Wednesday In Town....

I went into town today. Stopped by Horton's. They are full of mums and fall decorations.
There's a new clothing boutique there. Some very cute things, I will show tomorrow.
This corner of orangy mums is so  much like autumn .
This is a planting of  pink flowers and ivy in a chicken feeder.
Different sizes of tin stars. A nice big Farmer's Market sign.
In the greenhouse area, which was so steamy the lens of my camera would not stay cleared. Those stars are made of wood.  Mums everywhere in there just beginning to bud out. Tomorrow I will show all of you some of the cute things that I saw in the store.
Our town is busy with men setting up tents all over the town square in preparations for our annual Pork  Festival.  It begins on Thursday evening. Goes till midnight Saturday. I used to take my daughters to the parade(Saturday afternoon) for years and years. Then we all started meeting up at a friend's lawn with all the grands for the parade. Now I am doing well to spend part of Friday with my daughters  walking through and eating lunch there.
My favorite part is just being with my girls and seeing the art tent....where our local artists enter their  art for prizes . So many talented people in our town ....as in your very own.
   Blessings to all. XO

  1. Enjoy your festival! They are a special part of living in smaller towns. Loved all the mums! Can't wait to see all the fall things at Horton's and the new store. I don't think I have been out of town shopping since...a month or so ago. Gosh, I might not be able to control myself.

    1. Tete, I think you are right about festivals being a bit of small town enjoyment. They have some purple mums and I am thinking of getting some for our porch. Some times I buy them for decorations and never plant them....just keep them thru the season. I have been thinking of getting some more old sweaters from Goodwill...you know ones people probably would not wear ever. You can make cloth pumpkins with them. I have a bag full from last year. LOL. You have to come back tomorrow and see the ones at Hortons. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. I have a funny story that somewhat involves the Tipton Pork Festival, I'll have to blog about it sometime. It's too long for a comment. I used to go to the festival when Bob & Tom used to do their "gig" there. Remember those days?
I've been wanting to stop by Hortons. Just can't seem to take the time.

    2. I am going to try to go on the 24th. Dave is having foot surgery tomorrow (Tuesday) so he is going to be laid up for awhile. But I think I should be able to get away for a little while by then!

  6. Mums just mean FALL to me!!! Some of mine bloom all through the spring and summer if we get enough rain and I water them. Usually, though, I nurse them along with no blooms until finally they DIE in August due to the heat and then I go out and buy more in September! Wish WE had a Horton's!!!

    1. Hi Katie, If a person likes pork...the smells of the festival are enticing. The Elks, Lion's club, and many booths sell b-b-q , tenderloins, things made of pork. Then the food tent served grilled pork chops, pork burgers, and b-b-q. # days and nights of activities also. Crafts and drawings. Art tent is my favorite spot.:):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
