On Friday, My daughter Angie's 5th graders celebrated Veteran's Day. This is the 21 st year Angie has held this for local vets. I am amazed it's been that long. The children sang patriotic songs and put on a skit for the vets. They have for the past three years been raising money to send veterans to Washington D.C. , so they can visit the memorials in their honor. This project is called Honor Flights. Two of our local vets came to the celebration on Friday and thanked the kids for helping them to go on the trip to D.C. Angie also thanked her class and said , "even young people can do good things for others." Ted and I were at the heart clinic and did not get to attend the program.
Saturday looked like this...clear , but cold. It was a beautiful sky.
Also a wonderful sunset. Just a bit of purple in the sky color.
Do any of you remember my granddaughter Emma....the one I called Emma Pooh? Look at this little beauty, all dolled up for a school dance . This is her "date" for the dance...as she is only 14 1/2 years old...too young to really date. My daughter drove them to the dance and picked them up...both too young to drive. Thank goodness. No wonder she doesn't come over and do crafts with old nana any more. LOL I could cry but won't let myself for fear I would never be able to stop.
Just a couple more days till Ted gets his heart cath. I seem to be holding my breath. I am getting a cold now and pray he doesn't catch it. He will not be getting the cath if he does. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers...you certainly are special. XO
Emma is a beautiful young lady now...how time flies! And I know you are proud of your daughter and all of your family. It's funny how those tears come...from joy many times too! We're all keeping good thoughts for you and hubby this week! Hugs, DianeReplyDelete
Thank you so much Diane. I think you understand how I feel about my youngest granddaughter growing so quickly now. I surely miss my Emma. Yesterday two of my daughter were here and it felt so good to have them here , I told them I was never letting them leave again. LOL. But after a nice visit and we got Kathy's laundry finished they returned to their own homes. I miss those old days of fun with them all. Hope all is well . I will let you know more about Ted when I find out. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
The Veteran's program is a wonderful tribute to our heroes. Emma is beautiful. Our little girls seem to grow up fast. My 9 year old granddaughter still likes to visit occasionally but the others have outgrown 'nana' :( I have been through a heart cath for my son. I will keep you both in prayer.ReplyDelete
Thank you dear Karen. I truly appreciate you. Oh yes, oh babies do not want to stay babies any more. So sad. Bless you, xoxo, SusieDelete
That is an awkward age for kids to start dating because nobody can drive. That's why a lot of these girls try to date creepy college guys.ReplyDelete
Ewweee….no way that is going to happen...her parents really check things. I am thankful for that. Hey if kids can go to dances, or come over for pizza once in awhile...that's good enough. LOL They don't get alone time. I think all kids need jobs too. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Prayers for Ted, Susie.ReplyDelete
I know what you mean about the grands growing up way too fast. Boo! They ARE so lovely, though. Maybe Emma Pooh will decide crafts are fun again. We did, right?
Oh yes. My daughter is going to Seattle over the Thanksgiving holiday and she is going to visit an arts and crafts museum. LOL. I know one day Emma will reclall some of the crafts we have made....maybe when she is old and married. I hope she has fond memories of me when that happens. Blessings to you n thanks for the prayers. xoxo, SusieDelete
Your granddaughter is gorgeous, Susie! Hope you feel better soon, and praying for your hubby!ReplyDelete
Thank you sweetheart. I am grateful for all prayers. Oh my sweet Pooh is growing up. We sure had lots of craft times together. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Stay away from Ted as much as possible! That is just the sweetest thing the kids are doing for the vets. My friend got to attend the honor flight with her dad who is a WWII vet. They thoroughly enjoyed it. Your granddaughter certainly did grow up into a beauty and I understand your feelings. Our Kate is only 10, but I can see that ahead for her and so it's a little scary. It is freezing cold and windy here, plus damp. Take good care of your hubby. Saying a prayer for him and you. XoxoReplyDelete
Nonnie, I am not getting close to Ted for fear he will get my cold. I have washed my hand and wiped things down...unending. Because our Emma seems to have grown up in so many ways..it made me enjoy seeing your little granddaughter all the more. When Emma was ten she still liked coming over a little and doing crafts. I do miss those fun days. It's cold here also. The temps are about 20 degrees cooler than normal for this time. Blessings, stay warm, xoxo, SusieDelete
Emma is just lovely. Also tell Ted I had a heart cath, and I was so scared, but everything turned out and it wasn't as bad as the worry beforehand. Thinking of you both.ReplyDelete
Thank you so muc Peggy. Worry is a heavy load, isn't it? That's why we should let God help us. Some times I think I can do it all. Blessings to you, xoxo, SusieDelete
That can't be Emma!!!!
