I am done with my flowers. I will water them and hope for the best. It seems once I plant the flowers, it sure doesn't look like I spent as much money as I did. :) Here's my peanut container set up.
It was to go with this garden flag I stuck the flag in my big container here , left it there about an hour then changed it out. I am laughing at myself...Gee, I am hoping the flowers I planted here fill in, or I'll have to buy some fake flowers. :):)
Someone comment they wanted to see the catalpa leaf. So here's a shot of one.
These are the blossoms on the catalpa tree. they grow in little bunches like this. They are really pretty.
This is one of the hanging baskets plopped into a plant stand. I should have hosed the porch and walk down to clean up all the dust I made....but we are to get rain soon, that will take care of the dust. I swept so hard yesterday, I broke my broom handle. :):)
Wishing all of you a good relaxing day. XO
I love your container, did you pin it..if not you should, or should I do it for ya! We had those trees when I lived in Kentucky, we called them ca-tal-fee trees. I saw lots of those beans at the antique show last year, but I don't really know how they use them, perhaps in a flower arrangement. Happy day!
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy, Sweetheart, you can pin if you like. I have no idea how to do that. LOL. I think I would love to know more about those bean pods. Blessings, stay cool this weekend. xoxo, Susie
DeleteIsn't that the truth about the price of those flowers? The flower pots are also outrageous to me. I like your patriotic flower pots!
ReplyDeleteNonnie, I spent plenty for flowers but not as much as last year. I bought all those Proven Winners and the rabbits ate them. :( I keep saying I am going to just buy fake and stick them into the dirt of the pots. LOL. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLove the Red, White and Blue containers and flag!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou broke your broom! You were a sweeping whizzzzzzzz, my Dear!!! :-)))))
Yes, the cost! Ever wonder why we don't get seeds, and begin, early, that way?
Well I know why! My husband was into that. And it was hard work. Not "hard" hard. But time consuming. He did not do that, this year. (Hooray!!!)
Happy watering the pots now!
Tessa
Tessa, I keep thinking about the seed thing..and you are right, it's easy enough but a constant chore. If I buy enough violas they might just start growing all over. LOL. yes, I broke my broom and wondered , Now how can I get to town. LOL. Ted couldn't stop laughing. Blessings for a great day there. xoxo, Susie
DeleteAt the nursery I spend a fortune, come home and find I didn't buy nearly enough. LOL
ReplyDeleteJanet, I know I thought I had so many flowers till they were in the pots and it looks so skimpy. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Deletelol on the broken broom! Everything looks so pretty and inviting. Thanks for sharing the leaves and blooms on the tree - that is new to me. I hope you receive a nice, gentle rain. Have a lovely day, Susie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mildred. Ted laughed about the broom. I told him , now I can't get to town. LOL. Today our catalpa tree is in all it's glory...you know those couple of days in the life of blossoms, that is perfect? Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSomething like powdery mildew is killing my plants. I've sprayed but they don't look good. Not sure I have the heart to replant. Mostly I have green plants with only a few annuals for color. May just stick with the year round green.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, Maybe you could find out about the mildew on line. I keep saying if my flowers don't start looking good..too much rain, not enough rain, too much heat..gee what are we to do. I am just going to stick some fake flowers into my pots. :):) I love things that come back each year...but those instant pops of color are nice also. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI know what you mean about buying plants...they look like a lot when you bring them home...but once planted you have to wonder if that's all there is?
ReplyDeleteLinda, I hauled in two flats and that's not counting a flat of pansies in early spring ( they are gone now) I am thankful for the clematis and the lilies and my sad rose. LOL. Hope you are doing well. Blessings to you, love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI love your flag container! We (my husband) plants geraniums for the front porch and that is it for planting season for us. Wish I was more into it. :) Maybe someday...
ReplyDeletePatty, I love to read about men who love to garden too. One day you may take an interest. But with all your crafting adventures and fun...I think you have a full plate. LOL. I loved your last post. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour planters turned out so cute! Glad you were inspired to do it. I have to get working in my yard. You put me to shame!
ReplyDeleteKathy, Girl I had to get those flowers done...it's going to be in the 90 this weekend. I can't do that kind of heat any more. Don't over do if it gets that hot where you live. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour flowers are pretty and you know it's just early June, they'll fill out more.
ReplyDeleteGlad you showed the catalpa leaf and blossom, it lives up to what I imagined it would be, very sweet.
Dewena, I am glad you like the pictures. Today our old catalpa tree was in it's full beauty. We drove around looking at woods to see if we could spot others around here. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI think your flowers are gorgeous, and in a few weeks they'll be hanging over the sides of the pots, all lush and happy !
ReplyDelete~Jo
Jo, Thank you for the kind words. I am hoping the containers will look great in a week or so. I still have to get some miracle grow. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'm sure your flowers will fill in soon and will be so pretty. Love the containers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Laurie. I might make my daughter some of those flag containers. LOL..Ted better eat some more peanuts. My daughter has 4th of July family reunion at her house. I think she would like the flag look. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI still have a flat of impatients to plant. Enjoy watching your flowers grow!
ReplyDeleteAnn, I had my pansies sitting around so long, carried them in the house a couple times , then the shop once. and finally planted them...then I think I over watered them..crazy. What little green thumb I had is wore to a nub. LOL Blessings , xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour flowers look good Susie and I know they will 'fill out' in the coming weeks.
ReplyDeleteWell done
All the best Jan
Hi Jan, I sure hope the flower do fill the gaps in the pots. LOL. It was kind of shocking to see so little after the flats were emptied. LOL . Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThey look very pretty! Not much of a relaxing day today...maybe tomorrow! lol Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDiane, we had a fun day...drove around some looking for more catalpa trees...so easy to spot in the woods with their blooms. Had a good lunch out. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt all looks good!!! I am back to watering morning and evening to keep my plants growing now that the temps are rising! No 100's yet but it's coming!
ReplyDeleteLinda, This weekend is to be in the 90's here. I don't like that ...it will be humid because we are to have rain maybe this evening late. and tomorrow. I am so glad you can get around as well as you are. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteFun idea with the peanut containers. My plants look good for now! I need to keep them watered.
ReplyDeletewarmly,
deb
Hi Deb, I hope I can water mine the right amount...sometimes I think I water too much. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is only just getting my planting done now. I feel like I'm late this year. Yes, plants can really add up!! I look at the gorgeous hanging pots that are dripping with all kinds of beautiful flowers, but oh so expensive. My daughter works at a garden center, but no family discount. :( -Jenn
ReplyDeleteJenn, I know it seems late to be planting around here . Some times you can get discounts near the end of the season...but you would want to buy perennials, cause they might have time to take hold . Although I am sure some one with a green thumb could make some annuals grow in a short time. :) Too bad you couldn't get a family discount from where your daughter works. I think one of my daughters could work in a place like that, cause she loves working with flowers and plants. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThose containers are perfect for the Fourth of July, Susie. And the red flowers look pretty in them. I hope your flowers do well this summer. Sometimes I plant flowers in my back yard, and for whatever reason, they don't do as well as I'd like, and that's why I like roses so much. They thrive in all different kinds of weather. Your patio is charming, Susie. It's supposed to rain again, oh my!
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
I didn't realize that song by Tim McGraw won an award. I've never heard it until yesterday, and now it's been in my head a lot hahaha. It really is a pretty song. Listen to it if you get a chance. I think you'll like it. :)
DeleteSheri, Some times I forget to water plants and other times ...it seems I water too much. :) I think I'll see if I can find Tim's song on line. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
