New Treasures....

 These are my finds from the Goodwill store in Kokomo.

 This looks like a cocktail shaker. The cap is missing from the pouring holes. 

                                    
  This little  leather wristlet purse, looks like the hand tooled leathers from Mexico .  You know from days of old.

 This is the shaker with the top on it. I thought I could use it as a vase and this top could be a flower frog.  Ted bought some old candles while at goodwill. He makes fire starters from the wax. Way cheaper than buying the starters.
  The weatherman keeps saying rain for our area. The paper shows a five day outlook, little clouds with rain drops shown for everyday. We got 1/4 inch of rain on Wednesday night. The town 5 miles from here got over an inch. So I think in the wee hours of Saturday is when we may get the most rain. Just hard to plan things...such as the bug man coming to do his summer treatment...remember those ants I found here in April....I sure do and I never want to see another ant in my house. I have goosebumps just thinking of them.

Chasing Butterflies....

   I saw this butterfly in our pine trees....so I go in and get my camera. You know as soon as I tried to get his photo he flies off to the ditch across the road. I chase after him . Got a good shot.

   By now the camera lens is foggy over from the humidity.

  I wipe the lens and get one more good picture.  What a beauty.  I smile every time I see a butterfly.

  This is Tuesday 's sunset.  We've been busy around here. Found time for a bit of fun. Ate lunch out yesterday. Today we have a couple runs to do.  I have a mission...haul things to goodwill stores and then go inside and look around. :):)

Up Dates....

   This is some information about the root canal I was to have. Yes, I said once again, "was too have." I went to the endodonist on Aug. 1st. .  Of course they take more x-rays...not trusting the x-rays my dentist did in July. For crying in a bucket. The assistant takes two x-rays. One of the tooth I say is hurting and one of a molar I had root canals on ,over two years ago...that has been sensitive ever since that day.
  The dentist comes in and says..."I am not doing a root canal on that tooth. I see nothing wrong with it. But that back molar looks a bit iffy. I want you to make an appointment at my other office , in another town. I have a 3-D x-ray machine there. That will cost you 200 dollars out of pocket for that x-ray. "  What???  For now I am putting this on hold. Maybe in a couple weeks, I  have to work up the nerve to go.

   Yesterday was class mate brunch.  One lady is still having surgeries on her knees and ankles. Yikes.  It was only a small gathering this time. Always fun to see everyone and catch up on one another's  lives. I am the tall one in the back. I have never thought of myself as tall...but this photo makes me look the tallest. :):)
    Teddy Bear's brother Cliff has been moved to the therapy floor at the hospital. He will be there for 3 weeks intense therapy. Then sent home , but will be getting in home therapy . Thanks for all the prayers. You are the best friends.

Around Here....

 The corn is being dusted around these parts . The flying over head of the daring crop dusters, totally excites me.  I would just love to fly along.

 The most crop dusters around here fly those yellow  colored planes. I have no idea what make or model.

   Just another 5-6 hours and we can bring our vehicles home and park in the garage. The driveways look great .  We had the neighbor's permission to park in their  farm's gravel  drive, that was so nice of them.

   The catalpa tree is loaded with these long bean pods. They will be turning brown in the fall . A few times, Savannah , Emma and I have painted the pods to look like snakes. Just a fun kid thing.

  Yesterday was a really good day. The skies cleared in the afternoon...no clouds.  This is our sunset, ending a sweet Saturday in summer.
   Our state fair is going on this week. It  opened on Friday. I used to love to go see the horses, chickens, and all the art exhibits. I never go any more. It's too long a day in the sun on my feet. :(

Men At Work.....

    Friday afternoon , the crew that does  driveway sealcoating came. There were two crews. 

 The prep crew. They trimmed along the drives.  Filled in any cracks in the pavement. That was a crew of four young men. All working steady. Then they drove off and a crew of  three came.

  The sealcoat crew, came in and went right to work. I ask if I could get a photo. They said yes, so I told them to look up and look pretty. :)

   These fellows did a great job. just worked till it was done and never left not one bit of a mess.  The man in charge even took his shoes off to bring the bill up to the door. Four hours after applying the sealcoat, you can walk on the drives but must wait 48 hours to drive on them.

  This is the shop/garage drive...it has a curved area along the flower beds. Thankfully our neighbor lady let us park our vehicles in her gravel farm drive. She also had her garage drive coated. Then a fellow from down the road stopped and asked the crews to come to his house. They gave him a business card . They send out  the owner and he evaluates the drives and what it will cost.  They give a discount for okaying the contract within two weeks.
  Ted and I have decided to send extra along with the bill as a tip for each fellow who worked. I already told the crew boss, who happens to be the owners SIL.  :):) Believe me the total price was very reasonable. So glad to have this done.
   Today is low humidity here and it feels so good. I will be able to run a few errands and sit outside .  I want to wish all of you a great weekend. XO

Into Summer....

  You may see me running along the ditch to get a photo of a butterfly. LOL. Here's a pretty one on some clover.The fellow that runs the field across the road has yet to mow his ditch...but remember he hit the telephone pole last year and cut the phone lines to the neighbor's house.

  Turtle dove sitting on the wires, cooing. I love hearing them.

 The mums are blooming very well. It's some color , although I do hope some wait till later to bloom.

  The creeping jenny is touching the ground now.. I really have never used this filler before , I really like the looks of it. So I will be using it again next year.

  Sedum in bloom and every flying thing around loves it.

  Here's my hydrangea and it has no flower heads at all. It is a good size, but I think it will not bloom this year.
  Thank you to all who have prayed for Ted's brother Cliff.  The hospital has decided to move Cliff to an acute center(??)  on a different floor. The center specializes in therapy for strokes.  Cliff has  100%   blockage in his right carotid artery. No surgery, it will be treated with meds.  This is a bit of skinny on Cliff. He was scheduled twice to have his  carotid artery worked on.....twice it was canceled by his dr. The doctor should have had another do it in his stead, but did not. This is where Cliff should have insisted on another doctor, and not have waited . Dear friends, this is something to think about...never put off an important health issue.

Lots To Do....

   Ted and I went to Liz and Matt's to cut up a tree in the neighbor's yard.  We were greeted by Sam, the big slobbery dog. LOL. He loves us and gets excited to see us.

   Even Ozzy the cat,came to sit  and watch us for a bit.

  Ted put his wood cutter chaps on . These are for safety. Matt has a pair too.

   Ted marks the tree every 16 inches....for log length.  You can see that Sam  has to be with us.  I thought I would be helping Ted, but Matt made it home in time to help.

   This is one pile of wood from the limbs of the tree...It's a beech tree.  You get a lot of BTU's from this wood.

  So with Matt helping Ted, I go visit the chickens. Samson the rooster crowed almost the whole time we were there.

   This is some pictures of our mums here at our house.

  Plus some black eyed susans. The flower looks so pretty but the leaves have black spots on them.

 This is the corn field across the road from Liz's house.  As the fellows cut wood, I cleaned the garage and washed a ton of dishes. Then I trimmed some small trees saplings from Liz/Matt's yard. Ted and Matt cut the neighbor's tree up into chunks and then split some of it. When they came in they both were soaking wet from sweat.  They wiped off and changed t-shirts and we went to the local café for lunch. It's a working man's place so many men were sweaty and dirty. :):)
   Ted and I had to come on home....as Ted got word from one his little brother, that his older brother Cliff was in the hospital from having a stroke.  Cliff's moving , can move both sides, trying to talk, somewhat confused and edgy. Prayers would be so greatly appreciated. Please.
