A Busy Day...

After getting Emma dressed and fed, I braided her hair. I do not like  hair hanging in kids faces.:)
Emma painted a little stick we found. She chose pink to go with the colors on the container we were going to use for planting some pansies.
This is the cute pot we planted the pansies in for Emma's mom ( my daughter LIz.).
Emma picked these two colors of pansies. Since one was a bit floppy and taller, that is where the  painted stick was inserted . It holds up the taller pansy. Emma also decided she needed her rummage sale cats for it. So they are going home with her today.

Papaw was going to have Emma help roll the lawn....but it was too dry. So they just rode around on the golf cart.
This is how Emma drove, LOL. You can see the marks of the tires. I am not sure she understands the steering wheel to road wheels connection. :):) We had some good laughs.
This was some of what we did on Monday. It was almost bitter cold, the wind had a bite to it. Today is to be very windy, so we won't be outdoors much. I want those nice warm days back, don't you?
  Take care today. XO

  1. Oh, Susie, I love this post. It just warms my heart to see Emma with her Papaw in the cart. That smile on her face. Love that you planted pansies with her and she painted the sweet stick. And all for her mom. You are giving her memories she will cherish all her life. And stories she will pass down. Lovely. Hugs, Nancy

    1. Nancy, Emma is papaw's girl. She has from the age of four told him to scotch ..so she could share his recliner. She still gets in the chair with him. I laugh telling them one day the old chair will give out. Her mommy loved the gifts she make her...touched my heart. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Oh Susie, I chuckled when you said you don't like hair hanging in kid's faces. That reminded me of a story of me and my mom. She loved my long hair and told me never to cut it. If I told her I wanted to trim it or give it a new look, she'd look at me and sigh. As I get older, I don't like hair in my face at all, so it's up most of the time.

Emma's braided hair is so cute. This is a nice project you did with her, Susie.

    1. Sheri, All my daughter had long hair growing up. Two of the girls hair was thin and two had enough hair for three people....I never cut their hair..so when I would wash it , I had to comb the tangles out..I would be in tears at times..that was before the detangler sprays. Now I wish my two blond daughters would make their hair more blond. It's almost brown now. LOL My granddaughter Savannah with the pink hair...was letting her hair hang in her face...I told her to show her pretty eyes and that hiding behind hair was a sign of low self esteem...which she should not have. We moms (grammas ) do the best we can for our families. Blessings, love you, xoxo,Susie

    1. Judy, She like to curl it and also at times likes to smooth it straight. I tell her too much of that isn't good for your hair. She said that pink stick held up the big pansy. Her mom just loved it when she gave it to her. Makes me feel they appreciate each other. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. Temps were better here today, but the wind just doesn't let up. Love the beautiful braid. The pansies in the pot are lovely. Precious young lady. I don't understand "roll the lawn"?

    1. Nonnie, Rolling the lawn is with a big roller thigy filled with water to make it heavy...so it rolls out the bumps in your lawn from where it may have heaved during freezing and thaw. Just smooths it out some. I love when Emma lets me braid her hair. Her mom used to wear her hair like that. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Cindy, I hate freezing. Plus I want my flowers to have some warm temps. :):) I try to think of something fun to do while Emma's here...such as making crafts. I take her by aunt Angie's too. In the summer she would go swimming with Angie. Blessings to you Cindy, hope we can plant flowers soon. xoxo, Susie

  7. Pretty braid Susie...your a great grandma. Pretty pansies too. Think I will plant some this year on the porch. They are fun to dry and make cards with. Well, as you can see I can comment....but I have to go completely out of IE and go to Google Chrome, I guess Google Chrome and IE are not compatable with each other. So many hoops we much jump through.

    1. Hi Louise, So proud you can visit now. I do not know how to go about changing things here..it makes me nuts...so I go around in circles to be able to blog and comment. If I get to a site that has ads...some of them lock my screen up...so I just don't visit them Maybe you could do a post on saving pansies for cards. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  11. The neighbors might think you have a drunkin' monkey living in your house with those tracks through the yard! LOL- poor Emma, she has a few years to hone her skills. The wind has been something here, too and still blowing today, but not as bad. Its about 60. I still wore my jacket out and didn't stay out too long at all. Got rain coming tomorrow and all weekend. We do need it.

    1. Tete, So funny you said that...that's what my husband used to say about when the neighbor lady mowed her yard. LOL Poor Emma...it took her forever to learn to ride her bike..she puts some miles in her on it. I would not let her take the road so she rode in the grass..She gave it her all. Rain for us tonight and tomorrow. won't be seeing the full moon. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Wanda, When I have French braided my ownhair it's a hidden braid...but when I do some one else's it looks like Emma's in the picture. I always did this with my girls when they wanted it or when they were small. We truly enjoyed Emma's stay. She has a great sense of humor and made us laugh so much. But she needs some driving lessons. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
