Better Late Than Never.......

I found the pictures of Brock's open house.  So I have decided to show a few. Brock said he was playing his guitar  for me. He is such a sweet young man.  Once I took him to the grave yard to put flowers on his grandpa Eddie's grave. He was about 9, he had a harmonica with him, so he played a tune for his grandpa at the cemetery. It touched my heart.
Brock, Lynzie , and Emma.  I laugh at Emma, she is wearing the bridal shower dress that she was never going to wear again. :):)
My twins, Karen standing and Liz sitting , talking together till I tell them to look at me. LOL.
The young people playing a game of bean bag toss. Kids came and went the whole time. Some stayed longer. Friends and family were there to congratulate Brock and his class.
Matt in the checked shirt and his brother. Matt was raised on this property. He bought it and he and Liz are clearing areas. They have a lot of  ash trees.
Hope you have a great day  .  xo

Helicopters....

Last evening, I heard a noise over head. I grabbed my camera and by the  time I  got outside, these four helicopters were really almost to far to bother with a photo. Boy do I need a zoom lens.
I love planes, helicopters, and blimps. Once when Ted and I were at the cover bridge fest in Parke County, In. , we took a ride in a helicopter around the area. A Vietnam veteran was piloting it, offering rides. When we landed , Ted said, that was not so exciting. I said it was from my seat. Ted was in the back and I was in the front. All that was between me and falling out was the seat belt. There were no doors on this helicopter. :):) Weeee!
Hope you are having a good day. Cloudy here with threat of rain, but at this very moment the sun is trying to pop out. :)  xo

Chicken Coop.....

This is Emma's chicken coop. She has red chickens and some bk/wh mix. Now you all know I am a city slicker. I think the red is Rhode Island Reds. The Bk/wh ??
They are growing at least. Emma's father Matt , built a nice pen around the coop. It's not real big but it keeps the Critters out. I can't wait for Emma for find her first egg. Liz and Matt promised to get a picture of that.
This is a huge tree on the property. This seems like a big burl , but also like it could be insect damage. I didn't get too close. Well it is right beside the coop. Hope the tree out last the chickens. Does anyone know what the true name of these chickens, can be?
Hope your Sunday is wonderful. Ours is starting sweet and sunny....maybe rain later and possibly all week.  xo

Open House.....

I don't mind saying I am so mad...I was picking pictures to post and got these two , now my files seem to be locked up. I hate this new computer and windows 8. Well any way....here's Brock's cake. It really was cute. It says Rossville across the top and the little characters are wearing red caps and gowns as Rossville does, each one looked different.. I thought it was a perfect cake.
Liz, Brock's mom, had fixings for tacos in a bag.  Fruit, yogurt, cookies, and cup cakes also. Bottled waters. There were pictures, all over the house , of Brock ,from when he was an ultra sound(peanut)  till now.  If I am able to access the rest of my pictures, who knows when, I'll post more.  xo

T.G.I.F.......

Good morning, it's Friday.  That used to mean more when I worked. LOL.  This is the  way it looks down the road when the sun starts to rise.
I love all the beautiful colors . Today will be another busy day. My grandson is having open house this afternoon and the graduation is tomorrow morning. Funny how fast that came about. Seems he grew in a flash. Wishing all of you a good weekend and lots of memories.  xo

Growing Things....

This is my chicken pot. I put a red wave petunia in it. Hope it grows well. I wanted red flower this year. Oh by the way, my wild flowers did not come up. I wondered if there was even seeds in the saw dust like packing materials.
This is a hosta on the east side of the house. It looks very nice this year. I think it may be time to split it up .
The big blue hosta around this tulip poplar tree, used to be near the shed, but got too much sun . So I split it last year and now I have four nice sized plants. Need to put mulch around this tree, hoping to keep slugs from finding the hostas. I don't think they like mulch, not sure..I know they hate salt. There's always the beer dish. I think they get drunk and drown. LOL Mom used to say she would try the beer dish, but then she would have to worry about dad drinking it. :):)
Enjoy this great new day.  xo

Things Have Bloomed....

This is our clematis, blooming just the past three days. I love the big flowers it produces.
As you can see , it is loaded with flowers. Ted made this frame of wood and chicken wire.
This is the plant that is called "Blue Eye" . I have no idea it's official name. Or why blue and not purple. :):). I bought one plant let it grow for a year, then split it into three plants.
Here it is beside a clump of pachysandra.  Pachysandra is the hardiest thing I have ever grown. Gets about 8 inches high, will have yellow flowers ,late summer. Great border plant.
Now as I took this photo , I thought, I need to thin this bed out a bit. The evergreen "bird's nest" needs cut back. There's the barberry, pachysandra, mums, black eyed susans, and lilies. Also some sage plant. Right behind the evergreen is a container Ted made for the hose. I still have my pan for cleaning the hummingbird feeders beside it.:):) Wishing everyone a great day.  xo
