Two rounds of chemo that could have killed Ted for the first two months. Almost lost him due to an infection in the picc line. Then again due to Cdif during his second round of chemo. Then In May , 2019, Ted had a bone marrow transplant. This has truly saved his life. He doesn't have to have maintenance chemo any longer. Goes to see the Doctors at the Indiana Blood and Marrow transplant clinic/Franciscan Cancer Center. He will see them again in Feb. 2021.
I pray that none of you have to go through such a time...I know many have, more than once even. My heart goes out to you. We are blessed and we know it. We had great drs, nurses and hospital staff. Our supportive family and friends. I thank each and every person who did whatever they could for us. My cup runneth over.
These are the best type of anniversaries, Susie; looking back and realizing we have made it through those times. Every year, I remember when I was first diagnosed, when I had my surgery, when I started my treatment rounds. But, the biggest blessing is knowing I survived and, I am sure, that for you and Ted, the fact that you both made it through is the biggest blessing, too. Much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYes, we are honey. Even in this terrible time of Covid, I can count our blessings. It's taking much time for Ted to regain his strength, but we are working on it. I am thankful for you to be a survivor. It means you are a fighter too. Blessings to you. Keep safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteI am so glad you did this post and I pray for you both all the time. I know it's been a difficult 2 years but you've made it through the worst of it now...I hope and pray. Take care and give each other a big hug for all of us! We love you both!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Diane. People like you and Ron , your sweet prayers gave us much hope . I started a journal of Ted fight, a small notebook and I am into the 4th one now. This last journal is his vitals everyday. Then I may add some lines of how well he does, or any dr visit. The first page of the first journal says we all cried after hearing the diagnoses. We can smile today and that is a true blessing. Wishing you and Ron blessings too. Stay safe, xoxo, love you both, Susie
DeleteGiving thanks that Ted has come through this! Take care, Susie! Sending love and big hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Nellie..we are feeling the love of our heavenly Father. The power of all those prayers. Blessings to you and yours, Stay safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteThankful right along with you for all treatments that have worked to get his health back! You two have really faced a lot. I'll continue to pray for health and for this Covid virus to be gone...won't that be a time of rejoicing?!!
ReplyDeleteDoris, I think there may be dancing in the streets when we can be rid of Covid. Today, we talked about how long those two years seemed. Like a weight at times. But I knew the power of all those prayers would truly help us and it did. So thankful. I have a friend in the hospital , she had surgery and no one can stay with her...it's sad. I know that if I could not have been by Ted's side, it would have been a rougher time for us both. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh what hard times you two went through, and now you can rejoice on this two year anniversary. Be well my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Terra. It is so good to know my blog family was with us all along thru this. All those wonderful wishes and prayers. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteEnjoy the 2 year Anniversary, Prayers for You and Ted nightly ! Hoping for a Great Thanksgiving for you both ! Blessings; Gary
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gary. I hope you and your wife can have an enjoyable Thanksgiving. We plan on staying right here and not going anywhere. There will be big Thanksgiving celebrations when we can all gather without that Covid scare. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHow lovely to read such good news. The developments in medicine are amazing. %0 years ago this month my Mam died with the same lukaemia as your husband & there was very little treatment available. I've missed her so much as I grew up but thankfully my niece developed a different type about 10 years ago & had a bone marrow transplant which took a long time to recover from but she is so much better now. I remember you both in my prayers and wish you many more years of happiness together.
ReplyDeleteThank you Winifred. I am sorry about your mother. The transplant treatment is a miracle in itself. It's not an easy process either. So many things to watch and check. So glad your niece did well. I am grateful for your prayers. Bless you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSorry that was meant to read 50 years ago!

DeleteWhat a story! Ted is very good looking, and healthy looking! What a blessing that you both came thru this! And that it was before Covid!
ReplyDeleteGinny, You know how crazy it would have been to go thru what we did in Covid time. I stress easily at times, and I would have been loony-toons .
DeleteTed is working on gaining some of his energy level. It's pretty weak at this time. Stay safe where you are. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
Hi Susie- It is great that you and Ted have survived this enormous hurdle to good health. We are so fortunate to have the most caring of Clinical Staff - for they give it their all. Best Wishes. KEV.
ReplyDeleteKev, It was an enormous hurtle, but with prayers, wishes, and kindness and the love opf God...we have made it this far. Now we have to get Ted's strength back to a better place. He is working on it. Take care , Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

