Work, Glorious Work......

I have to  glamourize this post. LOL   Here's some lovely blue and white bags of cement mix...can just about go with anything in your wardrobe that has stains , rips , and holes. :):) 11 bags weighing  60 pounds each.
A very neutral stack of pressure treated lumber with hints of green. So pleasing to the eye,  but hard to carry. Wow...this wood hauling tested my metal ....maybe not Ted's . :) So much for glamour. This is going to be the deck at the back door.
I have been meaning to show all of you our corn crop.  Yes, it's official we are farmers..  It may not count if squirrels did the planting. I have just been letting this grow to see how tall it would get. So crazy.   ZZZ... I must be about bored out of my mind.
Oh at last , some of my favorite stuff.... This is Wednesday's sunset. Very golden .
Facing toward town the same time.
Yesterday's noontime sky. I love the puffy white clouds.
Early this morning. It's going to be another beautiful day. The AC is turned off for now and the windows are open. I am loving that. Fresh air blowing thru the house.  Don't all of you just love when you do not have to have the  heat or AC. on ?
Enjoy your weekend , please be safe. XO

  2. My Windows have been open since May! There's a gorgeous cool breeze today, and the sun is shining - what a glorious day! Hard to believe that just a few hours from us there's a monster storm brewing - I sure hope those people take shelter and are safe!

    1. Wow, it must have been so nice to have the windows open so much. I do love your bedroom window where you have coffee and listen to birds. That would be a perfect spot. Blessings honey, yes, it's scary what damage can be done by those storms. I am praying they go out to sea. xoxo, Susie

  3. The lifting isn't so fun, but won't it be wonderful to sit out on a new deck in a little while! -Jenn (did you know they now make pressure treated lumber that is more of a brown / cedar colour?)

  5. I know your new deck will be wonderful, once the work is done. I too love having the windows wide open and feeling the breeze blowing-it already feels like fall. I don't want to rush it though, because we all know what comes after fall.
    Have a great weekend.

    1. Vee, Oh no, Ted and I did it together. We will build this little deck together also. It's easier with two people. This wee deck is going to make carrying in the fire wood this winter a whole lot easier..we will put the backdoor wood box on it. Isn't that one stalk of corn so silly...I am going to save it for fall decorating. :):) Blessings to you girl, xoxo, Susie

  9. You are so clever! I can see you and Ted now on a box of Post Toasties! Isn't that the cereal that had the farmer and wife on it?
You photos of the sky are lovely! You really do get such good shots!
I have honeysuckle bushes that the birds planted for me ! I'd watch and keep that stalk of corn for the memory!

    1. Linda, I am going to save that corn stalk for my fall décor on the porch. :):) I know a squirrel planted it. Some time we find ears of field corn in the yard. I wish our birds would plant me some honeysuckle.:) I have a couple of hard busy weeks ahead of me. I will be ready for vacation soon. Hope your next surgery goes well. It should not be as troublesome as your last one. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

  12. Those squirrels did a great job of planting and growing their corn. They must think that it is going to be a hard winter.

I bet you are getting excited to see the concrete bags and boards ready for the new deck that will be installed. How great!

Yes, I love this weather. I even sleep better.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and don't work too hard!

    1. Oh I am praying our winter isn't a rough one...but this summer sure was. I begged my husband to let us go really slow on this deck. I have a festival to attend this next Friday and I do not want my feet wore out. Arthritis you know. It's horrid after long periods of standing or squatting. Blessings to you and your family...enjoy the holiday. xoxo, Susie

  14. Oh, I wish we had much cooler temps! I can't wait for cool, crisp mornings to enjoy and take long walks.

I so hope you're not going to be lifting any of the deck supplies! My back hurts just looking at it. :)

    1. Pat, I usually try to dig as many post holes as Ted...but it has been a while. He dug two and I did about two...Ted had to finish them for me. My tri-ceps are sore this morning....proving what muscles I have not been using. When I lift , I truly try to use my core and legs...not just my back. But I know , no matter what at my age I am going to be sore. Here's to cool crisp mornings. Blessings to you this labor day. xoxo, love, Susie

  15. I got to turn off the air conditioning here, too. Thankfully! I shudder to think what my August electric bill will look like. We've had beautiful sunsets, too. So enjoyed my evening walks.

    1. Carol, Our electric bill was 100 dollars over what it is when nothing is running here...like heat or AC. Seems AC uses way more power. I am so glad you get out to walk in your city and enjoy the good times. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  17. Oh Yes, I love it when I don't have to use the air conditioner, Susie. Lately, it's been cool in the mornings, and I just open up the windows. Oh, look at that beautiful sunset! Are you going to show us the corn when it's all grown? When I went to Iowa, I saw rows and rows of corn fields. It was such a sight!

Wishing you good September days, Susie.
