Beautiful Weekend....

Yesterday's sunset.  It was a windy but gorgeous day , Sunday.   The entire weekend was nice. Chilly mornings and pretty days with sunshine.
Evening shadows on the shop. I always love to see these.
Shadows of my garden decorations on the building's wall.
I hope this ornament never falls apart, because I have loved from day one.
Here's some dragonfly garden picks' shadows. This is by the pond, along side the shop.
Yesterday was one of those dream days....where you wish you could be watching a college football game , outside, none of those enclosed places. But since I could not do that I started raking leaves. Then Ted came out and helped me. We raked the front yard and part of the back. Now Ted will have to take the leaves to the neighbor's fields. :):)
This is one of our tulip poplar trees. We have two and the neighbor has one also. Plus a catalpa, sycamore, maples, birch, flowering redbud, and  crabapple. Then there's the pines with their cones and needles.
There's leaves in every little spot out here.  This mum looks good now, but with frost being forecasted this week....well who knows if I'll even cover them.  I would like to have some hang on till after this month , so I will probably cover the containers.
Ted and I took 3 big bags of things to goodwill , on one of our outings this weekend. That was good to rid ourselves of some excess.  We went to tractor supply and bought a tub of mouse poison for the shop, lean-to , and shed.  Since we have no cats around here...we have mice in those areas.  I tried to borrow Emma's cat Izzy. LOL. She was not about to loan that cat.
I sure hope all of you enjoyed your weekend. Wishing you a good week. XO

  1. It sounds like you had a really, really good weekend, Susie. I love those shadow pictures on the outbuilding. I love to see the sun hitting a building. It always looks 'joyful' to me.

I have a load to go to GW today, too. It will be good to get rid of some more 'stuff'. This is mostly John's old clothes. He shrunk from an XL to a Medium men's size.
Have a great day, Susie!! xo Diana

    1. Diana, It's sad that John has lost so much weight. But I know you were happy to take things to goodwill, so someone will get use of them. I always feel like we are both happy to thin out our wardrobes. I did enjoy my weekend. I know these days are precious right now. Blessings to you and John, take care of each other. xoxo, Susie

  2. Hi Susie ~ What a nice weekend you had. We had a good one too with middle daughter and hubby. My heart breaks though because she's dealing with some issues. We never stop parenting do we???

Love shadows....they make the best pictures ever. Blessing for a great week.

    1. Wanda, When I was younger, I thought I would be on top of the world, once my daughters were raised. But you are so right...once a mom always a mom...we never stop worrying about our children. I will pray for your daughter. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Wasn't it THOUGH!!?? Even though we spent a couple of hours at the early matinee on Saturday, of a movie we'd long been awaiting. Then that made it seem like Sunday, somehow, because we went out to lunch at our usual Sunday place. We did a little Michael's/Hobby Lobby run for a few more little items for the GRANDS' Halloween houses we're going to decorate on Wed. They home-school, but have so many weekend Church and camping activities, it's lovely to have them just come over on a weekday sometimes.

    I love your shadows.

    1. June, You touched my heart. I remember when I first read about Landon. I was amazed at how you did what you have to do....but I know that it's pure mothers love that helps you thru. We love our children so much. I see people all the time, that I think they may need a hug. So I smile at them...so I am not encroaching in their territory. Smiles are acceptable. Blessings to you sweet June. I am so glad we are friends. xoxo, love you too, Susie

  6. Sounds like you had a wonderful Sunday, Susie. I love fall days like this...sunny with a nip in the air. I don't have much garden clean up anymore, just raking as needed.

We have the move problem here every fall. I load up the closets with the poison, especially the room where our parrot is. The love it's seeds.

Keep those pretty pics coming, dear friend! :-D

  7. Susie, I love the shadow reflections on the shed, especially the dragonflies. That is nice that you and Ted got out there together and raked the Fall leaves. I bet it felt good to give some of the old stuff to Good Will. Oh no, Mice! Susie, I have a dreadful fear of mice, eeeeek. Too bad none of the neighbors don't have any cats.

    Have a wonderful week, Susie.

    1. Sheri, Ted and I have always worked well together. I do not help cut the wood or split it but I have stacked it and carried it in. If he works on a project in the shop, I will sometimes sweep up the messes. I help paint and stain some times also. I hate mice too. They are invasive and nasty. I think the coyotes got all the neighbors cats. Even the man down the road had about 15 cats and they are gone. Blessings to you sweet girl, hope you are loving your new home and town. xoxo, Susie

  8. Susie, those are really nice pictures and you have such pretty fall colors around your place and those shadows are really nice, too. I bet it was tricky trying to rake leaves in the wind, though. You're so lucky to have all those different trees. The only tree we have in our front yard doesn't turn colors and the leaves don't fall. What is happening though is that the roots are sending up shoots all over the front lawn! Have a good week.

    1. Nonnie, The best part of raking like we did...it was with the wind helping us. I do not mind raking then. LOL. The front looks good now. I do like our trees...but wish I had sugar maples....they give the best colors. Blessings for a fun filled week, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kathy, I know you love sunsets too. :):) I do love my little heart with the bird. I have had it for many years now. It's rusty but still heavy. Good luck purging things...it does feel good to get rid of things. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  12. I love the color of the sunset shining on the building. I'm still working on getting rid of stuff I don't use or love, it's a chore. Good idea to take it to Goodwill. I thought I might have a garage sale, but it's getting too late in the year now. And they are a lot of work anyway. lol! So, I'll most likely go to Goodwill or donate to the Upscale/Resale which benefits several charities.
Need a cat? I have some I could give you! :) Not sure how good they are at mousing, but we never see mice so I assume they are the reason.
    Have a nice week!

    1. Cheryl, I do know that once our neighbors had 10 white barn cats. The people down the road had a cat sitting on every bannister of their porch. The coyotes must had gotten them...I never see any around here. I like that you have a place for donating that helps charities, Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  13. The shadows that are cast by the Fall sun are one of the reasons I love this season so much! Another blogger sketched a shadow onto a box and painted on it. Now that preserves the beauty of Fall!!
