There's A Match....

Monday morning Ted called the Indiana Blood and Marrow Transplantation group. The navigator nurse told him she was looking at a match for his bone marrow transplant.  On Tuesday they called and said the donor was a great match. So Ted will be going there one day during the first week of April for tests and prep for his transplant ….which you can not pin them done on a date.
We have blood labs three days a week, to make sure Ted is still in remission and having good numbers. For his hemoglobin, platelets, white blood cells, and others factors. We also had a dentist appointment to remove a tooth that was questionable to Ted's  good dental health. Which he also has to have to have the transplant.
This is Ted celebrating with ice cream at our local D.Q. Oh that sweet smile. Oh that gaudy coat, LOL. He likes this coat, that Matt (SIL) gave him.
It was a gloomy day, but we were happy that some one out there was a match for Ted to receive his bone marrow transplant. Some one we do not know. Thank you to that wonderful caring person.
I will post once we find out more details from the all day testing.  Can you even believe that I , myself finally went to the doctor. Have to have labs this morning, cholesterol check. Time to renew my med script.
Posting a big thank you and our gratitude to all of you out there praying and thinking good thoughts for Ted and I.  We want you to know how much we appreciate all of you. XO

  3. Now that coat and that smile are the antidote for that gloomy day. (Probably the ice cream, too.)

Good news that there is a match! Praise God for those who help in this way.

So glad that you are taking good care of yourself, too. Gotta keep the caregiver strong.

  5. Awww...he's looking good, Susie. Praying for his bone marrow ordeal to be over with and praying that it is successful and he will be cancer-free. He is too good of a guy to have to continue to suffer.

I hope YOU are holding up okay..and I am glad that you finally took yourself to see the doctor!

Love to you- I will text you when I get to Mindy's next week. I think we will be down there late Thursday and will have to come home Sunday night as John has a hospital 'speech' to give on Monday. sigh...was hoping to stay a couple extra days with Mins. xo Diana

  7. My Dear Susie Q.....I just caught up with the posts I’ve missed! So much going on in your life. Ted getting sick has been hard and you have handled it so well. I don’t blame you for crying in the parking lot after that whirlwind trip to spend 5 minutes with the doctor. You’ve been through a lot lately. Praise God things are going in the right direction for Ted to make a complete recovery. I’m proud of you for going to the doctor yourself. You can’t take care of others unless you take care of yourself. Hang in there, Susie Q! Keep your eye on the prize - that handsome husband of yours! We pray for you both every day.......love you, Susie! So very much.....

    1. Thank you Linda. Thank LD for me too. Ted is going to be laid up for awhile, because they will take his immune system back down to zero so his own body doesn't reject the bone marrow transplant. The donor's marrow will be made into stem cells and put into ted as a blood transfusion to go thru his body and bones. Amazing to even think about it. I am grateful for the donor, for all donors who unselfishly help others. Thank you for all the wonderful prayers you send up for us. We are grateful for all. Some times I think I am losing it ...so I just cry, then I pray. LOL. Blessings to you and LD. Love you guys, xoxo, Susie

    1. Doris, Today is to be spring like...so we may clean up the yard. I have had to let lots of it go ,these past 4and half months. It will do us good to get outside in the sunshine. Yes, I am so very grateful to the donor. We will be going thru some tests soon. It will be a whole day work up. Then they will let us know when the transplant will start. This is going to be a tough time, but at least it's spring. I will have to have some tests done this summer that I have put off. Mammogram and such. When people have to wait, as in the transplant, you truly can not plan anything....you have to be ready to go. Blessings to you and your family for your prayers and well wishes, xoxo, Susie

  24. So GLAD TO HEAR THIS NEWS!!--that they found a match.Celebrating with ice cream sounds like a great idea! I haven't been to a DQ in ages, LOL, but once in awhile crave a Frosty from Wendy's. DQ is the one with the "blizzards", right?--our kids used to like those. I love a good hot fudge sundae!! Have you tried gelato?--I tried it for the first time this winter and it sure is good.

    1. Debbi, The first time I had gelato was at the Warner Brothers'studia gift shop in California. I totally loved it. We do not have that here in our area. But a small shop in my daughter's town carries it. Yum indeed. We like the DQ blizzards too.
Ted is getting closer to the time of his full day of testing for the transplant. Dr. B is staying on top of his remission and I am so thankful for that. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
