Exercise And Work....

Monday was a day of work which equals exercise. LOL.. Ted and I spent most of  the day cleaning our flowerbeds and the yard.  Still aching from that.  Cut all the flower brush we had saved for the birds to hide in.
There was enough branches and twigs to make a full tree. Lots of bending over and squats.  We pulled the trailer around with the golf cart (our mule). That saved tons of walking .
The cornstalks from the fields across the road...what a bother, they were tangled in every shrub  in our yard.
Cleaned our the containers.  My little chicken planter, why did I leave it out all winter and not even think about it freezing and expanding. Oops, now it's falling apart. :):)
Lilies are popping thru the soil by the pond.  Hope it's not too soon for them.
Some of you will know this little viola. It's still green. It had blossoms in Feb...went thru snows and freezing rains. Still green. What a hardy little fellow.
I am happy to say, our stick picking for this spring is over ....well except for the occasional branch or twigs here and there during storms.  It was a full morning workout . Ted and I were both aching when we ate our late lunch. We laugh at ourselves when one of us will say, "oh my back, or oh my feet." But  it was a good day's work with very good results.  Our debis is in a big burn pile along with the neighbor's. He and Ted will be burning that and keeping an eye on it , so as not to burn the farm down. LOL.
Wishing all a great Tuesday. XO

  10. Susie, What a lot of work you've done-you might be achy, but bet you are satisfied! I'd love to see photos of your house-the front and back. I spent an hour trying to detach some of the lawn this week-what a job. I told hubby when he got home that we needed to rent a de-thacher. He said it was probably so hard because the ground is partially frozen. I did trim back some dead plants though. Hope you are spending the rest of the week just admiring your work.
    Hugs, Noreen

    1. Noreen, You are right, once the aching or over you are very happy with the work you've done. We are . Ted and I do work well together. We always have. We just keep at it till it's done. I would love to have more garden areas...not for a veggie garden, but maybe some hydrangea bushes. or little patios in corners. Things like that. We have to keep moving or become unable to do anything physical...and that would just be awful. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

I sat on the porch this late afternoon and talked with God. Isn't spring air sweet? I hope we do not get any more freezing weather...as there's things popping up here. Our grass is greener than yesterday morning..so something is happening. :) Blessings to you, wish you could go to Horton's this Saturday. xoxo,Susie

  13. All your hard work and aching muscles paid off Your yard is beautiful. I have so much work to do in mine. But now I have the time to do it. Well... sort of. We had beautiful weather here today too. It was up to 73* and sunny. I was able to go out with just a sweater on. I love it that the little viola is still there. That's a hardy plant!

    1. Kathy, You have to do a little each day...please don't over do. The older I get the more I want simplicity....less things to tend too. less places to weed. Containers may end up being my gardening style. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie

    1. Boston Boy, wish you could have been here today. 70 degrees and the grass is greening before our eyes. The yard looks good and we can enjoy it. I sat on the porch and enjoyed the fresh air and quiet. You have to admit you have a history beyond belief in your town. Many things to do and see. I think when we are young we love the hustle bustle of crowds and activity...maybe not you so much, but for me now I like the peace and quiet. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  15. Isn't it exciting to get out for the first time and start cleaning up the debris that accumulate from the winter. I love violas because they're such a pretty flower and reliable. I finally got to pull out a flower pot of daffodils that I had left in the garden because we've melted down enough to be able to get it out now. It's thawing in the house now. Can't wait to see them take off! Even though it wakes up muscles that we've forgotten about and causes soreness I look forward to getting out there and doing what you guys did. Hopefully like you said it's not too early but I'm optimistic that we're going to have an early spring!

    1. There,s a daffodil growing on the east side of our garage...I need to rescue it and bring it out where it can be seen. Thank you for this reminder. Yes, Liz, it's the best feeling once the biggest part of clean is done. I only shovel snow a couple of times this past winter...so my muscles were not reading for the grapper thingy we use to prevent so much bending....so I just did the bending and squatting...now I know I need to get back into shape. LOL I hope your daffodils bloom, get pictures. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Ann, I hope you can get your burn pile done. We are so lucky to have a spot to burn the big stuff. If it's hard woods we save those for the fireplace. :) Yes, we are in for some down pours...I pray it's can disperse a bit before it gets to our area. I hate to think of the rain the south is due to have...too scary to think about, but I pray for all of them. Blessings. xoxo,Susie

  18. Susie, whenever I do any physical work outside, I'm sore the next day. It just goes with the territory I guess. You and Ted got so much done. All that work paid off because it sure looks great! I love that white wooden shelf on your porch, it's cute.

Oh my, that little viola is still hanging in there. I think she is one sturdy and special flower.

  19. Yes, I had our yard guys come last week. We too had tree limbs galore, didn't bother me as bad when the snow covered them up...lol But the yard looks so nice now. Wish my aches and pains came from cleaning it up myself instead of something else:( I know you have to feel wonderful having a clean yard, with lovely little sprouts coming up!!

    Blessings,
