Sunny Weekend.....

The sun has shined this weekend. Making me smile , even with my stuffy nose. You can see the weeping willow is leafing out.
Our crabapple tree is ready to bloom. Oh look at that sky.
Ted did roll the lawn yesterday. Plans on mowing again today. The man is a mowing machine. LOL
My daughter Karen sent this photo of a bouquet she picked from her flowerbed, for her daughter Savannah.  I am telling you some times we milk those birthdays and Savannah certainly has this one. She has celebrated all of March and even now on the 2nd day of April ,is going to the movies with her mom. One more outing before school starts tomorrow.  Today is the last day of their spring break.
I think Savannah's brother Skylar worked thru his spring break. :) Savannah and her parents had adventures. Emma and her parents did also.  I think there's about 8 more weeks of school in this year.
I did get to sit out on the porch yesterday and write a letter to one of my sisters. She doesn't do emails or texting...so I just write to her lots. Yes, we talk on the phone, but I still write and so does she.
Wishing all of you a great Sunday. XO

    1. Karen, When I see the flowering trees, I always think of my mother. She would see one and say, "Oh I wish that tree was in my yard." I told her once she would have to own a forest, for all the trees she wanted. LOL. Hope you had a great weekend . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  5. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I've been on vacation. Sunny SUNNY Florida! I'll be posting about it this week. I posted our picture on my blog tonight. Just thought I'd let you know. I know that seems forever ago. I LOVE that you write letters to your sister. I hope you keep them. I wish I had some of the letters I received when I was younger. Especially the ones to my Great Aunt and my two cousins. We wrote all the time. I think we should all celebrate our birthdays all month long. My sister does! Chat later!

  6. Did you ever think you'd use the words "still write"? That's like "still cook" or "still read," to me---and the feel of that real fountain pen, flowing out your words and thoughts to someone you care about---that's just the loveliest part. And that they "write back," is a great blessing and boon. I think we all need a "Doesn't do e-mail" person in our lives, if for nothing else, to keep us aware of the lovely moments of stillness between words and thoughts, as we send and receive in that age-old way which they keep alive and we so easily forget.

We dash down so many letters and spaces on the fly, with great gulps of information and doings and sharings, like we're out to get it all out there before we forget. But there's the quiet moment on the porch, with the little table holding pen and ink and paper---oh, all those lovely papers, with their different textures and colours and feel---those moments are akin to worship, on a small plane, I think, contemplating and putting down the slow, even lines to be read and savored and kept long beyond the bottle of ink and the billions of bytes cast into the air by our flying keyboards.

What a lovely thought you've conveyed this morning, beyond the Spring weekend and those incredibly blue skies we enjoyed. I think I'm going to go take down my (real, hold-it-in-your-hand) address book and get out one of those packs of the Spring floral paper. Even in here, in a warm chair with a cup of tea, it will evoke Summer Sunshine to send out a note or two to those I love.

    You, too, Indiana Friend,

    1. Rachel, You are so eloquent. I loved reading your comment. I love great speakers and writers. I know that when I worked mainly with men...I spoke much like them...yes, even cussed. I try to break myself of that habit quickly after retiring...but oh sometimes the bad words fly. LOL. Basically , I am a good person. :):) I laugh as I write that, why? Do I doubt myself? Or what others preceive as bad? When I write to my sister..we write of our memories that could tie into today events or thoughts. It's nice to get "real" mail in the box and walk down the drive to reach in the mailbox and see what is there...Some times it is those hairy black spiders...goose bumps on my scalp just writing that. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  7. Hi Susie, I wanted to stop by to tell you how much I appreciate your prayers for my surgery last Monday. Diana posted a prayer request on her blog and I am full of gratitude! I am slowly recovering but wanted you to know how very much I appreciate you thinking of me. :-) I love weeping willows they have always been one of my favorites and everything in Spring, all the new awakenings is my favorite time. Have a wonderful week!
    Blessings,

  8. Susie,

Your post today gave me such an inspiration to post about the joys of "real writing," that I just dashed down a great long comment, and I thank you for the lovely compliment.

I just got going and the words flew, so I posted it and some thoughts about writing-with-a-pen on LAWN TEA just now, and linked to this one, as well.

Thank you for your kind words, and I do hope that we may meet someday.

  10. Susie, that's nice that you wrote your sister a letter. Sometimes people just like getting notes and cards in the mail, and since she doesn't do e-mail, that's even more special getting something in the mail. I bet it was nice sitting on the porch looking out at Ted's freshly mowed lawn. : ) It looks so green and groomed. Your blossom trees are blooming later than ours here.

    Have a beautiful week, Susie.

We can see a nurse , but why pay her to tell me to see a dr. and then pay him. I hate our our drs. have become scarce in this area. Glad you have a good dr. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  13. Ahhh. Letters. So sweet. I have always enjoyed reading old letters and nobody writes anymore. When I was first married, that was the joy of my day to find letters in the mailbox. Your sister is blessed to have you sit down and write to her. I do send cards to people.

  15. I so want some sunny days again! The weekend was great! I woke up to thunderstorms north this morning- looks like 1-2 inches here today. LOL on milking the birthdays! I still have the stuffy nose off and on, and now I think its gone into my chest. Probably for being on the mower in the wind...
