Some pretty skies. Tons of leaf raking here. Now we need to get them to the back of the woods. Our leaf pile looks like a hedge at the back fence.
Our little Japanese maple is finished for the season. It's red leaves turn a different shade and then curl up. I am missing the flowers and birds around here.
A decade ago, Ted and I went to L.A. and the Hollywood area, with our travel club. We did get to see Alex Trebek host two shows. They tape them . During break Alex will speak with the audience. I got to ask him if he remembered his first ever winner. He said, "not the first winner, but I do recall the my first ever champion." Ted and I watch Jeopardy every evening. Alex did tape enough shows ahead that we can watch him till Christmas. We miss miss Alex.
We are staying in . Going nowhere but to drs. appts. The weather has been really cold the last few days. Winds yesterday were very fierce. Windy again today but not as high. The yard doesn't need raked today, the leaves are in the next county.
Hope all of you are well and planning on staying that way. Please use caution at Thanksgiving. We are going to stay home this holiday season. Be safe friends. XO
Love the pictures. How sweet to attend the tapings, memories that is for sure. You and Ted stay safe, it is always good to visit at your home.

Thank you . I have loved watching the tree turn. The winds of the past few days have raked way better than I can. LOL
DeleteYes, our trip to Ca. was a fun time. Saw things I only had heard of all my live. I cry when I see some things. Remember my universe used to be the corner of Cleveland and Mill streets. LOL Stay healthy there. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
We had lots of wind here too but sadly I still have leaves to clean up an d a few sticks and branches from the tree too. It is cold and wet here and am waiting for the sun to dry it out now before I get to work on it all.
ReplyDeleteI just carried all the branches to the burn pile. Not burning...waiting for snow on the ground to do that. We have sun and it's cold enough...but thankfully not bitter cold. I love when the sun shines...it helps my mood. Blessings, xoxo, Susie.
DeleteHow neat to have that memory of Alex T.! Hope you both have a good week and stay warm and safe!
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here Diane. LOL But today the sun is shining and I am loving that. Just picked up a pile of sticks from all the winds. Blessings, stay safe there. xoxo, Love you, Susie
DeleteLeaves...there is no end to them :)
ReplyDeleteAlex Trebek was highly though of as an entertainer and a gentleman, he shall be missed. Our Thanksgiving will just be the two of us, we're trying to social distance as much as possible, but it's difficult times.
Stay well dear Susie, and stay warm.
Hugs,
~Jo
Thank you Jo. Ted and I shall be alone too. We just can not take any chances. I really liked Alex, he was a gentleman and so well liked. We saw Pat and Vanna, and Jay Leno too. It was an enjoyable time for a couple from the midwest. LOL. Blessings, stay safe there, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie,
ReplyDeleteWasn't he absolutely the BEST host ever on TV?? We saw him once here at a charity hockey game at the Fairgrounds, skating against the ICE, along with McGyver and one of the Ninja turtles. I love your photos and descriptions of the lingering Fall, and I'm thinking so happily for you that you got to see this one with your wonderful new EYES!!
Thank you Rachel. It has been so great to see clearly again. So worth the two days of surgery. It's been 3 weeks now and I will be done with one eye drop and continue with the other for two more weeks. I have always loved watching Alex. I have cried a few days since he passed away. It's like someone in the family, really. We saw Pat, Vanna and Jay Leno while we were in Hollywood. Went to their shows too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt seems the wind did you a favor this year..leaves to the next county..HaHa...We are going to have a quiet Thanksgiving too. Just the 6 of us..It will seem strange but such is life this year.
ReplyDeleteStay well.
Sue
Yes, I think many families will just have a few. Better safe though. My granddaughter just text to see if we were coming to her parents for dinner. I said not this year. When this covid is in control or gone, then we can have a big dinner, to celebrate. She said she would fix something delicious for papaw and I could all the babies. LOL. Isn't that sweet. Blessings to you and yours, keep safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteBeautiful pictures! I had to laugh about the leaves being in the next county! It was to be windy here yesterday but it never really was. That's just fine with me. Glad you are staying safe and well. No big get togethers here either for the holidays. If we have a nice afternoon one of these weekends we will sit outside and visit just as we've been doing since March.
ReplyDeleteDoris, I like that you do the outside visiting. That would be so nice . I think our really good days for being outside long, are past. I think your family situation lets you enjoy adults and children. That's one thing I miss most, being with the kids. I love to hear them laugh. Blessings to all of you. Keep safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Alex Trebek - a beautiful soul, inside and out. He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteYes Debby, Alex was a wonderful gentleman. He was like family here, my daughters even said so. He has been in our homes for many years. I know I will honestly miss him. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYour photos are beautiful! We are staying in, too. How are you getting your groceries? Order them then using pickup? We haven't tried that yet.
ReplyDeleteGinny, I go to the grocery, at the early hours, before it's crowded. I wipe everything down before putting it away. We clean our cars too. I even wipe the mailbox, inside and out. We do not have easy order and pick up. Our town is too small. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a beautiful area you live in Susie....we also stay home except for a weekend trip to the grocery....we have lovely fall weather here which is a blessing. Thank you for sharing your corner of the country!
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy, I do love my hometown. I am always praying those in office don't trade off our wholesome way of life for money or names in history. LOL I go to the grocery in the early hours before it gets crowded. Wipe everything down once I get it here. Clean the cars too. I fear I have gone off the deep end . Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteEnjoyed seeing the fall leaves in your pictures! I miss seeing the leaves change colors, but, don't miss the cold! Stay warm and safe! I have one more medical appointment and then, I am planning to stay home at least until next year!
