Antique Shop....

Saw this odd snowman in the aisle of the mini mall , on my way to the antique shop.. I am amazed at the cleverness of people. I really liked this...Bet he's heavy.
This was near by. An old window frame with a fake berry strand and old fashioned valentines .
Here's an old picture frame with chicken wire stapled to it and cute valentines pinned on.  I love looking at the old valentine cards.
Found this teacart with a glass top, in the antique shop , which by the way it's called, Memory Lane Antiques.  The owner is a very nice lady named Susan. We talked for a bit and she let me take photos. Told me my chair was purchased locally...so she wasn't sure it was Amish made or not. The gentleman's hat that I went to buy was no longer there, someone had bought it . You know if we snooze we lose. :):)
This is an extended area of Susan's shop. I spotted this Hoosier cabinet. Do you ever see something you would love to own and have no place for it? Well that's how it is with this sweet cabinet.
It's in great shape too. Here's the flour bin, looks as if it could hold a lot of flour. No rust.
Here's the base of the same cabinet.  See that nice enameled top?  Great shape. I just imagine this as the cooking, baking center in an old kitchen , years ago.  Beautiful.
As I was leaving the shop, my phone rang and it was my daughter wanting me to go to Goodwill with her. Well , yes, I went. She's in a play and needed a pant suit. You would laugh, she tried one on that I picked out...she comes out of the dressing room and says, "Mom, did someone make this suit just for me ?" It fit to perfection. We had a great laugh over that.  Angie's husband collects bobble-head sports figures....so I found a Don Zimmer one and bought it for him.
This was yesterday (Sat.) evening's sunset. Just at that last sinking moment of the beautiful sun.
Sunset photo from the road out front. You can see the strips of snow along the fence line. The sky was so pretty. I sure hope you had a great day. Wishing you a beautiful Sunday . XO

  1. Hi Susie, I love the antiques you found-the window and the frame, oh so adorable-but like you I wouldn't have any where to put them. We have a Memory Lane Antiques right here in my town, how funny!
Hope your daughter found the pantsuit.
    Have a great Sunday.

  5. Glad your daughter found the perfect pantsuit for her for the play.
    Sigh.
I remember the days of pantsuite. They were 'all the rage' back in the day.
Love the photos you shared with us today.
Mama had an enamel-topped table in the kitchen when I was a girl. I remember it well. It was a white table with red-trim on the edges. Love the memories.
Thanks for taking me down that memory lane...
    Love,

    1. Jackie, I think a person could still wear a pantsuit if they accessorized it correctly. I remember my aunt having a table like your mom's. You could roll out dough on them:):) My aunt did her biscuits. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

  6. Oooo, I like the red window frame. How cute to stick Valentine cards on there. I love the old vintage cards too. My sister first introduced me to them many years ago, and ever since then, I was hooked. Lots of goodies in this antique shop. The sunset is soooo pretty.

  7. I would feel the same way about that cabinet. But alas, no place for it. I've never seen a cabinet with s flour bin before. Beautiful sunset. I guess this will be the week to buy valentines and get them ready.

    1. Nonnie, I can see why people build pole barns...to get more stuff. LOL. There's a crank at the bottom of the flour bin..I do not know if it shifts the flour as it comes out or not. Never have seen anyone use one. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Linda, When I can be with any of my daughters ...it is always fun and lots of laughs. But only one daughter loves to junk or antique shop. She lives 2 hours away. So we do not get to be together as much as we would like. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  11. Hi Susie,
I just went to a market yesterday in Carmel. It was a lot of fun and full of everything from antiques to handmade items. I bought some fun jewelry. Most importantly I had a great day with my cousin! I love that cabinet too. I have a Hoosier cabinet that I actually allowed room for when designing my kitchen.

  16. I spotted the Hoosier cabinet too. So glad when I bought my house 20 years ago there was room for mine in the kitchen. Have you ever gone down to Edinburgh to the exit 76 antique mall? Usually dont like those but it had alot and not bad prices.

    1. Ann, I do love those cabinets...I just do not have a lick of room left. I went to that outlet area once with my daughter...but never the antique places. MY daughter Kathy lives near many antique places in northern Indiana. Near the Amish Acres and Shipshewana. The little shop here in town is actually very reasonable. Love that. Hope you are doing well and not going to get much snow this next go around. xoxo,Susie

    1. Boston Boy, I once saw Don Zimmer being interviewed on TV. He said his wife accused him of loving baseball more than her and he told her, "But I love you second." My SIL was crazy for that bobble head. Thankfully all those kinds of sports things are in his garage. LOL I wish I had some end tables for you. :):)Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  19. That's an amazing Hoosier cabinet. It's rare to find an enamel top in that kind of shape, not to mention the rest of it. I think it's so neat that your daughter called you to go to Goodwill with her. That's awesome! Hugs, Nancy
