For Ted's Birthday.

Here's an old picture of my sweetheart Ted. Yesterday would have been his 70th birthday. I miss this beautiful man. His kind heart, wonderful soul. His passing changed my life forever.
Granddaughter Sierra picked me up yesterday. We were meeting up with daughter Kathy , to help celebrate Ted's day. Even though he has celebrated this and last year's birthdays in heaven.
Kathy met us at Ted's favorite cafeteria....no it's not where this picture was taken.  We each picked what we wanted for lunch and got the last cheesecake to share. That was always Ted's most loved dessert. We each said happy birthday as we took a bite of the cheesecake.  Teddy would have loved it.  There used to be a sign at the cafeteria that read, "flown in fresh  from N.Y." How funny...I would tease Ted about that.

It was a good day. I was not left alone to get the blues.  I truly appreciate my family. After lunch, we followed Kathy to her apartment. She had some things for Sierra. My mother's old vanity, for one. Honestly I was surprised that Sierra fit it into the hatch back of that little Trax. We laughed as she even carried it , without the drawers down the stairs herself. Yes, in a dress. :):) Daughter Kathy is moving to Seattle to be with her son's family. He has been wanting her to be closer. She has thought about it for 3 years now. I will miss her something fierce, but happy for her to be in her son's little family circle.

Wishing all of you well. Enjoy this summer. Be safe. XO

  5. Your family is so dear for recognizing that you would need to have fun things to do on Ted's birthday. It sounds as if it was a special day. That's the trouble with family...they won't stay put. 😁

    1. Vee, When we have children and our homes are full of love and events ,I never thought of being alone. Of course I worked also. I have always had people around. I have many days where I will take a drive to be out of this house, for it seems too quiet. Ted and I were together all day everyday, except when he had golf or fishing. It feels like a part of me is missing. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Kathy, It was very nice to be with the girls. My Kathy was the last one to share a cheesecake with Ted at that cafeteria. Ted used to say, "after we get the all the yard work done , let's go to the cafeteria, " I knew he would get that dessert. Hope you and Joe are doing well. Hold tight to each other. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. I know we say this more than we should, but we have no idea the feelings and thoughts of those left left behind. We can sympathize, but somehow I know no one can KNOW the feelings except those who have experienced it. WE KNOW that one day one of us will be YOU. Love you lady and posts like this help us and many more. I like to think he is looking in on you! ;-)

It is amazing what determined young people can do. Fitting a piece of furniture in a car after carrying it down stairs!!

  19. Good Morning, Sweet Susie!
I just now managed to come and read your memory this morning---those first birthdays, Christmases, day-you-met are apart from any holidays you've ever celebrated, and evoke such tender memories of precious times. Your lovely, loving family is such wonderful support, and I'm so glad for you that you raised such a strong, encompassing group of young folks who so value Family ties.
I think of you so often, these days of at-home and not-getting-out-much, and know you have such a close, dear group to rely on and all take care of each other. I wish you sunshine and sweet memories every day.

    1. Bless your heart Racheld, You are so sweet. I do having loving children and grands. God was good to me. I know they have their own lives and it is so hard to ask for help even when we need it. I guess I am too independent. I had my last grief meeting in July...but I still have moments of crying. I do not cry all day and I really try to stay busy...but it happens. Thank you for those wonderful wishes. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
