Chickens......

This is some of my daughter's chickens. They were in the leaves scratching like mad. I told Liz if she tied them to a handle they could be like automatic rakes. LOL
Here the "boss". His name is Samson and he can be  mean. Brave as can be too,  he will walk right up to you. The sun is shining on his head and tail feathers. I love the color of his tail feathers, a blackish teal color.
This hen is pretty, I like her.
Now this is the cutest chicken of all.  Liz's daughter in law(Emily)  painted Layla's foot and had her stamp a piece of paper...then added the face. Liz framed it for her kitchen.  I want one !  Layla has been saying Nana....that really makes me smile.
Today may be 60 degrees. The week ahead is to be 60 about everyday. The weatherman said this morning that come Sunday, it could get to 70 degrees...this is a winter month. Please keep all our people in the bad weather areas in your thoughts and prayers.  Enjoy this day. XO

  1. Oh- I LOVE that hand-turkey. How cute is that! Reminds me of the tree one CJK did for Christmas with his hand.

Love the chickens. It reminds me of the farm where I grew up. It was my job to collect the eggs...a job I hated because of some mean chickens. lol xo Diana

  2. Don't you just love to watch a flock of biddies scratching around the yard? We haven't had any in a long time (most memorable one we raised IN THE HOUSE on hardwood floors when Sis was a little girl. She now has a flock of six in her immense yard in TX---in a HOA neighborhood. All hens so the neighbors won't hear any crowing). She sends me videos of "the girls" all the time.

Hope it DOES stay 60 all week. Got lots of cleaning to do, and would love to have windows and doors open. Just don't want to fool all the plants and then have SNOW in March.

    stay warm!

    1. I do enjoy seeing the chicken out running free. You can't get too close some times cause Samson will come at you. :) He's tough. I keep telling Liz to make dinner out of him. LOL. I can't believe our temperatures. Hope you can open the windows...but I really do not want the trees and plants blooming too soon. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Oh, those mischievous chickens. The hen is such a pretty color. That is the cutest painting of Layla's foot, Susie. I can see why it was framed. How sweet that she calls you Nana now.

It's raining again today, and I saw a yellow car and it brightened a dreary day. Have a nice Friday and weekend, Susie.

I can't wait for her to call out my name some day. Liz sent me a video of her saying, "Where is Nama?" Bless you, hope you aren't in the heavy rain area. xoxo, love you, Susie

  7. Makes me think of spring when the chickens are scratching about. They'll take to their nests soon. We're having 60's as well and 70's next week. Everything is trying to bud out and it'll get bit for sure. I feel so bad for those in the bad weather areas. It goes from one extreme to another it seems. Hope you have a nice weekend. Hugs, xo

My son has always called his grandmother in England "Nana". If I ever have a grandchild, they will probably call me "Old grouchy lady". LOL. xx

    1. Kay, I laughed about your "grandma" name...that would have easily have been my mom's name at times. LOL. I knew when I started have grands, I wanted to be nana because there were all the other grandmas. So when the kids said nana the grands knew it was me. :):) Blessings to you for a nice weekend, xoxo, Susie

  12. I love chickens! They do eat so many bugs! Love the artwork. This weather has been wonderful and they are calling for 69 by Monday- my boob smashing day! At least it will be nice when we are out and about and I shouldn't get chilled to the bone for a change. Been outside today and just sat in the sun for a bit. Wonderful winter. (So far)
