A Few Odds & Ends....

Here's the rose I have been feeding. It has lots of blooms now, but for some reason still looks sparse.
Do any of you remember when my daughter and I junked some lounge chairs from the our city's pool  trash?? Here's the chairs on my daughter's patio.  She was getting ready to scrub them . I think they will clean up nicely. She will give them a longer life and use them at least this summer.
Ted put an anti algae in the one of the water features, now it looks as if the birds are taking a bubble bath.  I ask if it was safe for the birds as they drink and bath here. He assured me it was fine. I left the barrels the same as last year. I had thought of staining them an aqua color...but changed my mind. Well come on , you all know how I am. LOL.
Wishing everyone a great weekend. Be safe. XO

  1. Susie,
Yes, I remember the lounge chairs that you got from the swimming pool. They look nice on your daughter's patio. Oh, that Ted is always making improvements around the house. You are so lucky he loves to be outdoors and gets things done. I've never heard of an anti-algae solution before.

Enjoy the weekend, my dear Susie.

    1. Sheri, On hot days algae will grow in ponds and water features..so the additive was to kill the algae...keeping the water fresher. I think Angie is going to love her chairs. LOL. Hope your weekend is a great too honey. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie

  2. I have a couple of roses that don't have an blooms but lots of greens - I think I need to give them another dose of rose food as well. I guess I should add it to my very long to-do list!

    1. Your list is like a scroll by now. You are a hard working girl, that's for sure. There's one bud on the rose my daughter left me in charge of for her. I hope it gets more than one rose. I am the worst rose gardener. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Hi Susie, Thank you for your sweet comment about my runner. Great find on those chairs-they will get a lot of use this summer. I'm glad you found an anti-algae to add-we have a waterfall but add shock-I just hope it never harms the birds.
Have a great weekend and stay cool.

    1. Noreen, My daughter and I still laugh about those chairs. She went to see her daughter in Florida right after school closed for the summer. She said she and Sierra went junking too. found some shelves that Sierra needed for her apartment. LOL. Like mother, like daughter, like granddaughter. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. You certainly have lots of rose blooms! Which you wanted, I'm sure.

It's interesting... Did the rose food, only produce blooms? And not leaves? ,-) That's sort of what it looks like, yes?

Well, rose bushes are supposed to have roses! So, why not??? :-)

  5. Those lounge chairs look nice. Can you spray paint them? I love watching birds and running water.

    1. Linda, I think there;s a paint you can use on plastic. My daughter has some padded cushions to put on those chairs. So I don't think she'll paint them. I sat on the porch this evening and listened to the birds singing and watched the hummingbird flying to both feeders. Blessings for a nice weekend, stay cool. xoxo, Susie

  6. I'm glad that the lounge chairs got rescued, hate to see something trashed that other people could enjoy. We do that too much in this country, don't we?

I bet that rose bush shows up much better in person. It's hard to get the full effect of it in a picture. I adore red roses!

    Have a good weekend, Susie!

    1. Dewena, You are so right. My Ted saw someone throwing away a sweeper and said < "I bet it just needs a new belt or something simple." It's a throw away world, we live in now. I saw a chicken coop made from an old dryer...too cute. Well you are somewhat right on the roses, they look so pretty, but the leaves look small. I hope it makes it thru the season in good shape. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Those lounge chairs look great! I would have taken them too.

Love your bubbly water feature. Maybe it will stop doing that after it runs through for awhile.

    1. Kathy, Angie will have those chairs for awhile if I know her. She already has some big cushions for them. I am hoping the foaming stops on the water features. We may have to change the water out..and that 's a lot of water in the pond. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. Louis Dean cleaned our ponds today! The mosquitoes were thick as thieves yesterday so he treated the yard with stuff!
I think your fountain is so sweet! No wonder the birds love it!

    1. Linda, You may want to invest in a fogger. Ted has one he uses when we had company coming over to be outside. I am hoping the foaming stops in the pond and water barrels . They both have pumps, so that keeps the water moving to ward off mosquitoes. I try to remember the birdbaths and refresh them every few days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. My climbing roses were always hit tor miss at the lake-each year different. Wonder what they look like now? Sniff...

Those are cool chairs, I hope she finds good cushions-maybe Home Depot?

I have tiny birdbath about ten inches off the ground but the birds use it. It was full of rust so I sanded and spray painted it. Then I rinsed it good and so far I haven't seen any sick birds. ;-(

    1. Blondie, I am glad to read that others have odd roses too. One year I only had five blooms on Kathy's rose...this year there's one bud so far. The red rose has looked better and it has looks worse. I know you miss your summer get away place...but soon, you will all be back there having a great time. I have often thought of make a dirt or sand bath for the birds. have you ever seen them rolling in dirt. MY husband says it is because they have lice. ewee. Blessings to you honey. xoxo, Susie
