At this time of year, the sun sets behind a small group of trees on the corner. I thought this was looking pretty on Monday evening.
Out on the road in front, I could catch the last fiery ball of the sun as it sinks into the horizon.
Not that much later...it all changes. All the pretty pink clouds.
I love to watch the sun set when I know there's going to be lots of colors.
It looks so golden in the center.
I walked back to the road here. As pretty as this looks it was getting dark. I remember telling my mother when I was a kid.....that it's day and night at the same time, whenever it was like this.
Tuesday morning was 29 degrees and frosty. This is the bean field across the road. The frost shows up more in it . I wasn't dressed to go out and get a shot of frost on the lawns and roofs. Oh boy it was cold. But by afternoon it was nice out, sunny skies and not as cold.
I want to show you Layla's new pet. It's a wooly worm. She played on and off all of Saturday with that thing. She had created a box with twigs and grass. Her mother Emily made it a dampen pad for it to climb on...she looked it up on line. :):)
My mums looks bright....I know I need to thin them out .
Look how crowded these are. LOL. Mums do not smell so pretty but they have a smell that makes me think of fall.
Stay safe everyone. Keep others in your thoughts and prayers please. XO
Boy do we live in very different areas! You've got lots of open space. Here there's not room to swing a dead cat, if that's your idea of a good time!
ReplyDeleteBoston Boy, I had a friend in Chicago that used to tease about people in the Midwest sailing flat cats they find on the road. LOL. Since the crops are being harvested...we can see forever. I love it. But all this openness can be lonely at times. One of the reasons I loved living by the track..when it was winter and no one could get out, a train would go by and I felt like there were others in the world. LOL. BLessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSunsets are so beautiful in the Fall. It is still warm here. I also saw my first woolly worm this year.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Lisa, I had to laugh at Layla , carrying that worm around. I wonder if he is still alive. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI imagine the life span of the wooly worm isn't long.
ReplyDeleteAdam, I wondered about that...especially since Layla was carrying him a round every few minutes. :) She sure did not want the dog to see it. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGorgeous sunset!
ReplyDeleteIs a wooly worm the same thing as a caterpillar?
Sandi, Yes a caterpillar with a fur coat. :):) They kind of creep me out...as some can sting. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI'm trusting that is a safe wooly worm! Your sunsets and your mums are so beautiful. And, of course, Layla is!
ReplyDeleteNonnie, Oh yes, I think Layla's mom checked it all out on line. I know some caterpillars can sting. But what a funny pet. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteBeautiful photos! I think Layla has chosen a good pet!
ReplyDeleteLaurie, I can't stop giggling about Layla's new pet...Wish I could have convinced my daughters those could be pets. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteYou have such pretty sunsets, Susie! I remember playing with "wooly bear" caterpillars as a kid. There's some sort of old thing that says the size of the band of colour on one of them predicts how long the winter will be. Your mums are so full and healthy looking. -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThank you Jenn. Layla's mom said when she showed us the worm...did you know people predict winter by them? haha We all laughed. I told her I had seen every color of worm and I had heard about the bands too. Layla was enjoying it so much. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSuch beautiful pictures of the sunset! We can’t see one from here at home and I miss seeing them at the ranch.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sweet little Layla with her woolly worm!
29 degrees is pretty cold! We are far away from that here in Texas!
Linda, I have laughed about that wooly worm since I was there with Layla. I hate when I can't get sunset photos ...it's the sunrises I have a hard time catching because of the little woods on both sides of the road east of us. We have turned the heat on low and I am already sick of it. LOL. I wanted to open the windows for a couple days before the cold arrived. Blessings to you, stay safe there, xoxo, love you, Susie
DeleteYour mums are very pretty and cheerful. The sunset photos, too! I don't like to see it get dark so early when the time changes, but I do love the changing of the seasons.
