I Need More Hours....

I need more hours in my day or at least my weekend. My daughter Kathy came home for 3 days. It was her class reunion. Her rose bush bloomed for her , a rose for each day she was here. :):)
Today we spotted this katydid. I did not get a very good photo, for fear it would jump on me, look at it's prickly  feet. Kathy spent time with her sister and best friend while she was home...then today we had some time with her. We ate lunch at Mc Allisters.
Then a quick trip to goodwill. Where Kathy bought a pot to make into a lamp. I bought this little cat..he's so cute but what ever he was to lean on was missing. He's a salt shaker.:):) Cost a dollar.
Saturday, Ted and I went to Lizzy and Matt's house. Here's good old boy Sam. in the garage.
This is Katie, a puppy that Emma was taking care of for family friends. Such a cute puppy and sharp puppy teeth. He chewed on my arm and Liz's toe.
Layla showed up wearing a cute dress with a dog on the front and brought along her own stuffed puppy.
I just love to hug her and listen to her laugh.

Then I got photos of Samson the rooster and his chickens..
They were in Liz's flowers under the bird feeders. Probably eating anything on the ground.
This is the creeping juniper that Ted cut out of a backyard flower bed.  It had some long roots.
The border rocks I dug out and piled up.
Ted tilled the bed and it looks like this today. We have yet to decide what we want to plant.  I am thinking of taking the little beach fencing and putting it by the pond. We got a lot done this past week and weekend. But still could have had more done with more time. It will happen soon enough, I guess.
Hope all of you had a great weekend and good weather. That was a huge plus for me this weekend. Opened the windows for fresh air. Love that.  Here's hoping for a fun week...although Ted and I both have dental appointments for cleanings and x-rays. Wishing you a good week. XO

    1. Karen, Honestly, that little dress of Layla's would make a beautiful dress for a grown woman...if the puppy was a rose, or something like that...it was a sheath dress style. I know the pepper shaker had to be a ball or yarn..I at first thought it was a pot hanger..you know one of those things that hangs onto a flowerpot. LOL Then I saw the holes in top. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Pilar, I had a very bust weekend, but totally love my family time. Any time I can hug or talk with the little ones makes my heart smile. Don't you love hearing them try to explain something to you in their limited vocabulary, although Layla's is pretty good for 2 yr n 5 mos. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kris, I am almost willing to let the garden spot sit for the rest of this year and work on it in Spring. I had family fun and we know that's the best. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  6. Very exciting to have a cleared bed to begin planting! I'm pretty sure we don't get katydids here. I've heard of them, but never knew what they looked like. -Jenn

    1. Jenn, I saw the katydid and asked my daughter (total nature lover)if it was one. We laughed as I almost touched it twice not seeing it. Those jumping things kind of give me the creeps. I am going to think of possibly a dogwood tree in that spot and ground cover...or cone flowers and black eyed Susans. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. I wonder if the cat was meant to lean on a sugar bowl or another cat for the pepper shaker? Looks like it should be part of a set.

    Great photos!

  8. What a busy, fabulous weekend! I love all your gatherings with your sweet family---ours is scattered into SEVEN states, so we just treasure every visit, every picture.

Glad this weather's so wonderful. I woke to sunshine down the stairs this morning---always a clue that it's lovely outside, and we can have all the windows open today while we get some new curtains hung.

Have a wonderful Monday up there!

    1. Rachel, Our Monday here was so good. Ted golfed then came home and grilled out, I did laundry and we did some outside chores. Just perfect. Ted grilled enough meat, that I will only be making slad to go along with it for a few days. I wish you could have more family time...it just makes me feel so good. Especially if the little ones are around. :):)Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  9. So many people are saying they had a nice weekend. Here too it was in low 70s, I'll gladly take that for July/almost August. And I agree more hours would be wonderful, or a 3 day weekend. RH spent the weekend digging out a new bed here too. So nice to have a place for new plants!

  10. Hi Susie, I love hearing about your weekend and seeing your pics-your granddaughter is adorable. Our weather is nice, but we are in the Monsoon season now-with afternoon showers etc. Both hubby and I have to get blood tests this week and I go see my doctor on Friday. I think we will have an early fall-we already have Cicada's chirping in town. I love fall, but not quite ready for it yet.
Hope you have a great week.
    Hugs, Noreen

    1. Noreen, My sister lived in Lakewood for years...I do not remember any rainy season. I hope it's not too much rain, scares me. Those loud cicadas are making the same racket here. LOL. I too love the colors of fall....but oh how I want my summer to last longer and longer, the older I get. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

Thanks for coming by with your sweet comment...at this point, I am totally lost...empty...not knowing which way to turn. When he passed, he took half my heart with him.
I'm still bus and my doctor gave me some little pills that take the edge off things..and helps me to sleep.
    Love to you

    1. Wanda, I wish I had a smidge of that puppies energy. LOL It was like there were two of him ..he was here and there, nipping and into everything. I got a handful of puppy chow and gave him one every time he would sit down. He's smart. Hey, I am longing for no yard work...just family and friend time. I can always work in someone else's yard. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  14. That is a cool picture of the katydid. It's close up and so interesting. It sounds like you had a good visit with Kathy. That little cat salt shaker is so cute, Susie. Whenever I go to the thrift stores, I always look for porcelain figurines, as I love them so, but they are hard to find. How cute Layla looks in her dog shirt holding her stuffed animal. Samson the rooster is a nice looking fellow. It sounds like you and Ted have been working hard in the yard. Everything looks nice, Susie.

    Happy August!

    1. Sheri, I should have looked around more for what ever came with the cat shaker. But he was by himself when I picked him up. Layla's mommy is always styling that girl. I have never seen her in the same thing ever. Sheri, that big rooster, Samson, is a bossy old thing. We are resting this week from the yard..rains are to move in. Blessings, glad it's cooling down there somewhat. Love you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, I got the big rocks from a farmer down the road...I used it to border the back flowerbed. So I dug them out, after so many years they were stuck in the ground. LOL I love to talk with Layla, her vocabulary is so big and her voice so small.:):) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  16. No fun going to the dentist especially for crowns! Your granddaughter is so cute! I'm enjoying my first grandchild who is not quite 1 yet. It's fun to remember how it was with raising a child again. We did some yard/landscape work last weekend too- it was a perfect weekend for it and we have more to do. Looks like you've been busy with yours. I had some junipers like that a while back and they took over- I had no idea they were going to grow so much! We have a pile of shrubs to burn later after they dry out a bit. I did a post on it the one before the Flamingos! Thanks for stopping by- sorry I haven't been by in a while myself!
