Pumpkins.....

Just showing some old pumpkin photos. This line of pumpkins were taken before Luke was born. I thought it was cute of my granddaughter to name her pumpkins. :)
These are the biggest pumpkins I had ever seen in person.  The grower used a block and tackle to lift them into a trailer.
This is one of them. I was hoping to get pictures of his pumpkins this year, but missed my chance.
I loved the basket spilling out all kinds of tiny pumpkins and gourds.
This pumpkin must have gone to the dentist. Flashing his new braces.
A basket of glamour pumpkins. Soft velvets and sparkles.
The can pumpkins on display. I actually have seen these on front porches. I think you could put a candle in them. I don't think I have had a Jack-o-lantern since my girls were at home. That's been some  time.
Today is rainy and cold. It's 47 degrees and not going to be much warmer . Wow to think it was in the 70's just a couple days ago.  Time for jackets and sweaters.  One forecast said something about  flurries possible. No, please, it's too soon.  I always hate snow at Halloween time.  Poor trick or treaters.
Wishing all of you a great day. XO

  1. I love seeing the different ideas made from the pumpkins, they make me smile :)
I used to go all out at Halloween, I was the one in the neighborhood who decorated to the hilt, sadly no more, since the trick or treaters started targeting our neighborhood, and it wasn't long before a thousand were counted one night. It's a bit too much. So no longer do any of our neighbors decorate, and I'm sad that I have given it up too.
They have a grand time hosted by the shop keepers on the town square, which seems to be the norm nowadays.
Hope the snow stays away !
    Hugs,

    1. Jo, We used to just trick or treat our own neighborhoods. Or go to the parties given by the Moose Lodge. We have had few treaters here in the country. Let's all hope the snows stays away till much later. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. Susie, your pumpkin post was so delightful, I loved it all! That is the funniest pumpkin with the braces. And I love those little orange and white ones spilling out. The pumpkin cans are cute too. Oh, it's already raining there? Well, I always think the rain is good cause it cleans everything up, but I didn't think the snow would come this early for you. You must live in a coooold area. You know how much I love to see your snow pictures though, as this California girl doesn't get to see it often.

    love ya, Susie.

    1. Sheri, The rains here have settled the crop dust down. The soy bean fields always make lots of dust. It we would get a snow in Oct. we would think it's early, but certainly not unheard of here. This morning it's 44 degrees(Wed.) feels chilly in the house. I hate turning the heat on.LOL
I like seeing everyone's fall decorations. I only have two pumpkins that are real....they are outside. I like the ones I made from old sweaters....I just re-use them. Blessings for a great day. Love, xoxo, Susie

    1. Mildred, we used to see pumpkins that were painted like funny faces , when the girls and I would visit a state park we loved. If they aren't carved they last longer. Hope your day is a good one. It is cold here today. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. I love all your pumpkin pics. I wonder if big pumpkins like that have as good a flavor as normal. I've never carved a pumpkin, but the kids have. I will have to show Kate the pumpkin braces as she got hers put on yesterday.
It's cooler here and so windy it almost knocked me over today. There are whitecaps on the lake.

    1. Nonnie, One of the things I want to find out about the big pumpkins ...is how are they used? I do not think they are used for human food. We think they may be in contests to see which one is heaviest. I had two grands with braces.
It is cold here today. It may warm up again but no more 70's or higher. Just hoping the snows stay away a long time. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Pilar, I think with some craft paints...pumpkins could be painted to look like that. The one with braces was not real, but funny. The velvet ones was really pretty. Could be used in many fall decorations . Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Doris, I think pumpkins last longer if not carved and then can be used in a thanksgiving display. I have make some from old worn out sweaters, but have seen them made from all types of fabrics. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Linda, I think with all the warm weather we have had, I was simply shocked with this quick down turn in temperatures . The rains have settled the crop dust and dirt . There's lots of corn to be harvested yet. I do not want snow...of course I am one of those that can wait till January for it. Then one or two will do. LOL
Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

  9. I haven't carved a pumpkin since my daughter moved out. I miss those days. We had fun carving while the seeds roasted in the oven.

    1. Nellie, I can't turn the heat on yet...I am stubborn that way. we will wear sweaters for a bit. Maybe have a small fire in the fireplace. We some times will use a fan or space heater, rather than turn the AC or heat on. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

    1. I think our cold snap may led us right into winter like conditions. We did need the rain to clean the crop dust/dirt from the air. It's in the 40's here. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  12. Lots of pumpkins and I loved seeing the one with braces...how creative! It's turned cooler here too. We went from a/c to heat and there's a freeze warning for the weekend. I'm not ready for cold weather or snow, either! Winter is my least favorite season although I love Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Have a nice week! xo Cheryl

    1. Cheryl, We too have a freeze warning. I told Ted I was tired of messing with our flowers...so if it happens I will just go into winter prep and get rid of the plants and flowers outside. I am not a lover of winter either. I think it's from not having warm coats, hats, and boots growing up. Now my blood is thinner and I get cold easily. Hope your week is good too. Bless you, xoxo, Susie

  15. What fun - love all the photos - the braces one is darling. Such imagination people have for decorating. We are expecting rain - again - in the Pacific Northwest - but that is usual for us. Hope your snow forecast isn't true. Have a great day.

    1. JoAnn, My grandson now lives in Seattle. He and his wife just moved this month. Oh my goodness it was cold today. The sky did clear up and the sun was shining but the air was sharp. I do not like snow in October. LOL. Or Nov., or Dec. LOL. You know what I mean. :):) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  16. What cute pictures, Susie. I think the one with braces is quite comical.

It is getting cold here, too. I knew the nice weather was too good to last. it is supposed to get down to freezing tonight so I brought my plants in that I want to overwinter.

Hope you have a great Wednesday-xo Diana

    1. Diana, I am so not ready for nasty old winter. The older I get the less I like it. Tonight Lynzie sent me photos of Max helping carve the pumpkin...well he was digging it's insides out. LOL. I might have to do one more pumpkin post. LOL. I have worked so hard all spring/summer/ fall on my containers and I am just ready to let them go. So I will be cleaning out pots this weekend. 1. We know the baby pumpkin was Luke. :) I am hoping the frost here is what will be the snow cold and it will be gone in a few hours. It has snow in October here before with leaves on the trees. I will say the colder day has brought some color to our area. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  19. Hello my friend...the weather here has surely changed drastically as well. We had a hard frost last night after being in the 70's over the weekend! Those large pumpkins are amazing!! I don't think we ever outgrow our infatuation with pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns, do we Susie? Enjoy the fun this season.
    Love you.
