Flowers & School....

Kathy's rose bush has bloomed some more. This looks to be perfect.
This rose bush is my daughter's and I keep it here for her. It is blooming in groups of three this summer.
The mums are also blooming. I do not know why  but I always feel it's too soon.
This is one of my favorite colors in mums.
Poor Emma...it looks like she just can't believe it's time to finish getting ready for classes today.  She is in the 8th grade this year.  Actually, she didn't want her picture taken...because she and her best friend had not yet decided what tops to wear today. Oh my, can you even believe it.? She has her pj top in this photo.:):)  I wish all the children a great year, yours and ours.
We had a cool weekend. Some clouds, rain and sun...a bit of it all.  This week the temperatures will climb back up into the 80's.  A week of August has gone already. Wishing all of you a great new week. XO

  1. Lovely flowers...such a pretty color of rose! School doesn't start here until after Labor Day...so the kids still have a little time left!

  2. Oh, dear! Emma has a decision to make quickly! It is the first day of school in our local system, too! Grandson going into 8th grade in another state begins Friday; granddaughter entering 6th grade must go Thursday for "orientation." Busy days ahead! How did summer pass so quickly?

    1. Nellie, It just seems so odd for kids to go to school in August..we back in my day we went after Labor Day. LOL...old timer talk. :):) I hope all our loved ones enjoy their school year. I tell my grand to never be mean. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  3. Your rose is beautiful. My yard is such a mess. It rains and rains and I can't get anything done out there. Mum usually don't bloom here until late September or early October. I love mums. School doesn't start for another month here. September 5th is their first day. But they go until June 21st.

    1. Kathy, Some times it seems impossible to do yard work...either too hot or too wet. Where are all the young people who would like to make a few dollars mowing or pulling weeds?? Hooray for your school..starting late...but then there's 3 weeks of June summertime...mm. I like the way it used to be out on Memorial Day and back after Labor Day. Three whole months of summer. Hope you are doing well. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. Kathy's rose bush is beautiful. I am wonderful, why do you keep it there at your house? I love the color. The mums are so pretty, and the white angel looks so sweet next to the red mums. Your red mums remind me of Fall, Susie. We used to send MUMS to friends in the classroom during football season. It was a fun tradition, and your red mums reminded me of that. I can't believe Emma is going to be in 8th grade this year. I do hope she has a nice and memorable year.

I'm glad you got a little rain. It's way too hot here. Have a wonderful week, Susie.

    1. Sheri, I keep Kathy's rose...because it was a gift from her son to her on a mother's day when they lived in a different house. Then a few years later..Korey went off to college and Kathy got an apartment and brought the rose here. I have to care for it...it means something..you know. Thank you for the sweet wish for Emma. My little granddaughter is growing up so much. You know she is 5'7" tall now. Thank you for always saying nice things about our yard. Ted is so good about mowing and week whacking..I try to help here and there..like hand pulling out of the flower beds. :) Blessings to you, love, xoxo, Susie

  6. Such lovely roses and flowers! It has been a while since that yellow school bus pulled up to our drive and our children hopped on it to school! I still see that school bus however, going past the house on down to pick up other children......with the same bus driver that our children had. Hope your daughter has a wonderful happy school year!

    1. Thank you for the visit..I love this rose that I hold for my daughter. When she moved from one house to an apartment she brought it to me for safe keeping. It was a gift from her son . Emma is our youngest granddaughter. We have three grandkids left in school. Where does the time go? I know what you mean by the school bus...It picks the boy next door up, when he doesn't drive. It makes me feel like crying to think of when he first caught the bus..eleven years ago. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  9. Beautiful flowers! I love mums! I hover over them all spring and water and tend them and then they die every August and I buy more in September! I think I will just pull them up and save myself a lot of trouble next year!
Yes, as the grands get older, they are less anxious for us to take their photos. My quads are still at the stage where they say, "MeeMaw! Take my PICTURE!!!" However, as they will be entering Kindergarten later this month, Amber is increasingly concerned about their privacy so I am limited in what photos I can share anymore.
Your Emma used to be the same age as the quads and I have enjoyed watching her grow up!
Love you, Susie Q!!!! Louis Dean said to tell you HI!

I can't even remember the last time I called a friend to see what they were wearing.

  15. Hi Susie, I have several of my mums flowering and it is way too early for them...which means we will have an early fall(which I'm not ready for). Your granddaughter looks like she isn't ready either.

  16. The flowers are just gorgeous! I love mums, but they're a sign that summer is winding down and that gives me a slight feeling of impending doom as winter, LONG, COLD winter approaches. :-( How can it possibly be time for school to start already?? I do remember the days of trying to decide what to wear to school. :-)

    1. Judy, You and I are thinking alike...not anywhere near ready for summer to end, as it seems fall will surely fly by nd then old man winter will be here...bummer. LOL. I think with our local school starting 2-3 weeks , some a month earlier makes summer seem short. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  17. Love the pictures of the flowers! School starts here for a lot of students during the week of the 22nd. I was a little surprised they didn't delay it since South Carolina is supposed to have a lot of vistors during the solar eclipse which I think it's the 22nd.

    1. Pilar, I am surprised how quickly school started here, some were a whole month early. My daughter goes back to teaching tomorrow. I wish I could watch the eclipse, as I truly love things of this nature. I think you can see the eclipse by looking at the sidwalks...the amount of coverage will show up in the shadow made by leaves of the trees. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  20. Susie, I loved your comment today, and loved hearing about your daughter's school days. I can't believe they all went to the same school as you did, that's so special. Nel and Jess went to the same grade school as me for one year, then we moved to the other side of town. We lived with my mom until our house was built, so my mom loved having us for that year. How delightful that your daughter still has her Donnie Osmond lunch box. Every time I see cute lunch boxes out there, I want to buy one cause I never had one growing up hehehe.

You should do a post about your school memories, Susie. It was a fun post to do.