ReplyDeleteKaren, I don't like losing the long sweet days of summer. As soon as the first day of winter arrives I start thinking...the days are getting longer, from now on. LOL I have made a few bouquets from some of the mums. Blessings to you, stay warm. xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh what beautiful sky pictures. My favorites! Love the mums. So colorful. Enjoy your day dear friend. Hugs
ReplyDeleteThank you Theresa. I will be getting my flu shot today. Glad to get it over with. :) We had a nice sunset last night but not near the pretty colors of Mondays. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThe sunset photos are beautiful...the color changes are amazing. I love fall lighting! Layla is a cutie patootie!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I agree about Layla...but times she's spoiled. yikes. Not my doing. LOL. I love all the wonderful colors of sunsets. I like the ones you show us on the lake too. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLayla is a sweetie...but you know that already! How amazing that the frost was so heavy you could see it in the fields. Frost on the pumpkin! Enjoy your afternoon! Send some of that cool air down here! lol
ReplyDeleteDiane, I would love for all of us to have a long 65 degree autumn. LOL.It's going to be around 20 degrees on Sunday morning...that's too cold too soon. Ted and I just went on the porch and sat out at 5:00 this afternoon. The nicest day in a long time. The sun was shining on us , so it was warm. But just right kind of warm. :):) I loved it. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWhat a perfect Fall post! That sunset is incredible and are your mums but that little Layla is absolutely adorable. I love that she has a worm for a pet haha - Yeah, you won't find me holding one. Stay warm!!
ReplyDeleteSaimi
Saimi, Oh girl, I know what you mean...the bugs and worms I would pick up as a kid, are all gross now. LOL. I love the colors of autumn. Blessings to you and your family, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteYour mums are amazing. I can not get them to come back year to year. I wonder if we get too cold? Or I just do something wrong. ;-) You have the MUM touch. :-)
I love your sunset photos.
Carla
Carla, I think some zone are just too cold thru the winter and the roots freeze on some plants. My problem with mums...I forget to trim them back in summer before they bloom. I love all the wonderful colors. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteLucky for you that mums are hardy in your zone. Not here, sadly. Loved reading and seeing about Layla and her new pet. So sweet. I love the wonder of children's hearts and eyes and minds. What gorgeous sunset photos!! Have a wonderful weekend, Susie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Judy. Kids aer amazing to me. I love them all...even the bratty ones are good most times. LOL. Or they can be. I have had luck with mums. They are so hardy is the only reason they live with me. LOL. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteWe all love the beauty of sunset and sunrises. So breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteLayla is so cute.....
BJ, I laugh when ever I am around Layla. Kids have a funny way of thinking, that is precious. Hoping we have some more pretty days. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteIt's wonderful that Layla isn't afraid to let a wooly worm perch on her finger!
ReplyDeleteNo frost here yet but it's coming soon. Sunsets are glorious though not as spectacular as yours here!
Hi Dewena, Hope all is well there with you and yours. I am curious as to know if Layla's wooly worm is still in it's little bin.Oh that still makes me laugh.
DeleteToday is pretty and so windy...two fronts will move thru here before tomorrow and may bring a few flurries. I am not ready for that kind of weather here in Oct. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I love Fall and Summer sunsets! They're so pretty! You captured beauriful sunsets Susie! It was actually cold this morning! It warmed up by afternoon though lol. I think Fall is finally in the air! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi Pilar, Hope your fall last a nice long time. I want better temperatures and no snow , in my forecast. LOL. But it may have flurries here tonight. I hate snow when there's leaves still on the trees. :)
DeleteHope you are doing well and enjoy your weekend. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
I love sunsets and yours are so beautiful. I also love your part of the country, so open and beautiful. I'm not surprised you've already had a big frost. We're expecting our first freeze and frost tonight and tomorrow night. Take care and enjoy your weekend. xoxo
ReplyDeleteSusie, It's getting to that time where I want to sit with a warm blanky and hot coffee on the sofa. LOL. We have had every kind of weather just today. Cold, then warmer and some sun...then 40 mile an hour wind gust, rain and now the sun is back out and it is chilly again. Two weather fronts moved in. You know our summer was way too hot to truly sit outside and enjoy. I am praying we get some pleasant fall day. I hope that for you too. Susie, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I think I could sit and talk with you for days. Take care, love you. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh, look at those skies! I love the picture taken from the road. That's beautiful, Susie. It's already 29 degrees and you're getting frost! I have a few blog friends who have gotten snow already! What a cute picture of Layla and the wooly worm.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice October week, Susie. Can't believe the month is almost over.
love, ~Sheri