ReplyDeleteOh Honey, I know what you mean about staying in...these days life is scary. I will you the best at your medical appointment. I have truly enjoyed the turning of the leaves...they are gone now, but with my cataracts taken care of , I see the colors so clearly. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteFall always passes much too quickly. I was sorry to hear about Alex. Used to watch Jeopardy all the time when we had television.
ReplyDeleteJeopardy will not be the same without Alex. Such a refined man. I wish fall was long than all the other seasons. It's a pretty one for sure. Blessings, be safe, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWe also had that wind on Sunday and some rain, the trees are bare now but leaves are everywhere. We have to bag ours and the city picks them up. Staying home is a good idea I think. Take care everyone.
ReplyDeleteHi Peggy, I sure have missed you. Hope you are well and enjoying some fun times. I know we are all staying in but we have some hobbies, that is good. I kind of wished I had not rake at all and just let those high winds take our leaves away. but it may never have blown that hard if all the leaves were on the ground. LOL Stay safe, Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThanks for catching us up with you! You stay safe and healthy too!! xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Terri, We are sure trying to be healthy and it's an all day job every day. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a beautiful first photo of a golden tree and its designs piled up under it ..., i was amazed that it never existed in my country.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your activities at home, friend. Greetings from Indonesia.
Thank you. Hope you are well and safe. It's getting cold here, winter is so near. I will miss the nice days outdoors. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I love that first picture of the golden tree on Main Street in your town. Your Japanese maple is beautiful, and it really looks like Fall. That sounds fun that you went to Calif. years ago to see the Jeopardy Show. And I'm glad you and Ted can watch the shows at Christmastime.
ReplyDeleteStay safe with those winds, Susie. We had a dust storm last month with 80 mph winds. It was really strange. Street lights out while driving and tree branches in the middle of the roads. But I made it home safely from Nel's. : )
~Sheri
Sheri, That wind storm sounds so scary. I can not believe the winds. We need to take care of this earth. Sheri, I have enjoyed the autumn colors so much since my cataracts are gone. I just want to see everything. When I called and told my daughter Liz that I had talked with Alex, she said ...what did he say, "stop calling out the answers Susie." cause that is what I do at home. LOL. Blessings to you and your family, please keep safe. xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteI have been praying for you both. The virus is raising its brutal head in our area. Our son Sam's girlfriend Catie got it. She is young and it was like a bad cold for her. She said the worse of it for her is the fatigue. She said it drains your energy for days and days.
ReplyDeleteLove to you!
Carla, I pray for our young people , schoolkids and grands..I pray the virus will be beat by a vaccine and soon. I thank you for the prayers. Please keep safe. Blessings to all, xoxo, love Susie
DeleteHi Susie - Lovely Autumn Photos. The windy days sure help to move leaves- rather than rain which stops the leaves from moving. All the very best to you and TED. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kev. I hope you are well and enjoying some things in life. It's rough when we can not be with our loved ones and friends. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Deleteyour skies are lovely susie, ours have been very pretty too!!
ReplyDeleteit must have been fun to see jeopardy and to meet alex t., something you will probably always remember!! i wonder how many "questions" you know when you watch the show??
our fall has fallen too, it is always too quick for me. we had frost last night!!
Debbie, My daughter Liz, asked me if Alex told me to stop calling out the answers...cause I do that at home. LOL I absolutey love watching that show, but it will not be the same without Alex. Glad you are having pretty skies too. At least it is something to enjoy . Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteBeautiful skies. Thinking good thoughts your way. Just Rick and me for TG too. Ah well. It will give me time to sneak in a little decorating! I will miss Alex, too. I was surprised at how deeply sad I felt -- he fought a very good fight and I thought he'd live forever, despite the odds, which he already surpassed. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie. I have cried a few times since Alex passed. I loved that man. He will be missed. You know people we see in our homes thru TV are like family, we are so used to them. It has been great to see all the pretty colors of the sunsets, the falling leaves. I can see so much now. Blessings to you and Rick, enjoy your TG . We will be alone also. xoxo Susie
DeleteI'm glad that you put your leaves in the woods. They provide cover for small animals and a place for insects to breed for the next year. So important for our eco system. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteI do not like burning leaves. Hate that smell. It's pollution too. Better to let nature take care of them. Blessings to you, stay well and safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a loss Alex/Jeopardy is...I can't imagine they will ever replace him.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Fall is winding down where you are Susie. I will miss visiting Mindy in IN..and miss seeing you at Hortons!
I hope that you and Ted stay safe. We are pretty well isolated here, too. John has another Dr. appt tomorrow. I am not holding out much hope for any news but will go and state the facts AGAIN!
Have a blessed Thanksgiving, Susie. Love you- Diana
Diana, I hope that you get to visit with your daughter Mindy in the next year. Our grands are growing up and we are missing out. I haven't been to Horton's for a really long time. Last summer. My daughter said she went in last month and the Horton's asked about me. Well that makes me feel good. I miss going there. Diana, I am praying for you and John. If the dr or medical people could pin point what's wrong with John, then you could possibly get started on some kind of treatment . Praying for some results. I told Ted , even if we eat a bologna sandwich here , the two of us, we will be safe to enjoy the next round of holidays. God help us all. Blessings to you and your sweet family. Take care, stay safe. xoxo, love you dear friend, Susie
DeleteBeautiful Fall colorful leaves came here finally and are now dropping from the trees. It keeps my husband busy blowing leaves. We are staying in mostly and will have Thanksgiving lunch at my daughter’s house. She has a big house and lots of areas to social distance. Not very many people will be there and I know we will enjoy it. Have a blessed day dear friend. Big hugs coming your way.
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa. I hope you get to enjoy your TG lunch at your daughter's. I sure miss my family members...but just can risk going anywhere. It will be good, to just stay safe. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
