Flowers.& The Indy 500....

I went to you know where this morning.(Horton's) :):)  It was like a bee hive there this morning. Flowers and plants everywhere. They were actually unloading a semi at the curb.   I am getting one of these little baskets of succulents. Adorable.
Mr. Horton was so busy, I asked his daughter if I could take photos. That whole family is just the sweetest people you would ever want to know. This is outside where many racks are set up for the plants. They have  artificial flowers for graves too. Memorial day is so near.
The sidewalk had ferns along the front of the store and there's ferns hanging in this outside area also.
This is the greenhouse spot. So many beautiful hanging baskets. Petunias too. They even had some black petunias. I saw on the news this week where someone showed how to make a nice container full of black and white petunias with checkered flags added to the center......the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 is this coming weekend.
First time ever , every ticket and slot has been sold  for the Indy 500. So the blackout of the race for us has been lifted..... we can see the race on TV. I have only gone to the race once, & carburetor day once.  I love to smell burning rubber on asphalt . LOL
Hope your Wednesday is  peaceful. XO

    1. Diane, You should be able to get some petunias still. Of course there may be different growing seasons. My purple one is looking like a weed now...I think I drowned it..Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. I love walking through nurseries of beautiful plants. Now that I have limited options for having plants I don't do it very often.

Don't know anything about car racing.

    1. I love seeing new kinds of plants. I do not know a lot about things I have not tried personally. I used to go to the Nascar races...I truly do not like Indy car racing. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  4. What did you buy? Just succulents? Didn't those petunias beg you to take them home? Oh girl, you can have those races! I'll take Horton's. Lol!

  11. I love walking through the nursery and seeing all the gorgeous flowers. I also love seeing them bloom in my yard. I bought some wave petunias this year and they are doing fantastic! Enjoy the race. Glad you get to watch it. However, I guess you won't be able to enjoy the smell of burnt rubber on TV. Maybe Horton's could fix you up with a candle scented like that?

    1. I like little succulents. My daughter gave me a nice cactus for mother's day and I could put them all together. I really want some red geraniums, this summer for my main flower pots. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I must have over watered my pansies...a couple containers are looking poorly. I can not plant in the ground the rabbits are eating things. Need more live traps.LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  14. We are off to our flower place this morning! Don't want to wait till after the holiday, when every thing will have been picked over. :-)

So glad that this is not going to be blacked out for you. How mean! But I know. They have to sell all the possible tickets, in the area of the race. ,-)

    1. Tessa, I hope you get all the flowers you would like for your gardens and containers. They keep saying this is the first year there will be no black out of the race. It's hard for me to watch sports on TV....makes me nervous. LOL.. But I know a lot of people will be very happy to sit in the comfort of their homes and watch it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  19. Oh gosh I love these kinds of places! I have visited so many garden centers around here- even the big box stores, but my favorite are the locally owned ones. I like being able to talk to someone who is knowledgable and can help if needed. I see Mountain Mama's comment about the black petunias and I totally agree about mixing them like she suggested. I don't know about the blackout about the Indy 500- I guess I live under a rock. That's great that every ticket has been sold. That means lots of visitors and more revenue to the local businesses! Have yourself a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

    1. Liz, A black out of something, like the Indy 500 ...just means it will nto be shown on TV during the race...afterwards, they show the whole thing..but everyone knows who won by then. It never matters to me. I love buying from the Horton's , because that's a family owned business and they are so helpful and kind. Hope you have a beautiful holiday weekend, xoxo, Susie

  20. We have a place similar to Horton's called Mahoney's Rocky Ledge Farm. My dad used to like to go there to get his garden going. Have you ever had spaghetti sauce made from freshly picked tomatoes? Just the best!

    1. Boston Boy, I bet your dad knew everything about growing tomatoes. We had a neighbor that could grow anything. I do not know didly about growing veggies. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  21. The Indy 500 sounds fun, Susie. I forget that you lived so close to it. I went to a car race many years ago, and although it was so much fun, it was also LOUD!!! hahaha. What a nice idea to make a container full of black and white petunias with checkered flags for this year's race. I hope you get to see it on tv, Susie.
