Peeking In Horton's.....

Horton's Hardware/greenhouse/emporium is getting ready for Spring.  They are working to get the store in shape and arranging the new spring displays.  I found a cute little chick couple , dressed for Easter.
Pink tulips with apple blossoms, in a big urn, looking sweet.
Lidded jars on pedestals. In the great aqua color, that many love. This was in the kitchen display area, but I think these jars could be used in any room of your home.
dipping spoons with cute sayings stamped on them. Like, espresso yourself.  The butter knife says , "spread some joyous times."  They would all look  charming in one of the lidded jars.
Hope no one got rid of their chickens, as they seem to be back in vogue. This chicken is painted on a big chunk of wood.
Lots of burlap pillows too. This one will fit into a chicken theme nicely. I did pick up some things while in the store. I will show you tomorrow.
It's nice to go to the store when it's not crowded, to be able to speak with the Horton's. Tim and Karen are just the nicest people you would ever want to meet. No longer than I was there, Mr. Horton offered the people that were in the store some free samples of P.B. fudge. I had to refuse...cause you know you will want to buy a pound if you have a taste. :):)
Yesterday here in central Indiana, we broke our temperature record, it got up to 72 degrees on the 20th of February.  Beautiful blue skies all day long !! I sat on the porch and looked at a new magazine that came in the mail and felt like I was on vacation. Hope your day was as good. Enjoy this wonderful Sunday. XO

  4. The 20th was my son's birthday, and it was a glorious day here, too! How I love that Horton's store you showed us - the spoons and the jars are irresistible, but I agree, put the aqua in another room than the kitchen - my kitchen has a chicken theme from 40 years ago (I drag my chickens with me from move to move) - glad they are back in fashion!

    1. Happy birthday to your son. My daughter is doing her kitchen in a chicken theme this year...as she, her hubby and daughter are raising chickens for eggs. LOL. Hope you are loving your good weather. Today is pretty again, but 20 or so degrees cooler. But that is good as long as it isn't snow and wind. :):) Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  7. They have some cute stuff for sale! I guess all of the stores will start getting new inventory in soon. I always like seeing whats new. You had some perfect weather. I think that is the perfect temp. It has been warm here but with clouds and a little bit of rain. Very strange for this time of year.

  13. Susie, does the temperature get higher than 72 degrees in the summertime? It's been cool still in northern California, but starting to warm up a bit. Horton's has a nice selection of spring stuff. Love that little chick couple hehehehe. And the jars are nice for Easter goodies. The aqua color is so pretty. It reminds me of the turquoise in my kitchen.

    Have a happy week, Susie.

    1. Sheri, Yes, sometimes it's in the 90's in crazy hot summers...which is way too hot for me. I like 60-70 degrees and could live with that all year round. LOL I just got curious to see what was happening at Horton's and went before receiving their Spring market card in the mail. They mail out postcards to remind people who have left their addresses. I think a person could re-paint the pedestals and lids of those jars...any color to suit them. We are to get snow, rain on Wednesday evening...maybe a heavy snow too. How crazy is that, after this weekend? Blessings, love you, xoxo,Susie

    1. Linda, We live 50 miles north of Indianapolis, In. I think I know why you thought Tenn. There's a town called Tiptonville in Tenn. My folks were from Celina, Tenn. So maybe you had reason to think that. LOL> Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  15. I LOVED LOVED LOVED the weather Saturday! We went to Horton's a couple of weeks ago. I had to buy a couple of Valentine's gifts. Love that store. She told me she was only sending out one post card for the entire year of open houses this year, so save the dates!!!

  17. The individual that owned that place had a much different life in his youth . The old building HSS been left empty for a reason ; however, it will probably be for dale this summer .
