Sunset Changes....

At this time of year, the sun sets behind a small group of trees on the corner. I thought this was looking pretty on Monday evening.
Out on the road in front, I could catch the last fiery ball of the sun as it sinks  into the horizon.
Not that much later...it all changes. All the pretty pink clouds.
I love to watch the sun set when I know there's going to be lots of colors.
It looks so golden in the center.
I walked back to the road here. As pretty as this looks it was getting dark.  I remember telling my mother when I was a kid.....that it's day and night at the same time, whenever it was like this.
Tuesday morning was 29 degrees and frosty. This is the bean field across the road. The frost shows up more in it . I wasn't dressed to go out and get a shot of frost on the lawns and roofs. Oh boy it was cold. But by afternoon it was nice out, sunny skies and not as cold.
I want to show you Layla's new pet. It's a wooly worm. She played on and off all of Saturday with that thing. She had created a box with twigs and grass. Her mother Emily made it a dampen pad  for it to climb on...she looked it up on line. :):)
My mums looks bright....I know I need to thin them out .
Look how crowded these are. LOL.  Mums do not smell so pretty but they have a smell that makes me think of fall.
Stay safe everyone. Keep others in your thoughts and prayers please. XO

  1. Boy do we live in very different areas! You've got lots of open space. Here there's not room to swing a dead cat, if that's your idea of a good time!

    1. Boston Boy, I had a friend in Chicago that used to tease about people in the Midwest sailing flat cats they find on the road. LOL. Since the crops are being harvested...we can see forever. I love it. But all this openness can be lonely at times. One of the reasons I loved living by the track..when it was winter and no one could get out, a train would go by and I felt like there were others in the world. LOL. BLessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. Gorgeous sunset!

Is a wooly worm the same thing as a caterpillar?

    1. Sandi, Yes a caterpillar with a fur coat. :):) They kind of creep me out...as some can sting. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. You have such pretty sunsets, Susie! I remember playing with "wooly bear" caterpillars as a kid. There's some sort of old thing that says the size of the band of colour on one of them predicts how long the winter will be. Your mums are so full and healthy looking. -Jenn

    1. Thank you Jenn. Layla's mom said when she showed us the worm...did you know people predict winter by them? haha We all laughed. I told her I had seen every color of worm and I had heard about the bands too. Layla was enjoying it so much. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  8. Such beautiful pictures of the sunset! We can’t see one from here at home and I miss seeing them at the ranch.
Oh, that sweet little Layla with her woolly worm!
29 degrees is pretty cold! We are far away from that here in Texas!

    1. Linda, I have laughed about that wooly worm since I was there with Layla. I hate when I can't get sunset photos ...it's the sunrises I have a hard time catching because of the little woods on both sides of the road east of us. We have turned the heat on low and I am already sick of it. LOL. I wanted to open the windows for a couple days before the cold arrived. Blessings to you, stay safe there, xoxo, love you, Susie

Ted and I just went on the porch and sat out at 5:00 this afternoon. The nicest day in a long time. The sun was shining on us , so it was warm. But just right kind of warm. :):) I loved it. Your mums are amazing. I can not get them to come back year to year. I wonder if we get too cold? Or I just do something wrong. ;-) You have the MUM touch. :-)

    1. Carla, I think some zone are just too cold thru the winter and the roots freeze on some plants. My problem with mums...I forget to trim them back in summer before they bloom. I love all the wonderful colors. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

    1. Susie, It's getting to that time where I want to sit with a warm blanky and hot coffee on the sofa. LOL. We have had every kind of weather just today. Cold, then warmer and some sun...then 40 mile an hour wind gust, rain and now the sun is back out and it is chilly again. Two weather fronts moved in. You know our summer was way too hot to truly sit outside and enjoy. I am praying we get some pleasant fall day. I hope that for you too. Susie, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think I could sit and talk with you for days. Take care, love you. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
