In Memory....

A pair of angels in memory of my brother and his wife.  It is hard to believe they has been gone from us for 17 years. We all still miss them. My brother Miles and sister-in-law Brenda were high school sweethearts. Always together . Still together.
Miles was a detective for the Indiana State police for 26 years. Brenda worked the dispatch for the sheriff's department. They had two children. Miles and Brenda had been married 30 years at the time of their deaths.  A young man ran a stop sign, clipped a semi truck and the truck struck my brothers car.  They did not suffer, thankful for God's mercy. Not wanting to make anyone sad or uneasy, I just miss them.
Hope all of you are ready to have a great day in the sunshine. I will be working on weeds here.  Wish my flowers grew as well as my weeds. :) Enjoy this day. XO

  1. I've been gone on vacation and just getting caught up on blogs. So sorry to hear what your daughter is going through, as I said before the waiting is the worst part.
Love your front porch/deck, perfect place to unwind.I like sunflowers too, but we have no luck with them here.

    1. Janet, Glad you are safely home from your vacation. My daughter and I have talked about all her ordeal. She's being patient now and just planning a new scan in a couple months, then they will compare all her x-rays and scans. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Jenn, I better tell our loved one how much they mean to us every chance we get. The last time I spoke with my brother Miles...I was putting mulch down and I could not remember if I told him I loved him...but Ted reminded me that none of us part without saying we love each other. So I must have told him. I truly hope that I did. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Liz, You are right, in an instant many lives were changed. I don't think my mother ever got over it. Even though she had 10 more children her pain could not be eased at times. I think a mother's love for her children is the strongest. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Thank you sweetie for the hugs. The time of summer has much to do with my sadness. Miles loved playing golf and would have been here during the 4th and playing golf with my other brothers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, I have to think it was God's will...for my brother had pulled off the road to avoid the semi's careening...yet where he stopped was a bulge in the ditch and they were ran over by the semi. Otherwise they may have been pushed, who knows if it would have pushed them aside. My brother served in the Marines and then joined the state police. He was working some cold crimes cases at the time of his death. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    2. Vee, There was a huge funeral with police dept represented from all over Indiana. When a young sergeant called out the vollies for the 21 gun salute ,I had to concentrate on his face, to keep from breaking down. I don't think mommy ever got over the loss. Miles was only 48. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kathy, I had ordered the angels and they came right after Miles and Brenda's funeral...so I named them Miles & Brenda. So strange you have them and your father's gone 17 years also. Blessings to you honey. xoxo, Susie

  9. So sorry for your loss Susie. It's always so hard and while time miraculously heals our hearts, it doesn't take away the sting of death.

  10. Weeds seem to thrive no matter what the surroundings. I am so sorry for your loss and I understand about thinking of them. Our hearts do heal, but a scar remains. I am glad to remember the lost loved ones. The memories are good.

    1. Nonnie, I did take care of those weeds. I had to spray poison ivy...hoping it takes the poison to the roots. I miss our lost loved ones...but have so many good memories...that helps us thru. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Susie, It was hard to loss them both at the same time...but I think God knew they would want it that way. To be together. It all could have been avoided if the young man had paid attention while driving. I think we always long for one more hug or kind word spoken. Blessings, xoxo, love you, Susie
