Library & Courthouse.....

Remember the green plastic benches in the park? This is one of the newer brown colors. It is in front of the library doors.
It says Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.  These benches are made of recycled plastic water bottles and caps .
In the library foyer, shelves of books for sale. Some are donated books and some old books discontinued from the library shelves. Hard covers are a dollar. Children's books 50 cents, paperbacks are 50 cents . There's old VHS tapes too.  I thought it odd that there was nothing in the display cases.
This stained glass was one of  three, that used to be in the front of our old library that was torn down. At least they saved them . They are hanging in the library now.
Potato vine in a pot, near the paver brick walkway. The vine has completely taken over it's container.
I love seeing mailboxes. I can't explain why, just do. The potted plants around our town are still beautiful.
This is a long flowerbed dividing the courthouse parking lots. It's so pretty
I see it has some of the same plant that are in the containers about town.
I love our old courthouse. It's had many renovating things done to it through the years.  There's something going on with our big Catholic church. Some dangerous and I'll have to do a blog about that.  You know how some buildings just seem to define your town....this courthouse and some churches here do that for me.
Hope all of you have a great day.  XO

  2. Susie,
You do have really beautiful historic buildings in your town. My sweet potato vines are doing the same thing they are taking on a life of their own. Mine on the porch is growning down the porch and spilling onto the walk way. Have a great week and wonderful holiday week end.

    1. Kris, I love those potato vines.I have one that I almost waited too late to plant. I wanted to put it by the mailbox...but the rabbits were eating machines around here. So I have it in a pot . Kris, I love my hometown so much. I like that it has been beautified some. The containers of plants all over town and in the park. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Ann, The old library was a beauty, with three of those ovals stained glass windows. Two are hanging in the entry at the library and one inside the main room. There used to be an old stuffed black bear...I do not know what happened to him. :) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  4. I enjoyed the tour of your town. I really like the library's idea of having an ongoing sale. Our library only does a yearly sale and it's a lot of work. I also enjoyed seeing the potato vine doing so well. I only tried growing them once and they did not do well here...too shady, I think.

    1. Vee, Our library used to have a huge book sale during our town's Pork Festival.. Now they close the library off during that time..so you can buy a cheap book any day of the week during library hours. They will sell Harliquin paperback s for a dime. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  5. I donated a couple of boxes of books to the library for their sale earlier this year. It wasn't easy to do.:-( We have those VHS tapes, though, but I don't think we will be able to get the VCR to work with the new HD TV and the Comcast hookup.:-( xo Nellie

  7. Susie...I'm so sorry I've been absent. As the weather gets colder I'll have more indoor time to blog.

Love the benches. the upkeep will also be much easier. I think your library has the right idea. Ours will not take used books but if they took donations to sell they could make a big profit. Duh! You really have a neat town.

Thanks always for your visits! :)

  9. I love this kind of stuff. People showing where they live. It looks like a very nice place.
Yes I will bring a camera when I go away next week. I just don't know as of yet what I will take pictures of because I have taken so many already. Of course there's always the sunrise and sunset shots. They never get old.

    1. Boston Boy, I love seeing where people live also. Now your area would take a long time to see everything. You are right sun rises and sunsets never grow old. I like seeing the area you stay in . The trips along the shore. I can not believe how fast your vacation has rolled in..of course it probably did not seem fast to you and Arlene. :) Blessings for a fun filled weekend, xoxo,Susie
