After The Storms...

So calm this morning, after the storms of last night. You can see by the way the flag is hanging there's no wind now.
The day looks like it will be starting off very pretty.
I found two bird nests this morning on my way to the mailbox for the newspaper.  They were built very sturdy , but not anchored to last in the winds we had. I'll dry this out and use them as decorations on the porch.

My containers took a beating also. Geranium petals every where.
This tiny viola that has been growing by the steps , was not harmed. Such a beautiful little flower and so strong for it's dainty size.
We have severe storms forecasted for our area  late today into tomorrow.  We needed the rain we got. I am just hoping the storms are not bad enough to cause damage.
California  is in our thoughts and prayers. Those fires are so scary. Please be safe. XO

  1. It stormed here as well, but I did not hear it. I need to do something with my onions today and plant another tomato plant so I hope to be able to get them done while my granddaughter is sleeping.

  3. Isn't it simply amazing that a small little flower like that could withstand the storm? I am so sorry about the bird nests, but they will be a sweet decoration. We have our grandson today, too. You have a great day, okay?? xoxo

    1. Nonnie, I just smile when I saw the little flower...it's sister grew near the same spot all winter. I could hear a wren really carrying on this morning...she may have been upset at losing her nest or babies. I think the nests I found were robins' nests. You will enjoy your sweet grandson. I have seem their photos on your blog...they are good kids. Thank you for the wishes, I hope your day is wonderful and filled with fun. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, Some times it hard to believe the calm when the whole night was tons of lightening and wind. I do not mind the lightening...the wind and too much rain is what scares me the most. We had 1 1/4 inches of rain. Wouldn't you know the lawn man came at 10:00 this morn. I hope the treatment doesn't get washed off . Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  5. Hi Sweetie...so glad you are safe! The wind has been crazy here! The roses like it hot, so the temps are okay for me...lol. We wanted summer, and here it is at last, huh?!
Hope all is well with you, my friend.

    1. Hi Sylvia, We got the rain that was needed. I wish it could rain in California right now...where the wild fires are. That would help them. 90 degree days are some times just too hot to truly enjoy outdoors. Stay cool in the shade sweet lady. It would be fun in your sister's gardened shady area. Blessings, xoxo, hope you are well. Susie

  7. Over here, we had storms last night too. Before I went to sleep, I saw much lightening, to the east. When I woke up, we had had T-storms here. But I didn't know it.

Yikes! How is that for deep sleep??? LOL

Best of luck with your weather, tonight.

Yes, CA! Fires and the heat! -sigh-

    1. Tessa, I guess storms wake some people and lull others to sleep. We had over an inch of rain..we did need it. the skies have been blue all day so far. I did see the thin whiteness of the moon this morning. I wanted to see it in it's early evening glory..They did show some cities pictures of it, on the news this morning. Hope you had a good day. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Good evening Susie, Such a pretty, clear day after a night of storms. Hope you receive the moisture without the damaging winds. Very scary about the wildfires. God bless those affected and those brave souls fighting the flames.
    Wishing you pleasant dreams!

  10. Sweet bird nests, Susie. I am wondering what bird made its home there. Your red geraniums are still holding up through the storm. Thank you for thinking of us here in California. It gets dry in the summer, and we sure could use some rain during these hot summer months.

    1. Sheri, These wind blown nests look like they were for robins. I thought they might be cute with some shells or flowers in them. I have been so worried for the western states. You are always in my thoughts when I hear California mentioned on the news. Blessings,xo, love, Susie
