Saturday Ted and I went for a drive around town. It's been so gloomy, I just needed to get out of the house.
Once in town, I could see the spring banners on the light poles.
Going thru the park, the creek is flowing over it's banks into the park grounds.
Here's the old restrooms. Thankful the city has decided to clean and restore them , rather than tear them down. They are closed during winter months.
The park gazebo. There was some standing water throughout the park.
I asked Ted to drive by this purple house. I have always loved the lines and style of this house, but I actually hate this color. I heard the professional painters beg the lady to think hard about her color choice. She still went with this color, then hated it herself. Her husband refused to pay for another paint job over it, so she is having to endure till he will have it repainted. I always say a person should have to take a federal color chart test to pick an outside color. LOL
Some lilies are popping thru the ground here. Unheard of in February, but very promising. We had rain and super high winds last night.
Today is 30 mile an hour winds and NO rain. A few days of dry weather is needed here. I know many areas are in danger , you are in my prayers. Floods , the worse in 50 or so years. Please be safe. XO
Oh! It is WET down your way! Here we still have lots of snow cover left. I love that gazebo and glad they are restoring the bathrooms rather than tearing them down.
ReplyDeleteI love that house, too, but the color is NOT right for that house. I like the idea of a color test before being allowed to paint. We have an ORANGE and YELLOW house on the west side of town and it is U-G-L-Y! lol
Have a great Sunday- xo Diana
Diana, I could not believe the color of that house and it is accented with turquoise. It looks like a clown house to me. The was a big house on the west side of town and it was yellow trimmed in red and green ...I thought that was terrible combination. I say paint any color inside, because not everyone will see it...but outside be modish . This week if I am up to it, I will post about our theater's paint job. Blessings for a great week. Love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat wind was really howling last night. Lot of people in shelters here because of flooding near the Ohio and some creeks. Roads still closed until the River crests this week. I am so glad you were able to get out and see some signs of spring! I like the style of the purple house, too. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I awoke in the night with the pumps running in the basement...then just as I was about to go back to sleep the wind howled something fierce. It was scary. I am praying for those in dire troubles from the flooding. So sad. Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie, I love to see towns that have gazebos in the center of the town. Wow, that purple house is something else. Do you know the owners? That's too bad that they didn't like the color once painted. Purple is my favorite color, but not for houses. : ) I'm glad you got some rain. It sounds like you and Ted had a pleasant drive around town. It's one of my favorite things to do.
ReplyDeletelove, ~Sheri
Sheri, Our area almost had too much rain and many just north and south of us did indeed get way too much rain. They are flooding and being evacuated . I am so thankful for these next few days of dry weather.
DeleteSheri,I love purple too but not on houses. Maybe a seaside cottage it would work okay. Hope you are all well . Blessings, love you, xoxo, Susie
oh Susie you have no snow,,, lol,, maybe I could send you some,,just kidding,,, such a lovely town you live in,, that purple house is a beauty,, I'm one the odd men out,, I LOVE purple,, lol,, not on a house though!!!! We have a few odd colored houses here as well but not many,,so that makes them stand out big time.
ReplyDeleteLOL...no Laurie, I do not want snow now that it's almost spring. :):) I like purple in paintings, clothing ,but not on the outside of houses. LOL I often wonder what possesses people. Blessings to you, stay warm, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSometimes a drive around town or in the country is just what we need to get rid of those cabin fever blues. I get them this time of year, too. We just bought a "new to us" camper, so tweaking it and dreaming of warm weather camping trips has helped me get through these grey, raining one day and snowing the next last days of winter. Spring is coming . . . I know it is:)
ReplyDeleteThat beautiful gazebo reminds me of the one that was (maybe still is) in Michigan City when I was a kid they had weekly band music there in the summer.
Have a lovely day.
Connie :)
Connie, It just did me so much good to get out and about. Today the sun did come out this afternoon. Hooray. I needed it . I want to go back to the park and poke around to see what's new there. So many ash trees have been cleared the past two or three years. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHow I would LOVE to go inside that house...wrong color choice however! We are having a beautiful sunny spring day here in Texas after a gloomy wet week! It's gorgeous! Have a good week Susie..love the park gazebo!
ReplyDeleteBetsy, We too got some sunshine this afternoon. I am so thankful the heavier rains missed us. The southern and northern parts of the state have been flooded. Many our evacuated from their homes. I hope you have a great new week too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSunshiny here, but cold and snow on the ground. Hubby and I have to get out now and then to chase away the winter blues as well. We have a gazebo at the park just down the road from us. I love the quaint feel that it gives the park. That house is beautiful, but yes; the color is awful!! Hope you have a nice week with sunshine!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Thank you Jann...we have sunshine this very afternoon. I am loving it. Already been outside looking around. We had more rain and high winds last night. It was scary, but I am thankful we were spared what the northern and southern parts of our state received. Many are flooded out of their homes. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat gazebo reminds of the gazebo from my days in college. There was a beautiful gazebo on campus. Have a wonderful week Susie!
ReplyDeletePilar, At graduation time, kids come to the park for photos and there's always many getting them done at the gazebo. Didn't you love your college days? I see kids walking on campases and I wonder if they appreciate their youth and chance for an education. I pray they do. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThanks for the tour. We always said when we saw a house that had a "ugly" color. That paint must have been on sale real cheap!! haha. We have sunshine, but a cold wind off the mountains makes a scarf and gloves feel real good.
ReplyDeleteWent shopping Saturday with oldest daughter, Michel, and we added some new yellow and blue to my kitchen and table at Home Goods. Everything was on sale. When I set the table, I will post a picture of my finds.