I've been praying for Ted and you. I will check any post I may have missed to see if I missed some news.
Linda, Seeing Emma's picture was a bit of a shock for Ted and I too. Thank you for al the good prayers. Ted gets that cath this week...in the mean time, he has no energy . I am trying to sit on him and certainly not let him strain at anything. It's hard to see him like this. I have a cold and you know the one that's sick still has to cook and do things...so I keep washing my hands. I have hand sanitizers out also. Blessings to you and yours, love you, xoxo,. SusieDelete
Your grand daughter is a beauty and a handsome date too! I keep you and your husband in my prayers, I had the same situation happen while waiting for my husbands heart procedure, I came down with a cold a worried myself sick that he would get the cold and then they couldn’t do the test, he didn’t catch it, I worried for nothing, I’m sure he will be fine,ReplyDelete
Oh Laurie, You do know what I am going thru....the worry for Ted to get this procedure and come out well ...then I feel like a may be able to rest. :) My grandgirl seems to have just grow up in a very shirt time...but I guess after 13 that happens. Hope she is not into a big hurry . Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, SusieDelete
What a wonderful program for the Veterans! I know you are proud! AND your granddaughter Emma is GORGEOUS! Praying for Ted and YOU! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!ReplyDelete
Thank you Theresa. Oh I am proud that all the children really put their hearts into the celebration of the vets and raising money for the trips. Oh my Emma, I think her being our youngest grand, I am just not ready for her to be growing up. Thank you for those wonderful prayers. :) Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Hi Susie, tell your daughter thank you for me . . . she is doing a wonderful thing. Not just for the veteran's but also building a love of country in the children in her classes. We had a friend (he has passed)but he went on this trip and afterwards he was so proud to tell his story and show us a book of photos from his trip. It was wonderful hearing his excitement.ReplyDelete
Grandchildren do grow up. We had our two preteens for two weeks this summer and it was so special, it won't be long before going to grandpa's and grandma's might be boring . . . I hope not.
You and your husband are in my prayers.
God bless you both.
Connie, You are so right...those vets that take that trip are amazed and full of gratitude. I love that Angie is doing this.Delete
Hang on to your young grandgirls...they are growing so quickly. Our Emma is our youngest and I was caught off guard. Thanks for the prayers, so welcomed. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Angie sounds like a real gem. And the good thoughts will keep coming -- please let us know how the surgery goes.ReplyDelete
Thank you so much Jeanie. All prayers are welcomed here and mean so much to us. I am proud of Angie . She loves those vets and related some stories to me. Some of them cry when they tell their stories. The children just love them. :):) Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Sounds like a wonderful program and your daughter is such a great teacher and mentor to all those kids. Emma has grown up before our eyes. Time surely flies. Still praying for you all. hugs. xoReplyDelete
Thank you my sweet friend. Susie, we all have to keep praying for each other...there's always some things that only God can help us with. Health is surely one of them. I am so grateful for everyone 's kind prayers and wishes.Delete
Oh dear our youngest granddaughter is growing up. It makes me sad...that the over night stays and crafting days have past. I miss her ...I get to see her at her house but it's not the same. She always loves on us and tells she loves us. I miss the wonderful times we used to have.
