Catching some sunsets lately, trying to hold onto each day as long as I can.
I have to show the flowering pots in our town. They make them every year with wave petunias and other annuals. They are watered as needed thru the week. Every business has one or two out front. They are all over town.
Oh yes, school started this week. I miss the bus picking the boy next door up...but he is into his 3rd year of college now. Wow, those years went way too quickly.
This has been a good week and I know in my heart I have all of you to thank for it. So thank you dear friends, from the bottom of our hearts. We are so very grateful for all of you.
Friday was Ted's official 100th day. A great day in bone marrow transplants.Ted got his maintenance chemo every day this week. Granddaughter, Sierra, drove him there everyday but yesterday. Such a sweetheart to help us like she does. Ted drove himself yesterday, we went the back roads....no interstate speed drive for us. Ted received his labs, chemo I.V. , then the Hickman port was removed. Ted's counts are good. The doctor ( Dr. Luke Akard), said Ted can eat what he wants, go where he wants and do as much as he possibly can. No golfing for a week and no swimming. No mowing, or being in any place that could be dirty , like basements and attics. Not to be outdoors if there's construction, for fear of dust and dirt.....which can hold molds and harmful things. We go back in two weeks for a follow up and blood work. Ted may be able to get his next maintenance chemo in Noblesville a town that is so much closer and no interstate driving involved. That's a big plus for me, as I get to anxious in heavy traffic. :)
Bless all of you. I will always remember the prayers , well wishes, and kind words . Love you so much. XO
Well now Susie, getting the green light to do regular normal things and eat what he wants all sounds pretty positive to me! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteJenn, It was as if a huge weight had been lifted off of our shoulders. We still have to use common sense and take care..you know not go around sick kids or people if we can help it. Not sit outside while dust is being stirred. But oh the hopes it has given us. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat's great news! Always sending prayers and hugs Susie!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pilar. It's been so good to have all my blog family at our side thru this. The dr. just made Ted and I happy with all that good news. Bless your sweet heart, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYou're welcome Susie! I'm really happy for you and Ted! I've been taking time off my blog (there's a post about it), but I'll be back soon! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteThat's such a good report! I'll keep praying and I hope he can stay away from dirt and hard work. It's going to take some doing to get him to take it easy I know! Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteDiane, I told him today..we are eating at the dining table from now on...I am not carrying a tray to you every meal. You can eat like a big kid now. LoL. He is on less meds also, so I do not have to have trays of meds on the table. Thank goodness. I am grateful for all your prayers helping us thru. Blessings to you and Ron, Love you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI know honey, I can barely stop smiling. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDelete"Friday was Ted's official 100th day. A great day in bone marrow transplants."
ReplyDeleteCongrats!!!
Thank you Sandi. It was a great day. We are still feeling so happy. We are relaxing and sleeping in this weekend. Been getting up at 5 every morning . So we slept till 7 today. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteDear Susie, I am so thankful for answered prayers for Ted. I know you are so relieved that he can (within reason) eat what he wants and go where he wants. Glad his meds have been reduced, also. I do pray you can go to the closer location in the future. Praying for both of you as you continue in this journey. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Laurel. I am truly grateful for all who have helped us with their kind hearts. Ted's medicines have come down a bunch. He was once taking more pills at breakfast than he is all day now. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWearing a great big grin here. It might almost match the grins you two are wearing. Such a happy post with great news. Just reading that the port was removed made me cheer!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Vee. I am so thankful. Ted and I are still smiling. He got up this morning at 7 instead of 5...said he did not wake from lying on the port"tails". LOL. You are in my prayers Vee. I pray God sends you his love and mercy of healing powers. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteGiving thanks with you and your family, for the great report, May the Lord continue to complete His healing, and for renewed strength, as you both take this journey.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sue
Thank you Sue, we do appreciate all of your prayers and good wishes. It has been tough at a lot of times. Once that 100 day mark seemed so very far away, almost impossible. Now it's here. We are so very grateful for God good healing love. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSuch wonderful news! Continuing in prayer for both of you. Now you will really enjoy the sunsets and beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteKathy, I cleared the dining table off and we ate there for lunch. Less meds means less worry of mixing the wrong ones and such. :) He is excited about going golfing in a week or so. I hope he has the energy for it. We have been happy since we got home yesterday. Everyone's prayers have been so helpful for us. I am truly grateful Kathy. Blessings to you and Joe, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIts so nice when towns spruce up their sidewalks and businesses. It makes for a really nice appearance and curb appeal. Ours has hanging flower baskets on the street lamps with an automatic watering system. It's so nice to drive downtown and see all the pretty flowers, just like your town. Glad to hear about your hubby!!! Excellent news indeed! Man I can't believe school is rolling around. Our district starts at the end of August and this will be my second year of not going back! How I love retirement. I think of all my school friends heading back to the classroom soon.