Hope you are having a good day. Love and Hugs.
Wanda, I used to call some blues, "swimming pool blue on sale" The man that painted that house has bought the house across the street from it , he only lives a half block away now. They need computer imagining to be able to show what a house will look like when completed.
DeleteGlad you had mother /daughter time with your girl. I love days with my mine. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I feel the same way with the gloom and rain. We escaped to Lake Geneva this weekend and it was sleet there!! Still good to see friends.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope for better weather the week.
Jane x
Blondie, Monday was very nice here, chilly but lots of sunshine. I am ready for the wet gloomy days to be gone. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteBefore you know it those trees will be full of lush green leaves and Spring will have sprung!
ReplyDeleteCarrie, You are so right, it won't be long now. I always look at a stand of tree behind the old Nun's Academy here...they get a faint green look before any others. Spring is coming. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYou gotta love a mistake that is THAT big!!! Bet she will neer do that again!! There's a house in Mart that is painted the ugliest blue you ever saw!
ReplyDeleteToday was sunny and I got out! We wanted to go to the ranch this coming Friday but they have had SO MUCH rain! Sherry called me Friday and said the tanks are overflowing and that, while we used to have a trailer and a deck - we now have a houseboat an da dock! That's a lot of wet!!!
Linda, I am surprised that the husband of that house didn't just put his foot down. There comes a time for that. LOL We have had a couple nice sunny days in a row. So much better than the rain. Funny what Sheri said...but I am hoping the water doesn't get any higher at the ranch. Blessings to you, love, xoxo, Susie
DeleteEnjoyed the tour of your town, Susie. It is raining here this morning and we need to get out early. It's been foggy in the mornings the last week.
ReplyDeleteSylvia, I think we had more foggy morning last year than I can ever remember. London had nothing on us.:):) Wishing you some sunshine too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
Deletep.s. Spring is so near .
We have a house that color in my old neighborhood..Looks like a great house..fun to go thru it..We've had the same weather..now 2 sunny days followed by more rain,,maybe snow by the weekend.
ReplyDeleteMissy, I would love to see inside that house...then again I do not know about the lady's choice of colors. Might be wilder inside. :):) I love the old style of that house. It's in an old neighborhood that had wonderful good built home. Big homes. Yes, we are into the third day with some sun each day. I am loving it . Seeing more birds around now. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt looks like you live in a lovely neighborhood. The purple house looks like a couple of houses in this neighborhood...'cept for the color.
ReplyDeletePaul, That purple is plain ugly to me...so the lady that chose that color must be kind of color blind. Funny how she hated it "after" the men painted the entire house !! I love that old style of that house. Hope you are stay dry and well. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThis was fun. Thank you for the tour. I think the house would look lovey in white with some dark blue trim and shutters.
ReplyDeleteWe received 12 inches of snow over the weekend. WOW!!
Oh dear Carla, so much snow!! I hop[e ti melts slowly, so no flooding. We were once again blessed by God...high water and heavy rains and the sump pumps only ran about an hour. Did not lose any branches or limbs from our trees. If that house gets repainted in my life time, I will post of it again. Some people have little taste in choosing colors. :) Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a charming town! I can see why you love the purple house, too. I do as well -- it's beautiful. Wouldn't you love to see inside? Thanks for coming by Marmelade Gypsy and your words about our Baby Grand's first!
ReplyDeleteJeanie, I do love the house's style and would dearly love to go inside. But I truly hate that garish purple color. I am hoping the lady's husband will break down and have the house re-painted. I love visiting your site. You have interesting things going on, family, trips, adventures. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi there Susie--I so enjoyed this tour through your town! It looks like a small town, is it? I do love small towns so much! I also love towns that have gazebos, they add so much! I love the purple house myself. We raised our kids in a big old Victorian Painted Lady. They are known for their bright and showy colors. Not everyone likes them and that is okay!!--we all have our own taste. I had ours trimmed in purple, pink and green. Painting all those little spoke/spindle things on the front porch took me forever but I so loved it. I love bright colors and I figured "you only live once"--if you want a bright house you may as well do it, ha ha ha LOL Our main house part was neutral though....it was the TRIM that I did painted lady. Have you ever seen the Painted Ladies of San Francisco? They have gorgeous ones!! There are several books as well. And Cape May, New Jersey, has painted ladies I think? I guess i'ts an acquired taste, ha ha So glad you stopped by and yes, I do love walking in the rain, LOL Do you? Sounds like you sure had some bad storms there. I did like your sunset photo!
ReplyDeleteDebbi, The purple of the house would work in a seaside area....but this beautiful house looks wrong in this neighborhood in that color. The lady that chose the color hated it as soon as it was done...she should have had one wall painted and then decided. LOL. Yes, I have seen many of the painted ladies. it's the trims that have the bold colors usually. I am sure you did love your house after painting it yourself. We can always take such pride in working on our own. I have painted for years. I do not mind walking in any weather. I miss walking in town. Will be walking with my sisters in the park come warmer weather. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLooks very wet and early springtime there! If the lady wanted a purple house, it's too bad she was unhappy when it was done. Oh well...she sounds like an adventurous (or stubborn lol) spirit! Hopefully they find a color they are happy with SOON!
ReplyDeleteLinda, I had to laugh, I am thinking stubborn. Her husband is now being the stubborn one. LOL. The company owner that painted her house lives a half block away and will soon be moving across the street from that purple house. LOL. Maybe he will give them a discount on the next job. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
