More Homemade Ornaments.....

My daughter Kathy is the seamstress of the family. She's been making things since she was just a little girl.  One year she bought some material that had  these Strawberry Shortcakes on them.
She sewed  them together , stuffed  them with cotton, tied on a yarn hanger.
This is a pretty one with whip stitching. Navy and gold colors.
I have to admit that Emma and I made these. She glued three popcycle sticks together, added googly eyes and a red puff ball for the nose, to make Rudolph.
Granddaughter Sierra , made this reindeer. Three clothes pins, glue two back to back, flip one and glue it to the body. Add the googly eyes and a red nose...oh and a bit of cotton for the tail.
I bought this material when the girls were small. I sewed it up and they stuffed all the angel girls with cotton.  We each have our own angel.
One year we bought a Christmas ornament kit, made of wood. The girls painted each one and added the ties. One of the girls glued cotton to the sled runner.
Liz made this cinnamon bear , punched a hole and tied on a red ribbon hanger.
Here's one made of dough and painted. As I recall it was also a tag tied to a gift.
I am sure Kathy made this one. Like I said she loves sewing.
This is one of the ornaments Emma and I made. Rolled up sheet music and tied with lace.
This little elf is so special. My oldest daughter received it when she was in kindergarten.  I remember how excited she was when she brought it home.  Hope I haven't bored you with the showing of some of our favorite ornaments.
Wishing all a great day.  Let us offer good wishes or prayers for our fellow bloggers who are in need of our love today. Thank you everyone. XO

  6. Oh what treasures. Next year I'm gonna have a smaller tree for the grands. I'm gonna use all the ornaments my children made and had. I may even do it before we get together to unwrap gifts this year. If so, I'll share.

When my daughter was young we used to make homemade ornaments, but she makes them with her own family nowadays, that's how it should be....

  24. hehehehe that little elf is so cute, Susie. And I like how you displayed the homemade ornaments on red and black plaid. I am really into plaid right now. You know, my husband made the same kind of reindeer that Sierra made when he was a young boy. And that Cinnamon Bear must have smelled so good when Liz first made it. Does it still smell of cinnamon?

So many wonderful homemade ornaments, and it's nice that you still have so many of them that you can look back and remember.

    1. Sheri, I laughed about your husband making on of those reindeer. I hope someone still has it. The cinnamon bear no longer smells like cinnamon but he's in pretty good shape. When My Angie was in kindergarten she had some dough ornaments they lasted a long time... till I stored them in the garage one year and they drew moisture and fell apart. Sad. Hope you are enjoying all the decorating. I loved seeing your pretty décor. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  25. I love Christmas ornaments and you have so many unique ones! I used to make some from felt, sequins and trim ~ the little bird was one. Also, made the small round styrofoam balls into ornaments with lots of sequins, beads and ribbon. Good 'ol days!

    1. Pat, Did you ever put something away for safe keeping and forget where you put it?? I have done that with some little felt birds my daughter Liz made me. She had feathers for wings and sequins for eyes. I hope I find them one day. When I do I am just going to keep them out...as they could work with many seasonal decorations. I have one of the Styrofoam ball ornaments. I think one of the girls made it in Sunday School. Blessings for a great weekend , xoxo,Susie
