Remembering 9-11....

  These are the reflecting ponds where the twins towers stood.  The names of those that died in the towers are on the walls of these ponds.

 Let us never forget ...that we need to always be alert. Take time to think of the people who are no longer with us. Some moms, dads, friends ,and strangers.....who went to work one day and did not come home that evening.   Lives lost and other lives would never be the same again.
 Today here is a pretty day and a bit cooler.  I am thankful for weather like this. XO

Second Post Today.....

   I just could not stand it....not having many shots of the new clothing line at Horton's . So I went back to the store this morning. Bless Karen's heart, she said it was okay for me to take some things off the rack for pictures.  This one was already hanging on this screen door. This is my favorite. A plaid scarf, soft orange flowy jacket , over a ruffle trimmed shift top.  Wish I had tried that jacket on. :):)

  A plaid top/ jacket  lined in stripes.  No pinching at the shoulders...know what I mean ladies?

  Floral and ecru lace tunic tops.  Stripes with lace down the sleeve...in a logan green.

  I absolutely loved both of these top/dresses...If you are tall they would be long tops...if you are 5 '4" or shorter, these would make cute dresses. The black one is lace overlay. This  one comes in light coral and white also.

  Oh now where are my bell bottoms. LOL. Just kidding. This is the sweetest crocheted top. Can be worn over any color and look good.

  Some of these clothes have tons of sewing...just look at the seams of this.

   This is one of the brands ( umgee)   This is actually on a vest of sheer material trimmed in laces. A bit of a vest that could glam up an everyday shirt.

   Why do stripes make me think of Paris?? Could it be Coco's influence.?  Well dear friends, this post goes with my previous post from earlier this morning. Hope you enjoy them both.

A Little More Of Horton's.....

  I will apologize right off.  I just took some quick shot of the clothing racks at Horton's. The only displays were the windows and the wall near the ceiling. But if you click on the photos you can see them better, hopefully. I am thinking of going in on Friday when I meet my daughters.

   I call this style of clothing a bit Romantic, maybe a bit Gypsy. It's flowy and fun.

   I like the taupe brown scarves with these ecru pieces.There were hats about the store also.

 Here's a   top with a  roomy bag.

  I found a small display of silver jewelry made from spoons.

  Well this is what has happened to grandma's  table silverware. Very pretty.

 The spoon rings were cute.....wonder where the spoon ring I used to wear in the 70's can be.

  The were plenty of pumpkins. So I am showing some of the bedazzled ones  They are all soft and cute. Here's one in pinks.

  This beauty was a work of art....laces, pearls and ribbons.

   I thought this pumpkin had a very adorable stem. A piece of grandma's silver service. Plus a bling piece with laces. These are sitting with the mercury glass.
  Hope all of you get a chance to go to the Horton's fall showing on September the 24th.  Christmas Open House is the 5th of November, and Christmas Vender Market will be December the 3rd.. They have many things to see and buy all the other days too.

Wednesday In Town....

    I went into town today. Stopped by Horton's. They are full of mums and fall decorations.

   There's a new clothing boutique there. Some very cute things, I will show tomorrow.

  This corner of orangy mums is so  much like autumn .

    This is a planting of  pink flowers and ivy in a chicken feeder.

   Different sizes of tin stars. A nice big Farmer's Market sign.

 In the greenhouse area, which was so steamy the lens of my camera would not stay cleared. Those stars are made of wood.  Mums everywhere in there just beginning to bud out. Tomorrow I will show all of you some of the cute things that I saw in the store.
  Our town is busy with men setting up tents all over the town square in preparations for our annual Pork  Festival.  It begins on Thursday evening. Goes till midnight Saturday. I used to take my daughters to the parade(Saturday afternoon) for years and years. Then we all started meeting up at a friend's lawn with all the grands for the parade. Now I am doing well to spend part of Friday with my daughters  walking through and eating lunch there.
   My favorite part is just being with my girls and seeing the art tent....where our local artists enter their  art for prizes . So many talented people in our town ....as in your very own.

My Career, Celebrating Labor Day.....

   This is my certificate of completing my apprenticeship ,. This  is from the United States Department of Labor.  After four years as an apprentice , I became a journeyman electrician.

   I served my apprenticeship at Delco Electronics of General Motors corp. I didn't want my whole name to show...LOL   Most of you know my full name.

   Here's the graduating ceremony. That's me in front with a curly perm. :):)  After 4 years of on hands training and classes of  blueprint  reading, algebra, geometry, trig., physics, ac-dc fundamentals, refrigeration, So many I can't recall them all. Then there's classes of safety things, such as confined spaces,  asbestos removal, hi-lift safety, lock-out safety...on and on...

    I had a lots of homework, while going to the classes and working at the same time. Work days go to school twice a week at night.

   When I topped out(getting thru school and becoming a journeyman) , the fellows I worked with made me this pink tool pouch.  I still have it , but never used it at work. LOL

  Here's my work pals in one of the departments I work in. We did construction, truck shop, board repair,  It was a great career, good benefits, and pay.

  I truly enjoyed my job . Most of the fellows I worked with , were like brothers to me. I knew there wife's and children' s names. I miss working at times.

  Recently I gave my tools and tool boxes to my grandson Skylar. This is one young man who will use these tools.
  Hope all of you had a great weekend. I sure did. Even though we work some of it here. The weather was perfect. Enjoy the short week. XO

Work, Glorious Work......

  I have to  glamourize this post. LOL   Here's some lovely blue and white bags of cement mix...can just about go with anything in your wardrobe that has stains , rips , and holes. :):) 11 bags weighing  60 pounds each.

  A very neutral stack of pressure treated lumber with hints of green. So pleasing to the eye,  but hard to carry. Wow...this wood hauling tested my metal ....maybe not Ted's . :) So much for glamour. This is going to be the deck at the back door.

  I have been meaning to show all of you our corn crop.  Yes, it's official we are farmers..  It may not count if squirrels did the planting. I have just been letting this grow to see how tall it would get. So crazy.   ZZZ... I must be about bored out of my mind.

  Oh at last , some of my favorite stuff.... This is Wednesday's sunset. Very golden .

   Early this morning. It's going to be another beautiful day. The AC is turned off for now and the windows are open. I am loving that. Fresh air blowing thru the house.  Don't all of you just love when you do not have to have the  heat or AC. on ?

Just A Hint Of Fall....

   The bumble bees are really working the sedum over.  There were  8 big bees on it yesterday.

    When I was a kid, I was a scared of bumble bees , but would catch them in a jar. Watch them , then let them go. Now I know not to swat at any bee and they usually won't sting you.

  I saw a couple wooly worms on the driveway. Both were a rich brown color.

   There were leaves on the porch . Some are turning colors.

  I washed the porch walls yesterday. Oh it was a work out. I used one of the scrub brush meant for pots and pans.  Living among farm fields and wind this part of the house gets very dirty. I still have all the pillows, cushions , and throws in the house , because of rain threats.

  Late afternoon looked like rain. It never did rain.

  I played around with the table décor. Mixing in some fall colors. My little sign says,"  There's simply no place quiet like home."
  Here it is the first day of September. It's going to be a busy time. Ted is helping Emma's dad cut wood today, since it's cooler. You all know Ted is retired. Matt works one of the crazy swing shifts...so he has odd days off from work. So the wood cutting is usually on Matt's schedule.
