Looking Up.....

Yesterday's sunrise....the start of a better day. We could at least get out for a drive.  It's been icy here for a few days...but nothing like in the heart land.
I had a birthday this past week...older than dirt !!!  Got cards, flowers, gift cards, calls and texts. That was nice on all the gloomy days.
Here's my big brother two days after his open heart surgery.  He has to keep the big heart pillow on his chest to cough. I have spoken with him on the phone. He will be going home in a couple days. Hooray for good doctors and modern medical technology.  We are all so very thankful. Thanks again to all for your wonderful wishes, thoughts and prayers.
It's been a busy crazy sort of two weeks since this new year started. My daughters were wanting to come celebrate my birthday , but the bad weather did not allow it. Three of my daughters and I have winter birthdays . We talked about getting together in summer nearer to Kathy's birthday and all of us celebrating then. The girls have ran with this idea. They have booked a house in Michigan near the lake for a long weekend , so we can all be together..:) I love the idea of a nice vacation with my daughters. Some thing to anticipate. Yippee.
Prayers for all in the landslide areas, the ice storm areas too. Please be safe. XO

  3. Sounds like your birthday was a happy one, with prospect of another great celebration already in the plans---what a fabulous idea, just you ladies to get together for some girl time.

We missed almost all the predicted ice and anything, and this 48 today is vaguely weird after the dire weather we were warned of. So grateful for clear roads and unsnowed cars!

    Stay warm and well,

  4. Happy Birthday to one of my favorite blog sisters! Too bad the girls couldn't get together for your birthday, but a retreat at the lake this summer sounds fantastic! So happy to see your brother sitting up and doing well. Susie, I just wanted to tell you that I think it's so nice that you pray and think of others in the different states and countries (the harsh weather, hurricanes, floods, drought). It shows what a thoughtful person you are, and this California girl appreciates each and every time you pray for our state.

    love you, Susie.

    1. Sheri, I feel we need to pray for everyone in need or danger. I know there is great power in prayer...that is why I am so thankful when my blog family sends prayers for my kin. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Ted and I ate out today at Red Lobster...nice to be out of the house. We did not get all the ice that was predicted...but the fog is as think as being in London. :):) Blessings to you sweetie, xoxo, love, Susie

  7. Happy, Happy Belated Birthday, Susie!!! You are NOT older than dirt---lol
I am so glad your brother's surgery was successful and that he is going home. The recovery pain from heart surgery is a doozy and pressing against that pillow to cough helps (a bit). It is good he will go home soon. Thank God for good surgeons and medical teams. They really make the difference between life and death a lot of times. xo Diana

    1. Susie, I was on the hone a lot, everyone calling or texting. Everyone of my grandkids called or texted me, my daughters and sisters too. I am glad the weather a bit better..but then the fog is tricky at times. I am glad to hear your brother is doing well , and mine also. My big brother may have had a drink on his anniversary..but he never drank or smoked...we just have heart problems that run in our family.I guess. it will be spring in about 2 months. :) Blessings, love xoxo, Susie

    1. Cheryl, I am thankful that our area had just glazes of ice not the power line breaking kind. All the trees in the ice storm ,sad. The wrecks...there's no way I would try to drive in that. Glad you didn't get that ice . I am now looking forward to our summer birthday gathering. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Cindy, My daughter Kathy live about 3 miles from the Michigan line....she goes on little trips for fun to shops up there. She booked a house in New Buffalo. I just think it will be more fun that we can all be together. I love how the women in your family will unite to go shopping or just take an adventure together. Cindy, I hope we do not get too much rain..I always worry about floods. :( Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    2. Hi Susie,
I'm getting ready to post picture of our pond, that got flooded, during all of this rain! But I'd rather have that, than snow. Except that I don't want people's homes to flood. Hey, if you like to gamble at all (I do, a little bit, but not a lot-money is too hard to come by!) in New Buffalo is a casino called Four Winds. I bet you would all have fun together there! I love all of the little shops in Michigan. I've never been to the ones in New Buffalo, but I have in Saugatuck, South Haven, Douglas (very small but such nice people), Suttons Bay, Traverse City (wineries), Petoskey, Mackinac...we've taken two vacations where we went all the way to the top! Hope your birthday was happy, even though you couldn't all get together. My Dad wants to change his to the summer too!

    3. Cindy, I bet my daughter Kathy knows all those towns..she goes into Michigan lots. I have been to 4 winds on the bus out of Lafayette..it picks people up at the Kokomo Wal-Mart. My daughter said their was a casino close...I just didn't know it was 4 winds. On gambling...our motto is never take more than you can afford to lose. LOL Bless you, xoxo, Susie
