Sure Seems Like Spring....

   I bought these little cards at Horton's and gave them along with some pink tiny clothes pins to my daughter. She is going to make a spring banner for her kitchen.

  I got the resin bunny who is carrying a basket. I put the pink tulips in his basket. He is now a center piece. But I could plant some of the pansies in his basket.

   Aren't these little pansy faces adorable.  This variety of pansy was like it was double. You can see the ruffled edges.

  The colors are so beautiful on this little fellow. Can't wait to have them in some little containers.

 There were deep dark colors and some pale ones also. I liked the bright ones, so they were my first choice. I will be putting them in pots and posting about them later.
  It was hard not to buy more at Horton's . But I am trying to not buy anything I can't use . You all know that is not easy. Have to scale back on want some times and think of need.  We do need flowers and I want flowers....so that's a win-win.  :):)

Horton's Spring Open House....

   Saturday morning, my daughter Angie and I went to Horton's Spring Open House. Where everyone was welcome.  The Horton family greeted everyone who came.

 Lots of displays of  home décor, with soft colors.

  Some Easter things were there, such as blue eggs.  Although I think these would look cute any time of the year.

  This was a faux flower display. I loved the watering can full of orange tulips.

    A bowl of tea lights and pillar candles, that flicker. Never have to worry about forgetting to put the flame out. Lots of old photos, I call these instant "family".

  Wreaths of greenery and some with flowers mixed in.

 I liked the pitcher in this display, a pretty light blue color.

  Tin birdhouses mixed with small wreaths of greenery.Tin letters spelling out "home" on the bookshelf...even though I did not get the "E" in the picture.

 Old mason jars with white tulips, where hanging in the little kitchen area.

  In the potting area of the greenhouse, I found this wonderful big picnic basket full of pansies and a tiny watering can. This would look so cute at a front entrance or on a porch.

Then there's the Horton's homemade  fudges , so many flavors. This is orange creamsicle.

  There are so many flavors it is hard to chose one you want to buy... you want more than one flavor. Even though the Spring Open House was on Saturday, the store will have these wonderful gifts, home decorations , the fudges, many flowers in the greenhouse, for sale everyday. Of course all the hardwares, paints, and home repair items, along with custom made blinds....any time you need them.
  Angie and I had a fun time  looking and buying...plus visiting with the Hortons and citizens of our town. We went to lunch together, enjoyed our time . I'll show you what I bought this week.

Bingo At The Community Center....

   This is Tipton's community center. It houses the boys and girls club. A gymnasium with a walking track above the gym. Many banquet rooms where people have baby and bridal showers. Or family reunions.   Even a food pantry for those in need. 

  The Mount foundation donated money for the center.  I think one of the Mounts was a city judge, one was a literature teacher. That's about all I know of the Mount family.

  It's always clean in this building. Where the circle is on the floor and the door is open, that's where we have bingo.

 

     Some flags and banners hang from the high part of the ceiling.

  This is an ink drawing of all the schools that used to be in our town. The one in the center was Jefferson School.  This community center sit on the land where Jefferson school used to be.  It's close to town. Many activities go on here. I am thankful we have such a nice place to enjoy spending time with  people of our town.  My sister and I played bingo today. I won a nice 20 dollar gift card for the CVS drugstore. That will come in  handy .
   Today is to be sunny and nice here...more rain tomorrow, Sunday and some of next week too.  Still praying for the south, they are going thru so much from all the heavy rains and flooding.  Be safe this weekend . XO

Pansies....

    Horton's got their pansies in today. I love all the pretty colors.  I did not buy any just yet.

  I really like this old tin filled with some spring flowers. and twigs.  I think some sticks or twigs always look good in containers , along side pretty flowers.

 Here's my fake forsythia.  I am going to be putting it in some little vases around the house.  It looks close to being real and that's good. Rain is headed our way. Possibly 3 inches. Please keep the southern states in your prayers  or good thoughts, as the weather is getting scary for them. Flooding amounts of rain are predicted. Bad storms also.  Be safe everyone . XO

Exercise And Work....

   Monday was a day of work which equals exercise. LOL.. Ted and I spent most of  the day cleaning our flowerbeds and the yard.  Still aching from that.  Cut all the flower brush we had saved for the birds to hide in.

   There was enough branches and twigs to make a full tree. Lots of bending over and squats.  We pulled the trailer around with the golf cart (our mule).That saved tons of walking .

 The cornstalks from the fields across the road...what a bother, they were tangled in every shrub  in our yard.

  Cleaned our the containers.  My little chicken planter, why did I leave it out all winter and not even think about it freezing and expanding. Oops, now it's falling apart. :):)

   Lilies are popping thru the soil by the pond.  Hope it's not too soon for them.

  Some of you will know this little viola. It's still green. It had blossoms in Feb...went thru snows and freezing rains. Still green. What a hardy little fellow. 
   I am happy to say, our stick picking for this spring is over ....well except for the occasional branch or twigs here and there during storms.  It was a full morning workout . Ted and I were both aching when we ate our late lunch. We laugh at ourselves when one of us will say, "oh my back, or oh my feet." But  it was a good day's work with very good results.  Our debis is in a big burn pile along with the neighbor's. He and Ted will be burning that and keeping an eye on it , so as not to burn the farm down. LOL.

Headlines....

    This is the front page of the Indianapolis Star...End Of An Era, Peyton Manning is retiring from playing football.  I don't usually give a hoot about pro football...not since Mike  Ditka coached the Bears. LOL  I remember when Walter Payton who played for the Bears was called Sweetness.  Oh and he was pure Sweetness. But I think our own Peyton(spelling differs) is very sweet too.

  Here's some quick stats.18 seasons,2 Vince Lombardi trophies, 4 super bowl appearances, 5 time MVP, All-Time Leader in passing yards(71, 940)Most touch down passes in a season 55, The only quarterback to  lead two different teams to super bowl victories. Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts.

  Here Payton is with coach Dungy.  Love Dungy too. I do not think I have ever seen or heard of Dungy throwing any hissy -fits on the side lines. :):) I just wanted to have my say in celebrating Peyton Manning career in playing football. I am almost sure he'll be involved with the sport in some way, for a few more years.

2016 Events.....

   I received my card , showing all the up coming events at Horton's , for this year.

  The Spring Open House is this coming Saturday. I am so excited to go. Today I will see if my oldest daughter would like to come along with me. I may go in thru this week, to see if the pansies are in the greenhouse there.  I could plant some in the porch containers.:):) They are so very hardy, you know.
   I will be sure to get plenty of photos. I like posting them. My life seems to be every day boring. LOL. So coming up with things to post or write  about on my blog , is challenging. I need to get busy with some craft making.