Hope you are doing well. Hope you are not freezing there. We are about 20 degrees below normal. Blessings to you, Love you, xoxo, Susie
Susie, what a sweet thing for your daughter and her students to do. It really warms my heart. Yes, your beautiful little granddaughter is really growing up. It all happens so fast. I missed your last post and just now read it. I'm so glad that your hubby is doing well on his meds. My SIL had a stent put in about 15 years ago. He was young when that happened. He actually had a slight heart attack but has been really good all these years. Hope it continues. His heart problems came almost exactly one year after Tami was diagnosed with breast cancer. They are both fine now and know that your hubby will be too..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudyReplyDelete
Judy, I will say a prayer for your daughter and SIL...that's a big load to bear for young people. Well honestly for anyone. By ted getting the clot busters as soon as he was hooked up at the E.R. he did not have a heart attack. He was 48. I am praying they can maybe find out why he is so winded and losing his energy. The chest x-ray did not show any lung issues. Blessings to you dear friend, xoxo, SusieDelete
She's a very lovely young lady!ReplyDelete
I hope all works out for Ted. It must be very stressful.
As my upstairs neighbor Joe said, "It'sa getta windy!"
Boston Boy, I like the way your neighbor talks. So fun. Thank you for the good wishes for Ted. I will let everyone know as soon as I learn anything. Yes, it is scary. Bless you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Emma has grown up into a beautiful young woman! Many prayers for Ted's good health and recovery. Hugs!ReplyDelete
Thank you so much Carol. I am so thankful for prayers and good wishes...it helps me relax a wee bit. Blessings to you, stay warm xoxo, SusieDelete
Your granddaughter is beautiful Susie. They grow up too fast. My oldest grandgirl will be 15 in April. WOW...where has the time gone. Oh I love that they done a program in honor of our Vets. My 7 year old grandgirl participated in their school program this year too and it was darling. Hugs and blessings, CindyReplyDelete
Cindy, Thank you. I like that children feel proud to help our vets. Emma will be 15 in April too...she's our youngest g.daughter. Blessings, xoxo, SusieDelete
Susie...I am indeed offering up prayer for your husband...hope everything is well....what a lovely granddaughter you have and yes, they grow up so fast don't they? I so wish you didn't have to go through health issues right now....hugs and blessings for cold, cold Texas!ReplyDelete
Thank you for all the prayers Betsy. We are grateful for all. I just want to know what is happening with Ted. Need to get him on the road to good health. Blessings, stay warm, xoxo, SusieDelete
Hi there Susie, I stopped by to see how your hubby is doing and if there is any news? Your granddaughter is so so so pretty and don't the kids look so nice all fancied up in their formal outfits??ReplyDelete
Hi Debbi, I will know more tomorrow. In the mean time Ted is just sitting around...which makes him crazy. He loves to be working in the shop on any , rather than sit. Oh our little Emma is growing up. When I see your granddaughter with her dolls...it takes me back. I miss those days. Bless you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Such a concern re. Ted and catching a cold! Prayers for you and him, Susie. And that granddaughter. Why do they grow up so fast. Sometimes we just wish we could stop that old clock! Blessings on you, friend. xo What a wonderful thing your daughter's class is doing. Too bad you couldn't be there for it.ReplyDelete
Thank you Judy for all your kindness. We love getting prayers...they are powerful. I truly have washed my hands like some with OCD. I hope it's been enough. Ted seems fine. I will know more tomorrow. Yes our babies grow too quickly. Hug on your little ones every chance you get. :) Blessings , xoxo, SusieDelete
Your daughter is so wonderful to have her kids do all of this for veterans. I know they must really love the program. I am keeping good thoughts and prayers for Ted. Hope all goes well.ReplyDelete
Kris, Thank you so much for the prayers...you now I believe in their power. Angie was so happy to hear two of her veterans thank the youngsters for all they do. She said those kids smile all day long after the program. Ice is coming. Today we are covered and snow is to come on top. you know what lovely driving that makes. YIKES. Bless you, xoxo, SusieDelete
Hope all goes well with the heart cath. Your granddaughter is adorable. What a great program for our vets. They so deserve to be remembered. 3 inches of snow here in Michigan. Thanks for leaving a sweet comment on my blog. JaniceReplyDelete
