This is the small town of Kirkland, Indiana. A clean town that has many junk and antique shops.
The main intersection is decorated for autumn. So cute.
This is my daughter Kathy, looking thru folds of materials and old patterns. She is the seamstress in our family. :):) Kathy came down from Goshen to spend the weekend with me.
This is the White River Mercantile. It has so many wonderful goodies to choose from. Believe me Deb, I wanted to take all these home...but could not as I am still sorting years of cards from my children and friends.
A sweet little hanging hutch of blue transfer ware. Love that square dish.
I truly wish I had checked the price of this jar of buttons...as Kathy and I talked about on the way home and later. It had to weight 10 pounds or more. LOL
This was a beautiful tea set , the real McCoy too.
I did not ask the price, I just looked for the name. :):) The young lady that was running the shop was so nice and kind. She said that she will have a booth at the Horton's Autumn Market on the 24th of September. Next Saturday.
Here's an awesome stained glass window. It was on a chain so it could be hung in your own window.
After going thru two shops Teddy Bear was ready for some lunch. We went down the street to a place called Bookers. They had a nice assortment of foods on the menu. But as I heard Ted order this crispy fires, hot pepper cheese deluxe burger....well I said I would have the same.
I have to show the restroom at the café. An old rusty gate hanging on the dry brush painted walls. I just loved this rustic look.
An old chippy window with pretty paper behind if and a shelf that can hold an old watering can. On the back of the toilet was a box with fake flowers and a faucet attached to the corner of the box...as if you could turn it on to water the flowers. Really cute.
I have more picture I will show thru this coming week. So far , my weekend has been very busy. I will be ready for bed tonight. LOL. I want to rest up for next Saturday. Besides Horton's and the peddlers market in Tipton, 5 miles south in Atlanta Indiana , they are having earth day fest. I won't go to that....too much walking for me in one day. I used to join all my girls and we would walk the town's festival over and over. I don't do miles and miles any more. Wish I could.
Happy Sunday to all. XO
Susie, looks like a charming town to visit! I love Indiana! Use to spend a few weeks in Hanover on the Ohio River in the summer when the kids were growing up. In-laws grew up there and so many family members went to Hanover College. We are from Texas and always loved out trips to Indiana. Our grandson just started his first year at Hanover College and will be playing Lacrosse!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday!
Nancy
Nancy, I bet with family in In. you feel okay about your son attending Hanover. My g.son played Lacrosse in H.S. and wanted to in college but Ball State didn't offer it there. By the time he went to Utah in SLC, he had lost interest. Hope you are doing well. Blessings for a great day there. xoxo, Susie
DeleteSounds like a fun day in Kirkland, Susie. And that burger and fries looks great! The town looks so festive with all the pumpkins. I love those sweet Valentine cards. And the blue dishes are so pretty. I know what you mean about walking miles and miles. My feet start to hurt when I walk too far. Looking forward to seeing more goodies at Horton's. Be sure to show us what you buy. :)

Sheri, Each place in that small town had an autumn decoration in front. The corners had scarecrows , pumpkins and hay bales. I love it . Plus mums in planters. I really wasn't looking for anything to buy. I did get a great candle. Kathy bought some bracelets and a scarf. Ted came along for the food. LOL. Blessings, love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI know you enjoyed all those treasures. I am a sucker for antique greeting cards, fall decorations, and of course, French Fries!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I just came so close to buying a stack of old letters...but I am trying to clear out so much here at home, that I just could not justify it.:( I love seeing old valentines too.Bless you, xoox, Susie
DeleteI love going thru places like this..like you, I don't walk it as much as I used to...
ReplyDeleteBJ, Bad feet and ankles is no picnic, is it? I love looking at things from days of old and one shop , the sweetest older (than me) lady taught me something. I Love when that happens. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love cute quaint and quirky bathrooms! I ALWAYS go to the bathroom and it's so much fun when it's a cute one - wonder why more people don't fix theirs up? As in businesses? At the ranch my stepson has a shower house with toilet, sink and shower. I am dying to get in there and 'decorate' it! It already has tin on the lower walls but the rest is unfinished. I would use the old license plates he has laying around the place. I could go crazy with it....but so far I have not said a word. Maybe someday I'll ask him....that't the shower we use when we stay at the camper.
ReplyDeleteLinda, I think Dean would be proud to have you use those licenses plates to decorate . I think it would be very cute. When I saw that gate on the wall I just loved it. My daughter laughed when I asked the waiteress if it would be ok for me to take a picture. I like the window with the shelf as a sill . So many cute ideas. Blessings, xoxo, love , Susie
DeleteThanks for the tour Susie. I'm looking forward to seeing your pics from next weekend. Wish I could go. Loved the restroom.
ReplyDeletePeggy, Some sad facts about antique shops...they are so crowded that when people are in there it's hard to shop. LOL Hope you are doing well and wish you could go to Horton's this weekend . Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat stained glass window stole my heart!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty piece....it had an 85 dollars sticker on it. But very pretty. Would be so nice for the sun to shine thru it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSounds like a great day Susie. Glad you could spend time in Kirkland. Have a great new week.
ReplyDeleteKris
Kris, It was more fun with my daughter Kathy along...we never get to be together as much as we would like. She lives 2 hours away and works so much. I don't do 4 hour drives as easily any more. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat's a lot of buttons..Love the transfer ware..and the lunch!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great little town to browse in..
Missy, I could see my twins, if they were young, trying to count all those buttons. They counted each other chicken pox when they had them. LOL. I may go back thru that little town some time. It's not far away. Blessings to you, hope the pets are well. xoxo, Susie
DeleteLooks like a fun day! Always nice to spend it with a daughter! That looked like a lot of valentines! The window was pretty, too!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I love being with my daughters any chance I can get. We used to always go to the Earth Festival...but my feet won't do it any more. I miss those good fun time. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLooks like such a fun town. I would love to shop in those fun stores! I have a jar of buttons in my craft room. Many were my dear mothers.
