New Homes...

In my daughter Angie's neighborhood, there's three new homes being constructed. On postage stamp sized lots.  Not much yard. This would be good for older people. Anyone with children will need a yard.
You can get an idea of how close these homes are here. Maybe 10 to 12 feet between them.
There is a very nice paved street in the housing area. But not enough for all the lots that are marked for homes. That is if you have more than two cars. If you have children, you may have 3-4 cars. Teens that is. :):) So far no one has built next to my daughter . I told her and her husband they should buy the lot to the north of them..as the fellow in the corner bought two. Then there would be some room between them.
Talk about crowded....look at my mums. Some are blooming already. I thinned these out in early spring and gave some to two of my daughters.  I may do that again next spring.
Thanks to all who commented and understood my angst yesterday. You are so kind.  I am better today, my eye is not as red. :) Wishing all a great day today. Hoping our weekend is cooler.  XO

  1. I was just catching up with the eye problems...no fun. Sounds very frustrating! Glad you are starting to do better!
Mums already blooming! We have some maples turning around here...it isn't even August yet! Hope it's all just a sign that we will have a nice LONG fall! Hope you have a lovely weekend, Susie!

    1. Sylvia, I know that trees will drop leaves if it's too dry so the tree can live. I hope that is what's happening. We have had some super hot day here in this July. I am ready to sit a spell on the porch, aren't you honey? Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Where we live they are 'in filling' by building new homes in the four corners of lots with older homes from the days when you got large lots when you bought a home. When they're finished there's nearly room for air conditioner units to fit between the homes.

    1. Linda, That is horrid...You would think they would just build another housing addition at the edge of town . It is sad. I do not know what our mother would have done , if we had never had a yard. Cause she sent us out to play all the time..well except during real cold or rainy days. I can remember playing till late at night, in summer. No AC back then..we played outside to be cool..but would come in all sweaty and dirty. LOL..I like decent sized yards. Blessings, Tell Bob hello from Indiana. xoxo, Susie

  4. ouch sorry about your eye and tooth! I would hate to be that close to my neighbors (and I love mine!). Plus many of them have limited windows and ventilation because of that.

    1. Ann, I love having my windows open and I would not want to hear or see my neighbors all the time. LOL. Cities need to spread out and before they do, they need to build roads and sewers systems to handle it all. Hope things are cooling down there. It has looked like rain most of the day...but not a drop yet. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie

  5. Yes cooler sounds good! It's been hot and humid and over 90 for two weeks until today. It's in the 80's but it's still humid. There no construction around here home-wise because we are already piled on top of each other. Boston is a different story. There is quite a bit of construction there however those these are large buildings.
Getting ready to go out to dinner for a tasty Italian meal. Wanna come?

    1. Boston Boy, Just let me get my shoes on...I'll be right there...well I wish. Hope you are taking Arlene. :) I have been out very little all week. To the drs. and store. Then out in the gardens for a bit. Hope you are getting closer to being in your apartment... I know that will be like a vacation after living with family. We get set in our ways, don't we? Blessings for a great weekend. xoxo, Susie

    1. JP, I have a mixed bunch of colors in my mums. I like the one in the pictures. But I have some rust, orange, lavender and burgundy colors. I would love to see them last till November...but with them blooming now they won't. Blessings for a great weekend, xoxo, Susie

  7. Mums in August? Wow! I hope fall weather comes early. It's hot here. Most of the houses around us are close together. That's why we like it where we are. No houses behind us.

    1. Nonnie, I can't believe how many homes they want to build in that small addition...it's almost crazy. I know my son in law will hate to be crowded. Yes, I am shock these mums are blooming. I think they are a month or more too early. Wishing you a great weekend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Yes, good advise you gave your daughter to buy the lot beside them. My parents never did, and wish they would have.

    1. Cindy, I think my daughter and her husband will probably move after retiring. They have a few years yet. That will make me so sad. You met my Angie , she was with me at Horton's. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. I have no concept of having neighbors far away. Our houses are all attached to each other and our yards are usually big enough to put a table and chairs out and that's it. Many of them are cement and no grass at all. Children play on the sidewalks in front of the houses. There is public transportation so people don't usually have more than one car. It's a different world.

    1. Kathy, I guess it has a lot to do with where we grew up. Some times I miss being in town so much. I do not miss rude neighbors , barking dogs, and some of the noise. I do miss hearing he train go by my house. LOL. I lived by a road that ran along side the track. Now I am two miles from the very track...so I can hear the train as it blows it's whistle for the crossings. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. Yes, that's how they make the new homes now - not too much yard and close together. But you know, when people downsize, it's nice to have a smaller area to take care of and neighbors that are close to you. Your daughter's neighborhood reminds me of mine. They are still building new homes every day, and I'm so glad to be here.

Those little bird houses are sweet in your garden, Susie.

    love, ~Sheri
