A Bit Of The Week......

  Wednesday it started to rain. It did not rain much after this first 3 minute quick downpour. It rain fast and left a dry spot by the post...amazing. It did rain more in the wee hours of Thursday.

 But by ten o'clock the skies were clearing.

 Once the clouds were gone, the sky was clear and the day was pretty. I did wash my windows this week.  Saw some streaking later when the sun hit spots . :(   I'll go over them again.

  The geraniums are still doing well. No frost yet. It was a high of 62 on Thursday. Which is the kind of temperatures  I like.

 This Friday morning's  sunrise.  Today will be a good day also. There's only a couple of fields of corn and soybeans left to harvest along our road. So harvest around our area has been going strong.
  Ted is already out the door this morning , getting blood work for his yearly heart check up. That check up will be in two weeks.  Really always good to have that done for the year.
   Fall is going quickly , it seems, yet our trees around here have not turned much.  It  is almost peak season for the leaf viewing in the state parks.

Thank You, Thank You......

   My daughter Karen called me today and read the medical report she was receiving on line. The node in her lung had not changed. It was the same size , no difference is shape . So this is good news.

 She will get another scan in 6 months.  Oh by the  way these are her grade school photos.

  Karen is mommy to Savannah and Skylar. Two teens.....you know her hands are full. :):)

 Thank you dear friends for the prayers and good thoughts.  I knew you would understand my anxiety . We mommies love our "babies". They will be our babies no matter how old they get to be.  This is my second post...but I wanted to get the news out there as soon as possible.  Now I can breathe.  God is good. XO

Thinking of Karen....

 This is Karen, she's my last born child....she came into the world with her sister Liz. Twins, you know. This photo shows the real Karen as she grew up. Smiling, flashy those dimples. Tomboy kind of girl. Roller skated, skateboarded, bike riding,  and ball playing. Loved all sports.
  Today Karen is having a lung scan....to see if the tiny node that was seen in her heart scan is still there. I am thinking of her and holding her close in my prayers today.  Will  you also? Please.
  Karen came to lunch yesterday. I fixed one of my father's favorite foods...salmon patties. Yes, they have to be served with peas. I do not fry much here, so I had to use margarine to fry the patties. Karen asked me if I had any bacon grease. LOL No way do I use any of that here. Yes, it would have had that wonderful taste. :):)
  While Karen was here, a friend was texting her and asking for a birthday pie. Karen bakes things and takes them to her friends at work.....now they ask for treats. So funny. Karen actually loves cooking and baking. She was telling her friend , if they kept pestering her , they were not getting any pies.:)
 Today the weather will change for us later...but at this moment it is still perfect. Love these sweet days.  Wishing all of you well.  Enjoy. XO

Yesterday , Emma & Harvesting....

  Look at our Emma. She is growing up ...with these glasses on she seems even older. LOL  We went to Liz's for a celebration of Matt's birthday, early.

   Yesterday morning early, Mike (neighbor) was putting the bean head on his combine.

 Then he pulls the wagons to the field he is harvesting. I call these bumble wagons..they make the most racket coming down the barn drive, sound like thunder.

  The fellow who farms the field across from us , did beans yesterday also. Got the whole field down.

  So must dust and dirt. I will be washing windows soon. I wanted to wait till all the crops around here were in.

  Coming home from my daughter's house yesterday evening. Got this pretty sunset. It was so nice to see my twin daughters and their families. Plus some of Matt's birthday wishing friends.
   Today was a perfect day. Ted cut a dead tree down for the neighbor and cut it into firewood already. I did laundry and cleaned.  Read some blogs. :):)
   It's terrible , the havoc the hurricane has caused  the coastal states.  Let's keep them in our thoughts. Bless you. XO

Time......

 I will show some of the clocks in our home. My daughter Kathy says we have too many noisy clocks. LOL.  We only wind the living room clocks.  I looked up some time quotes for all of you.
   "one day at a time"......"I need some me time".... "time changes everyone"..... "time is money"

 I started this post earlier , last week.....but time has a way of changing things. As I was trying to think of what to put with the pictures of clocks to make it interesting...Time itself   determined what I should say.  "Time is precious, don't waste it."

 As I was gathering the quotes and the pictures, my brother was at the hospital getting a biopsy for prostate cancer.  His results are positive.  He is our little brother.  Thankfully the doctor has been checking his PSA numbers....because our father had prostate cancer ....so it's been caught early. He has decided to have the surgery. I only know right now the surgery is scheduled for over a month from now. ....  "The trouble with time is you think you have time."

 I am asking for prayers for our brother. He is a good man. Always makes us laugh. He's never been mean that I can remember...you know other the tormenting little brother stuff. LOL. ..."Time has a way of showing us what really matters. "

"Time is what we want most, but waste the worst." ..."The only thing more precious than time is who we spend it on."....,. "take time for your family and friends."
  Thanking all of you that will keep my brother in your good thoughts and or prayers.  Please keep the people in the path of the hurricane in our good thoughts also.  We all need each other. Bless you. XO

Tuesday Here.....

  Today turned out to be a really nice day . Partly cloudy , but wonderful sunshine.

   The bus is dropping off the neighbor boy A truly sweet kid. I know as the bus came down the road it passed Josh's father combining corn.

    This is his field to the left. Mike's been in it all day. He and his uncle taking the corn to the Co-op at the edge of town.

   We had a breeze today that felt very nice , even though it was not hot out.

  Have to show the colors of our mums. Love this orange.

  This one seems to have different shade of burgundy.

   This is more daisy like. I love mixing it into bouquets.

  A deep mauve color.

 I like this tall grass also.  I had this is a reddish color once , but it only lived one year.
  Ted and I have done a bit of running . Got our flu shots. Stocked up on some groceries. I am going to sit out on the porch now for an hour or so . Wishing all of you a great evening. XO

Rain , Work, & Some Fun....

  I have left over photos...LOL...we all do, don't we? This is where I put a couple of the tiny white pumpkins, beside the birdy welcome.

  Ted put the big wood box on the corner of the back deck, in preparation for winter (shh). I do not even want to think about it. Ted did rework this wood box. It had a flat top the last two winters and now it has a sloped one.  It'll hold a weeks worth of wood.

  On the opposite corner I placed a container plant.  Ted decided to use a skid(1/2) as a step upon the deck . Works perfectly.

  Here's Ted down in the wood bin , loading the wheelbarrow.  He has already loaded his first load of wood in the box. When we first had the wood bin, I asked Ted to fence it in, I did not want everyone looking at that site. The fellow down the road has a huge pile of stacked wood as long as his drive at the garage and as tall or taller than his truck. He keeps a tarp over it.

   A couple of those pretty days we had early this past week, the neighbor man had the barn doors open as he was harvesting corn. His uncle helps him at harvest and planting.

  This is the outside wall of a restaurant  where we met family for lunch one day.  It's a beautiful mural. I should have stepped off the walkway and snapped this photo.

  There was a lot going on in this mural. Cabin, boats, flying geese, and deer.

 This is in Mulberry, Indiana.  It's a restaurant and bar.  The food was good.  The service very nice. We might go again some time.
  I am ready for some sunshine . Too many rainy days for me.  Today is to be a bit sunny....that helps my mood. :) Bless all of you. XO