DeleteIt doesn't seem as if it has been two years already. Time sure flies. Such good news about Ted. I see my oncologist in February too so it will remind me to send extra prayers on his behalf around that time.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Kathy. Those two years dragged by while living them. You know how time is so deceiving. I will say we are ever so thankful it's over, at least the toughest parts. There will always be adjustments and follow ups. I pray for you to dear friend. Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLiterally an answer to prayer. So grateful that all our prayers have been answered and continuing prayers for both you and Ted.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Buttercup. I am eternally grateful to all who prayed or sent us good wishes. It has helped so much. It's good to have this for Thanksgiving this year, since we are staying home away from family groups or friends. Blessings to you, stay safe. xoxo, Susie

Deletehappy thanksgiving to both you and ted!!!
DeleteYes, Susie, you and Ted have been through a lot and yes, thank GOD it wasn't during this pandemic! This is a nightmare we are all experiencing together, my friend. Stay healthy...:)jp
ReplyDeleteThank you. A friend is in the hospital at this time and no one can be with her. Breaks my heart. These are scary times. I will say it was a tough two years, but getting to stay in the same room as Ted while he had his week long chemo treatment was a blessing. He was happy to have me near., because he was in that room for 30 days straight. Came home for two days for Christmas then went back for another week long chemo, two weeks later got Cdif. He had many hospital stays from set backs. We count it a blessing for his wonderful drs. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteCongrats on reaching the 2 year milestone. Blessings to you both.
ReplyDeleteThank you miss. We talked about how difficult what we went thru would be like in this Covid time...we are grateful it wasn't during anything like this. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

DeleteI know it's been a very long road for you and Ted, and it makes me happy to see that his health has stabilized. Happy Anniversary! The Covid has my husband and I on edge very much so, the deaths of people who are older or not 100% healthy scares us. So we try to be very careful and that's not easy when others are throwing caution to the wind. I pray people practice safety measures and that the vaccines are available soon.
ReplyDeleteSending love and hugs, Susie. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Thank you Blondie. Ted and I have too many health things to be out in any crowds. I am amazed at the lack of concern in so many people. So we just try our best to stay in and not get around others. You are doing the right thing . It is not easy, but praying for all of us to get thru this pandemic. Blessings to you and your family. xoxo, love Susie
DeleteI can't believe it has been two years but what a tough journey you all have traveled to good health! I pray that each day gets better and better and YES we all need to steer clear of COVID! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteTheresa, I can't risk us getting around crowds or even family, that have to be out of their homes to work. So we stay put. I am the only one going into the grocery or med store. That two years was a long time while we were living it. I do not want any more hospital time. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOH!! I can hardly type through my tears! I am so thankful! Your sweet Teddy Bear! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! How many things have we to be thankful for? SO many!! LOVE and hugs to you!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet girl. I will one day do a post on how many hospital trips and stays were involved in those two years. More than I can just recall, without looking at my journals. I had to let all of you know that you helped us thru to this time. We are so very grateful. Blessings to you and your family, stay safe. xoxo, Susie

So glad that Ted is feeling better now, and I know how thankful you are to have had good doctors and nurses and staff taking care of him. This is a handsome picture of Ted. DeleteYou have much for which to be thankful for this year, although I'm sure as you were walking through it, "gratitude" was the last thing on your mind. Just getting through every day had to be so hard, Susie. Well, three cheers to you both. I know the anxiety will not end but you have a reprieve and time to settle in and enjoy the season. I'm so happy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie. You are right everyday of drs, nurses, tests, and treatments was like never ending. I am happy to be here...but we are still in for many tests and visits. I suppose it is unending. Blessings to you, enjoy your TG. xoxo, Susie

ReplyDeleteI hope you both have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Stay safe! xo Diana
Thank you Diana, I looked back thru the first journal of Ted's cancer and I saw where you and John came by. I remember seeing you both...so happy. John was pretty good then. You have such a kind heart. John gave us that book to read. You sure helped us . Some times that two years seem much longer and other times, like not so long ago. I know Ted has some issues yet. But I keep praying. I stress too, can't seem to let that go. Take care of yourself Diana...isn't that so easily said. I know you put everyone else first. Bless your sweet heart. love you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I am not a spell caster! Just one of your many friends who are so thankful that you have survived all that you have been through. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving..xxoJudy
