Library....

On Monday, the library was digging up the front pavers and had a big pile that said "Free Bricks". So Ted and I stopped and took a few. The we go home and thought about asking for a few more to do a project.
We go back on Tuesday. There's a sign that says, "Do Not Take Bricks, they will be used in the landscaping."
Well I hope so, but I am a bit skeptical.  They should have never given the bricks away, they should have sold them to make money for the library . So no fancy paver project for us. LOL.
But the day ended so beautifully. Gorgeous orange and pink sunset.
I could look at this everyday. Not today though. It's is actually cold here today.  Ted had a little heater running this morning. :)  I told him yesterday, I was not ready to have a fire or turn the heat on. So today I am wearing a sweatshirt. LOL. Crazy weather this year all around.
Now speaking of crazy weather...I am so worried for the people on the east coast. They truly have had too much rain . I pray that hurricane will move out and dissipate .   Let's keep them in our prayers. XO

  1. Happy Saturday Susie. Sorry you could not get more bricks to re purpose at your home. How cool would that have been. Glad you got a few.
It is so chilly here and my heat kicked on so I think we are having fall weather for sure. The weather man said we could be back into the 70's this next week so I am not putting away my flip flops and capri's just yet lol!

    1. Kris, I am not sad about those bricks...I really do not want to do another project just yet. LOL. I just wonder what is happening at the library. Emma and I just got home from there. But I did not asked the ladies, they were so busy, it seemed. We wore fleece jackets today. Breezy and cold. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

    1. Hi Bonnie, I will have a few to think of my library. Our fireplace in town was make from recycled bricks from our old H.S. ...they sold them .The mantle was an old bridge board of the hardest oak...cause cars used to drive over it. LOL. I hope we have a nice long fall season and you too. I am just not into winter. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. Your prayers are heard because that's just what Hurricane Joaquin is doing -- going out to sea. What a relief for all of us. Still got a lot of rain and wind, but nothing like what it could have been. It is cold here today. We turned on the space heater in the living room, then turned up the heat and I wore a sweat shirt to work today. It's supposed to warm up this coming week, though.

  4. Just two weeks ago I was on a sunny island. Average temps were 80-85. Now I have the heat on.
When they tore the west end of Boston down in the late 50's and 60's my dad and I want down and collected many bricks. What's is left is still back at the family home. Are there are brick collectors? These are certainly old.
    Wonderful sunset pictures!

    1. Boston Boy, Oh I am glad you have that wonderful vacation to think about while you are freezing. LOl. Wow, I could not believe how cold it's been today 50 something. Tomorrow will be 60, then 70 again on Monday. Speaking of collecting bricks..We bought a ton of those bricks that were made in Kokomo, Indiana...just north of here. Well Ted and I went to the Treasure mart once and they had a Kokomo brick marked 5 dollars...Ted say, "OMG we are rich !!" I laughed till I almost wet my pants. If I thought we could sell these bricks for 5 dollars each...I would dig them right back up. We used them in town for a patio and two walkways...dug them and brought them here...then used them in the landscape edging and walkways. I told Ted I knew each brick personally, I had handled them so often. LOL. I knew you would love the sunset photos. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  5. I always hope that we can have a month with no AC and no heat on, but we broke down today and turned on a little heat to take the chill off. And it feels good!

Just saw on FB that some cousins in NC are facing flood warnings.

Those sunset photos are spectacular, Susie!

  6. That is just crazy, Susie, that they said free bricks and then to not take them...lol...who's in charge....who's on first? lol

Beautiful sky shots. It is cold here, too, and I started a fire this morning in the family room to warm it up a bit. I do like this weather but dread the coming winter. xo Diana

    1. Diana, I think the library should have sold the bricks in a big unit. LOL. Many years ago, our mayor was on TV talking about our lovely brick streets and the next year they were paved over. LOL. Yesterday was freezing and rainy...that goes thru our bones. :):) Today is to be much warmer. Oh Diana, I am not ready for winter either. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Your photos of the sky are beautiful! It's cold and rainy, and windy here today...there was even some sleet on the windshield....yuck!
    NOT ready for that!!!
Have a GREAT Sunday my dear friend.

    1. Cindy, I saw on the early news this morning, flooding in Charleston ...breaks my heart for them. Well if you got under a hundred degrees...that is good. We barely got to 50, which is cold for this time of year. Our weather is not normal to me. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo,Susie

  10. That's a beautiful sunset! Maybe someone at the library was inspired by what people were doing with the free bricks in their own gardens! -Jenn

    1. Hi Jenn, I'll be happy to see those pavers in the landscape. The front of our library was paved and little flowerbeds thru it. Plus around the east side is lots of nice trees and benches. My granddaughter and I went to the library yesterday and got some books from the sale table. We admired someone's Elvis collection in the display cabinets. That is fun. Hope you are having a great weekend. Thank you for stopping by. Bless you, xoxo,Susie

  11. Darn, that was kind of weird! First take it- then don't take them. It will be interesting to see if they really use them . Gorgeous skies ! I can't believe it, but I did turn the furnace on the other day.

    Blessings,
    Gert

  13. I have been hearing about all this rain on the East Coast, Susie. I can't believe it! Your sunsets are gorgeous. It's been warm here during the day, but in the mornings there is a chill in the air with gentle breezes telling me that Fall is here.

    Have a good week, Susie.