ReplyDeleteTake care and have a great weekend!
Saimi
Saimi, I like those hanging baskets too. There's a town north of us that has those. My daughter teaches 5th grade and says she feels so cheated of summer. Most people do think of the extra hours teachers have to put in to get ready for classes. Thank you for teaching.
DeleteOh yes Ted and I are thrilled with his good report . There's still plenty to watch for and care about. But we are headed in the right direction. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
Thank you, Lord!!! Such good news! We love you both and pray faithfully.....in sickness and in health!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. It's all those wonderful prayers from all of you that helped Ted and I so much. We are sure happy about his good report at the clinic.Thank you for being our good friends. Blessings, xoxo, love you and LD Susie
DeletePraise the Lord for answered prayers.
ReplyDeleteThe rose is pretty and like it blooming one at a time is just like we should live, one day at a time, trusting God to carry us through.
Have a great Sunday, Susie.
Thank you Sylvia. We so appreciate all the thoughtful kind words and prayers fro all of you. You and your husband are in my prayers also. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHis counts are good, he can eat what he wants,he can drive....what wonderful, wonderful news!!!All those big prayers for your TEDDY BEAR! I am so glad he is better. God bless you both. Those flowers, so lovely. xxx

ReplyDeleteThank you Dewena, I know that you kept Ted's name on your cabinet to pray when you saw it. Thank you sweet lady. We know those prayers have great power to help us. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat's a whole long list of instructions, but he's in good hands with you, Susie. Love the rose, but even better that Ted is doing well and got that thing out. Today is all any of us have and we need to be grateful for each and every one. I know you are!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie. I am so grateful for all the kind thoughtful prayers people sent up for us both. I need strength to help Ted, so I know the prayers were powerful and got us thru to moment in time. It did seem so far away back in April when Ted went into the hospital for the prep for the transplant. Thank you for your prayers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSo happy for Ted's great report. I'm going to keep praying and sending you and Ted hugs and good wishes!
ReplyDeleteCarol, Thank you so much. Yours prayers along with everyone's has given us great help. So much power in prayer. Blessings to you, xoox, Susie
DeleteThis is such a cheerful post. I'm happy for you both. Kathy's rose is beautiful, and so are is the big pot of flowers. Our little town would look good with flowers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Henny. Ted and I have been smiling all weekend. That one rose along with a new bud has been nodding to me each time I walk the path to the shop. :) I think the family that does the planters for our town will also make one for us if we pay the 75-100 fee. I actually have a big pot here that I could put the same flowers in. But this year I have just gone with fake one in my containers. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSuch awesome news Susie! Prayer availing and as you know...there is mighty power in praying. Just so thankful that we can pray. What a gift. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindy for your prayers. I knew you were praying for your firefighters too. What you said about that being the best thing we can do ...is so right. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, there is power in prayer. I believe that with all that is in me. Hugs to you.
DeleteSusie, first day of school already! Oh, those kids sure don't have much of a summer break, do they? I think Jess starts the school year teaching soon, but not quite yet. Kathy's rose is so pretty, and I've always loved that color. Susie, I'm so glad that Ted is doing better. I keep him and you in my prayers when I say the Rosary. And he can eat what he wants now - I bet that is a relief for him. I hope he is able to have his treatments in a town much closer. I do not like the freeways any more, and get nervous as well, so I understand what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of the school bus. Seeing it always makes me smile, cause it's a start of a new school year. That's so good of Sierra to be so involve and help out like she does.
love, ~Sheri
ps.....I had a wonderful trip seeing the grandbabies. It was funny watching them play together, as they are only a year apart. : )
Sheri, I am glad the girls are going to be close. My greats are as close as siblings. Well Max and Luke are . LOL. But Layla is like a sister to them.
