Saturday Fun......

This is Friday 's sunset....seems to be getting darker so much earlier now.. I am already missing those long days that lasted till ten o'clock pm. . LOL   I like to call my daughter Angie  at 9:30 or later, on the 1st day of summer and say, "hey the sun is still shining." She loves that.
Today my sisters and one brother went to a friend's house to meet up with other friends. This is sister Pam, sister Brenda,  Millie (friend), and me. We are at Judy's house. Judy is the sister to our late sister -in-law.  Millie and her husband Jerry were dear friends to our brother and his wife. Our brother, Miles and his wife Brenda , have been gone 18 years now. They were killed in an accident.  A young man ran a stop sign, clipped a semi, and the semi ran over our brother's car. God knew to take them together. We miss them still.
This is sister Pam sitting on a little broom , while niece Kelly ( Miles n Brenda's daughter) shows her how to fly like a witchy poo. We laughed so hard at these two. We had a picnic outside today. Judy had some b-b-q pork sandwiches, potato salad, cherry dump cake, cookies and drinks for everyone.  What a fun time.  Millie and Jerry were a bit older than Miles and Brenda but they clicked and always had the best of times. Millie and Jerry have been together for 50 or more years. Some people just seem to belong together to me.
Like this photo I took off of pinterest. When I see an older couple, I always think to myself....they go together like toast and honey. They were met to be. I saw this quote with it: A little walk on a long journey, that went by quickly .
When I came home , I framed this art work. A robin that Emma had drawn for me a couple years ago. The two footprint robins from Max and Luke. Their mom painted their feet and pressed them on paper. The paper of the painting was a bit wrinkled but I framed it anyway.  I hung them together on the back mudroom wall.  More precious than a masterpiece. :)
Wishing all of you a fun Saturday evening. Enjoy your Sunday morning too. XO

  2. I love everything! This is a precious post in so many many ways! You and your siblings + friends celebrating Life. Every family has its heartbreaks and you have certainly had yours. And yet your family still has fun and gets together.
The two riding the broom cracked me up! Is that a younger teaching an older the best way to do it? Hahaha!
And the old couple. That put a lump in my throat. About 15 years ago, I was sure I would grow old alone. Then God gave me Louis Dean. I was reading about my friend Billy, who buried his father yesterday and shared the video/slide show of memories they showed at the service. (We were just out to dinner with Billy and Brenda last week.) His dad had a sudden and major heart attack and was quickly gone. I went in to check on Louis Dean who was lying down in the guest room. He had gor up and was staggering around all dizzy. I got him back to bed and prayed. I took his blood pressure and it was really low. I figured out he must have accidently taken TWO blood pressure pills this morning. He's okay but it scared me bad!
Now that art work!!! Nothing more precious!
We went to church tonight so we will enjoy a day at home tomorrow. Hope you have a blessed Sunday! Love and prayers!!

    1. Linda, When the girls were on the brooms, we said Pam needed training wheels on hers.
I am glad you have LD to share life . I was lonely last evening....Ted was at a camp out chili supper at my daughter's..I did not want to be in the woods, because I like a heavy frost to kill off ticks first.
Blessings to you dear friend, xoxo, love, Susie

Sounds like you and your friends and family have been enjoying time well spent together! Your photos of the fog and sunrises and sets are gorgeous! I too hate to see the days getting shorter:( And colder... but that is part of living in the Midwest I guess. You4 fall decorations are really pretty!!!
The photo and saying of the older couple was perfect. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes the journey does go by way too fast..

  10. I am so happy that you have folks around you that you can call friends and family and have fun with. Weall need to have a bit of fun in our lives.

That is awful about your brother and his wife. That must have been so horrible on your family when that happened. Death is never easy but to lose two people at once is terrible...and they left kids behind. So sad.

God bless you, Susie. Hope you are having a great Sunday. xo Diana

    1. Diana, You would have loved MIles....so funny, kind and smart. He and his wife were thinking about retiring soon...when that accident happened. Their children were married, just barely, when they passed. Mile's wife Brenda and our sister Brenda were best friends.:):) He was a detective for the Indiana State Police, after being a trooper for years. I hate losing both at once, but I don't know how one would have carried on without the other. Too sad to even think about. So I see them walking hand in hand still.
Today is so slow , keep hearing Ted snore a bit here and there. LOL. Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie

    1. Missy, I will bring those robins pics put in spring:):) Our brother Miles, his wife Brenda , were good people .They both worked for law enforcement. I felt sad when I first looked at the elderly couple, then I remembered my neighbor couples when I was young. Old loving couples that made things work for them, always showing love, hold hands or helping one another out of a chair. :)
Blessings to you , xoxo, Susie

  12. What a wonderful and special day! Getting together with family is so fun, but I'm sorry to read about your brother Miles and Brenda. So sad to lose both at once, and even though you are right in some ways that at least they were together, that isn't that consoling to the ones left behind. You are blessed to have so much family and family close enough to get together. So cute your sister learning to ride the broom.
    God bless you, Susie.

    1. Nonnie, The loss of Miles took something from our mother, she never seemed to totally recover. It was a very hard time for our family. It is good to have family to help one another thru hard times . We enjoyed the picnic, spoke of loved ones that have passed, had some laughs. God loves us. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  13. What a fun day you had with your sisters and brother, Susie. The picnic lunch sounds great, and I'm wondering what cherry dump cake is? Oh Yes, this Pinterest picture of the old couple is beautiful. The footprint robins of Max and Luke are treasures, and the robin from Emma is sweet. I can see why you wanted them framed.

I hope you are enjoying these Autumn days, Susie. The leaves are falling now and changing into the prettiest oranges, reds, and golds.

On the first day of winter, the shortest day ever...then our days will start becoming longer again. I am just not a lover of winter any more. Blessings to all , xoxo, Susie

  15. I'm glad you got to have this special, fun day with your family. My brothers are both gone and I miss them so much. We did get to see several of my hubby's family Saturday at a wedding and that was a fun time visiting. It was a gorgeous Saturday and then we had a lot of rain that night which was much needed. It filled our pond back up.
Have a great week, Susie, hope your computer is working okay now!
