A Birthday Lady....

Today would have been my mother's birthday. I sure miss that lady. Although I look in the mirror and there she is looking at me. :) Yes, I look more like my mom than I dreamed I would. She's in the white in the first photo and white shirt with vest in the second..
Mommy was a hard working lady and tough as nails when she had to be.  She had her softness at times.  She did not  have much education.....too busy having kids , I guess. But she was a smart person.  You all know she had eleven kids. No she wasn't Catholic either. LOL.  She used to say, "It's a wonder I have my right mind !" Then I would say , "are sure that is your right mind mom? " She could take a joke well. She could dish out as good as she'd get.
Growing up was hard at times. But I always knew mommy loved us.  If you still have your mother and your father , give them a hug for me today.  Bless you. XO

  1. Oh Susie, my thoughts are with you today. It is hard to lose a parent. Both of mine lived to old age and still it was hard to see them leave. I miss them a lot. I always wish I had one more day with them. Blessings on you today.

  10. Susie that was so sweet. Growing up in a large family has it's challenges. My mother in-law came from a family of 12 and she was one of the older ones so she had to help out a lot. It's a hard life to raise that many kids! I live quite a ways from my mom so I only see her when we make special trips. She's 93 and a bit senile- but she makes us laugh. When I see her I always tell her I love her and hug her. My Dad passed suddenly in 1991. There's no more chances after that. Bless your mom in heaven!

  14. Great post, Susie. No matter how old we get we still miss our mothers. My mom's birthday was in September and she would have been 102. She has been gone for almost 35 years. Who ever expected to be saying that? Seems like yesterday. We were blessed to have loving mothers..Judy

  18. Eleven kids! Wow. Was that fun most of the time? I think it would be, but it was hard enough with just three. I miss my mom, too, but as you say, I see her in the mirror and I constantly do things that she did. I would love it if I could give her a big hug and just sit and talk for a while.

  19. Susie, your mom sounds like a wonderful woman. I loved reading about her. And I miss my mom so much as well. Our moms were both tough as nails, as you put it, but had a softness at times too. Strong and soft is a very good combination and the best way to be, in my opinion. Thank you for sharing with us a bit about your mom.

    love, ~Sheri
