Work, Play, Work.....

This young man is the roofer. I went to school with his father and my girls went to school with Troy.  I stayed home to see about getting some places on the roof fixed , while granddaughter Sierra and Ted went to the Bone Marrow Complex. The high winds had torn many shingles off last weekend. Troy returned my call, even though he was swamped with calls. He came when he said he would. He quoted a real reasonable price and did the job nicely. I paid him what he said, and gave him a tip for being prompt. He also quoted us a great price for a new roof , later this spring.
Layla got a unicorn for her birthday. LOL. She was sick in this picture but still happy. Her Gigi got this for her, knowing she loves them.
Once Layla was much better, she celebrated with a birthday donut...see the four candles.  Cousin Max is looking on .
Then some real play time for the little birthday girl.  She's a giggly happy girl....so I can not think of the germs on these play grounds.
We got some snow. Not much and I am truly thankful. Funny, one drive the snow did not stick too and this front one I had to shovel. Well maybe not had to but did.
Teddy Bear is getting some of his strength back. Not wood chopping strength but fire starter in the shop strength.  He was happy to just be in his shop...and this is an easy thing to do just to be out there.  I see his hair is growing and his mustache is returning.
We are waiting for word form the Bone Marrow doctor. DR. Tandra.  . Ted will go to their facility and get a chemo , before the bone marrow transplant...so our wonderful Dr. Birhiray will not be involved.   I am sure  it's because of it being Franciscan Health and not St. Vincent's.
Please keep Ted in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you dear blog family. XO

  4. Oh, Layla likes unicorns! I am really into them, Susie, since I have granddaughters now. And I see them everywhere! This is a cute picture of Layla playing with hers. Isn't that funny that we sometimes come across the sons and daughters of the people we went to school with? That was nice that he came right over to fix your roof. All that snow covering your porch is a beautiful sight, Susie. It's so good to see Ted back in his workshop again. I bet this picture does your heart good. Still keeping him in my prayers, and you as well, dear friend.

*I wish you would frame that picture of Layla sometime. It really is precious. : )

    1. Thank you my sweet friend. We truly are grateful for your pryaers and kind words. Sheri, this morning when Ted took his shower and was getting ready to go for his labs..I saw his hair was growing and I him, "hey your hair and mustache is coming back. " He just laughed about it. I saw the cutest unicorn coloring book at the $ store...so I may have to get that for Layla. LOL. It's wonderful to see those sweet little ones , isn't it? Hope you get to hug and squeeze yours. Blessings to all, love you, xoxo, Susie

    2. Susie, thanks for letting me know about the burls. Someone else mentioned that as well, but I didn't know it may be from an injury or fungus. I wonder why they don't cut it down; maybe cause it's so old. I love the trees, especially unusual looking ones like this.

Yes, I got to see Francesca last weekend! It really did my heart good. She's already walking and Jess has to keep an eye on her all the time. She's so funny. Thanks for stopping by, dear friend. I appreciate it. :)

  6. I love seeing Ted back in his shop!! It's hard to believe that real life goes on even in the midst of a health crisis. You do well in staying involved with everything. I have a tendency to freeze up and not move. That does no one any good. Praying and praying that Ted gets a good report and always praying for you, our Sweet Susie Q!

    1. Jeanie, I was so scared when I saw some shingles off our roof near the vent cap. So I knew that had to be repaired. This young man talked so polite and kind. I laughed when he said people should always call someone in their home town..that way if you have trouble it's easy to find them. LOL. Don't you love that. I knew with rains coming soon, we did not need a leaky roof...I could not take that on top of our busy time with Ted's treatments. Which I am praying will be soon. Thank you for your sweet words. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  11. Good to see Ted in his shop. You all are still in my thoughts and prayers. We did get snow....too much for me when I’m longing for warmth and color!! Usually March snow disappears quickly but not this time....daytime temps in the 20’s will keep it around for awhile longer.
    Take care, Susie!

    1. Usually when people get roofers, they truly need them...can not just let the rain, snow and ice in your home...so they can pretty much charge what they like. I am thankful Troy was reasonable. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  21. I'm so glad you were able to get your roof fixed. We need a new roof badly. We haven't gotten any quotes yet. When we bought the cottage almost 30 years ago, we put a new one on to the tune of $9,000. I can't even imagine how much it will be now. My thoughts are with you and your sweet hubby and family. The littles are so cute..Happy Tuesday..xxoJudy

    1. Judy, All I can say about your roof price...OMG. This young man roofs for a living and has a great reputation. We did not know our roof was so bad.Troy quoted us less than 1,000 for tear off, put new roof( better 30 year shingles), clean up, and haul away. I guess I better sign up for that now. I told him word of mouth is a great advertisement and I will be talking him up. Because I always slam the man that did my roof when we lived in town.He just kept adding things onto the bill and never finished the job. Not a nice man at all.
Thank you for the good thoughts for us. We are still waiting..some times I just can't breathe , so scared. We love our wee ones here. I just wish I could hug one of them when I feel sad. Blessings to you. Stay safe , xoxo, Susie
