cry. He is a good person. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteEven non-football fans have heard of Peyton Manning. He's some player. xo ~ Nancy
ReplyDeleteHI Nancy, All those Manning fellows are great guys. Hope you are doing well and getting nice weather. xoxo,Susie
DeleteI like this. I'm a big fan Of Peyton and hate to see him go but was expecting it.Like you, I don't pay much attention to Football but I like him. Hugs and Blessings, xo
ReplyDeleteHi Susie, It was sad to watch his speech and see him choke up and cry. I cried from watching...But it's best he goes before he's hurt seriously and can't recover. Hope you are doing better this week. Bless you dear friend, love you, Susie
DeleteHe was one of the best, we like his brother Eli too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janet, We like Peyton and Eli. It kind of broke my heart for Peyton when he choked up and cried today. I know he will probably stay involved in Football in some way. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteHe's certainly a hero in Nashville. My DIL is in love with him.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, It's nice that your DIL thinks of Peyton that way. :):) We need heroes. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI'm glad Peyton is retiring while he is at the top of his game. My favorite quarterback of all time is Joe Montana. I got to meet him after he retired and stood thisclose for a photo. It was fun to see him in person even tho he was no longer playing. Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I am happy for Peyton to be able to retire before he's injured again. We always like Joe too. He was a good guy too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
DeleteWe have always liked Peyton. With all his acheivements he seems humble and really did have a magical way of reading the defense...loved to watch him play. He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteWanda, I think Peyton's humility is part of his charm. Glad he has a sweet family . Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Hi Ellen, Thank you for stopping in. I think Peyton will be missed so much. Indy's been missing him since he left. He has a children's hospital on the North side of Indy. He has don't a lot for sick children here. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo,Susie
DeleteThere's no doubt that Peyton Manning was a great player. You have to understand that I am in the enemy camp up here in New England. Seriously I have nothing bad to say about Peyton except, enough with the commercials, at least around here.
ReplyDeleteBoston Boy, LOL...I think Peyton and Tom Brady got along well. He thank Tom in his speech yesterday. :) Some of Peyton commercial make me laugh. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
DeleteI think it's great that you keep up with the football players and their stats, Susie. I really never give much thought to it, except when my son played football in high school. Then, I watched the game very closely. :)
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Sheri, I honestly took those stats from the paper...I loved Peyton but I never followed pro football...I like college ball better. I always got a laugh from watching Ditka, that's why I would watch the bears. My sport of choice for over 20 years was Nascar racing. But I have never enjoyed watching sports on TV other than the games leading to the Olympics. Loved ice skating. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