DeleteWe are so grateful for your sweet prayers and kind words my dear friend. Blessings to you, love you, xoxo, Susie
I have tears reading this, Susie. You and your hubby are a brave and resilient twosome!! It was a pleasure to say prayers on your behalf. Sending love and hugs your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Doris. Ted and I are so grateful for everyone's prayers for us. It has helped to get here. Things are looking good so far. There are many things that can happen, so we have to stay alert to any changes in Ted health. I know that God is with us. Blessings to you and your family. xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteOh this is such a happy post, Susie! I hope you both can relax and enjoy life! Keeping you both in my prayers! Such good news!
ReplyDeleteLinda, Thank you honey. Ted and I have felt a bit lighter since Friday. Less heavy burden, I guess. :):) Your prayers mean so much to both of us. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi sweet friend, I am so sorry that I didn't know what was going on in your life. We all have our own trials. Prayers for you and your family. I love the towns that do pretty pots. It really does brighten ones day when you see them! Have a good week. Hoping to be back visiting again!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you Jan. Sometimes our lives get so full of running here and there to see drs...it's hard to stay in touch. You have been in my prayers. In my heart always. Stay the strong lady you are. Blessings to you and your family. xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteSounds like lots of well deserved goodness in your world -- especially for Ted. Three cheers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie. We have been feeling more relaxed since Friday's doctor visit at the clinic. Ted has fouht hard to reach this point and everyone's good words, prayers and well wishes have truly held us both up. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, before anything else I need to say how happy I am that things are going so well for you guys now. It seems like such a short time to me that Ted is on the home stretch, but I know it doesn't seem that way for you. Thanks for your visit. You are always so sweet. Maybe I have a little talent, but if it doesn't come out of a book, it is non-existent! Thanks for your encouragement though. I always appreciate hearing from you. .Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. I know when some says 100 days, we can think , that's less than a 1/3 of a year...but when it's in medical days...it seems so much longer. Sure did to me.
DeleteI was told once that if you could read instructions and make some thing of them you did indeed have talent. There's people who can read instruction but not have a clue as to how to follow them. LOL. The older I get the more I am like that. LOL Ooo especially with tech things. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Thanks for your visit, Susie. I love that little Santa and am looking for some more patterns..Thanks for stopping by and all my good wishes to you still..xxoJudy
DeleteWell this is all good news! So glad the bone marrow transplant has gone well and that he’s reached this milestone! Having gone through cancer treatments with our daughter at age 4 I know how being the caregiver can be tiring. I never thought about airborne dust having mold elements and such. Makes sense though. 🤗
ReplyDeleteLiz, I can not even imagine having young child go thru cancer. Altough with Ted so sick at times and having to be his nurse, banker, cook, etc,etc...It was like having a 67 year old baby.:) Thank God Ted is doing well. It's still stressful at times...but not so much everyday. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteThis is the best news. Ted is doing so great. You guys have been on a long journey and you are so close to having your lives back. I am continuing to say prayers for you and Ted. This is a great post to read this evening. Big Hugs,
Kris
Thank you so much Kris, for your prayers and kind words. It most certainly has helped Ted and I . Everyone's kindness has given us strength thru this battle. Ted has amazed the drs. by not getting fevers or diarrhea. I pray he continues to be this strong. Blessings to you, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteOh Susie....such great news!! I've been painting for the past few days, so I am reading this good news a few days late..no matter, it's still wonderful to hear!!! will Praise God for answered prayer, and keep praying for those good reports. Bless you both my sweet friend. xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbie. I am so grateful for the prayers. It has be a great relief for Ted and I. To have quiet time at home and not have to worry about appts for two was so nice.
DeleteI stain the deck/porch floor and all the rails...so that took three days in the heat...once it would get so hot, I would quit for the day. There's always work . Blessings to you. xoxo, Love you so much, Susie
Hi Susie! I'm so proud to hear the good news about your husband! Prayers for continued good reports. I know this has to ease your heart too. Our God is so good! Your rose is beautiful. Thank you always for popping in to see me and supporting me.

Deletesusie, some rose fertilizer might help that rose bush to produce more roses, it is a beautiful color!! our town scatters potted plants around town also, each business owner takes care of theirs and they are so pretty all summer. school does not start in new jersey until after labor day, it has always been that way here since i was little!! awesome news about ted!!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I have not used fertilizer this year. I usually do, but can't seem to get myself together. Maybe today after I get back from the dentist. Ted actually is going to try to golf this morning. :) I told not to be disappointed if he can't finish the round...after all it's been over a year. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteFlowers are beautiful! Glad things are going pretty well for Ted, will keep hi in my prayers.
