Thursday started nice enough. Ted had an appointment with his bone marrow doctor. His labs showed that his counts are in the normal range....hooray for that. One test showed he had to be taken off one of the water pills for a few days. He will have a lab work here in Tipton and the results will be faxed to Dr. Tandra at the bone marrow clinic. They will call to let us know when to resume that water pill. Ted's hemoglobin is 8.8 , it should be between 13 and 17. We feel things are looking up.
Last week there was a free ice cream fair for cancer survivors. The nurse said Ted's doctor went to the little treat wagon twice. LOL.
When my daughter Liz sent this picture to Ted and I , we talked about it with pride. It's our granddaughter Emma at her job. She works at a little sandwich shop in her town.
This picture did indeed make me cry. Emma , my little crafting buddy, baking pal, over night slumber girl, is giving a thumbs up pose.....she just got her beginner's permit to learn to drive. Where did the time go? I feel time is cruel in many ways. We can never get it back. Please hang on to your children and grandchildren tightly....they are growing up .
Oh yes, this picture made me almost want to cry...but what can one do??? Our AC gave out and with Ted having a bone marrow transplant we are not allowed to use fans...we have to have AC, so this is the new unit put in two days ago.
Our household luck is as bad as it can get. New roof, new water heater, a furnace repair in the month of Feb. and now a new AC unit. The household account is running out.
We are just so thankful to all of you for your healing prayers. I will keep you posted about what Ted's next lab work shows. He is still low on energy, but the lab counts should start to change that soon. Sure hope so. Thank you everyone for the prayers. Blessings. XO
Oh Susie, I'm so thankful for the good news about your husband, and sympathize with your feelings about kids growing up, and truly sympathize with you about the house issues. It always seems to be something, whether it's our health, or our house or our kids!! That young Emma is lovely and maybe she will drive you around when she gets that license! Hang in there and don't give up. Praying for those lab counts to change.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nonnie. Yes, I tease the young grandkids about driving me around...Ted calls it driving Miss Lazy. LOL I keep praying Ted gets his strength built back up. We have come a long way and still have a way to go yet. I am so grateful for the prayers, they give us hope. Blessings to you and DH, hope all is well there. xoxo, Susie
DeleteThat is just the best news! My grandson graduates high school today, so I know what you mean lol congratulations to your grand daughter for getting her drivers permit, where do the years go for sure, keeping you all in my prayers,,
ReplyDeleteThank you sweet Laurie. I know you are happy for your grandson , I bet you secretly wish for some old days play time.:):) will let everyone know how Teddy does with his labs. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI know you are thankful for each day! Sending you our love and keeping up the prayers! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane. We are so thankful for your prayers and good wishes. Can you believe Emma is learning to drive. Wow my time has taken wing. Blessings to you, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteSusie, First know that I am sending you hugs and prayers. I try to check often, but I have been pulled out of retirement for a part-time job so I don't have quite the time I like to do everything. So many things have to be done when you are the caregiver with not only your other half, but the home and everything else. Our grand kids grow up much to fast. My oldest just turned 20, another one will soon turn 15 and the youngest will soon be 14. They do grow up much to fast. I know you worry which is natural. We will just keep praying that everything keeps improving. It is a slow process. Hugs and prayers from your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteHi Shirley, I am so glad to hear from you. I wondered about you when I heard of all the flooding. Praying is normal for me. Some times it seems I am praying all day. :) Of course God may be happy to hear from me. I surely do hope so. Care giving is a tough non ending job truly. It's hard to ask for help too. I hope you are enjoying your life. I know you love your grandkids and see them growing...so you understand my sadness of time slipping away. Blessings to you my sweet friend. xoxo, Love,Susie
DeleteIt is truly a blessing that Ted is getting good reports. I will keep you in my prayers. Asking God to supply all your need.
ReplyDeleteOh thank you so much Karen. I am so very thankful for every prayer. I hope to see a big improvement in Ted's energy level soon. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
Deleteyou can not possibly be old enough to have a granddaughter that will be driving, she is adorable!!
ReplyDeletei am so happy to hear that things are looking up for ted, i will keep him in my thoughts as i am sending happy thoughts your way!!!
Thank you Debbie. Oh yes, I am old. Emma is our youngest granddaughter. :) But thanks for being so nice. :) I have caught myself calling all young people honey...so I guess that means I am officially old. LOL. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood news and just take one day at a time.
ReplyDeleteThank you Betty. It is hard to remember the one day at a time thing...but I sure am trying. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThe advice to take one day at a time is the best advice. Don't worry about things you can't control, like things going wrong at the house. Anything that can be fixed by a repairman isn't worth worry!! Enjoy every second with Ted and be thankful for every bit of good news. My prayers continue!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Robbin. I appreciate your prayers. I had to worry about all the repairs..as they were things we needed. Got the roof done before it actually started to leak into the house. If if was any other sickness or surgery..we may have been able to use fans for cooling. But with the bone marrow transplant they say fan can blow around dust and germs. So yes, had to have the AC. I am thankful for Ted's good results so far. I hope you will continue to pray for us. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteOh Susie, this is such good news about Ted. Yes, enjoy your time and try your best not worry about the other stuff. I need to take my own advice I know cause we've had some household issues as well but God is and will take care of it all. Yes, those kids are all growing up and it does hit us grandparents hard too. All of ours are out on their own now and we don't get to see them as often and like you we have our sweet memories to keep us going. I tell everyone also to hold them tight while they are little. Prayers are continuing for you both. Big Hugs and much Love. xo
ReplyDeleteTahnk you so much Susie. I know you truly understand about our children and grands. We can not keep them little...so we must love them and hold them while we can. Oh yes, so thankful for Ted's good results. Praying he will stay in the top with his recovery. Praying you are having some good days there Susie. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, love you, Suie
DeleteSounds like his labs were pretty good, I'm so glad to hear that!!----and I hope the counts on that one get better...and quick!! OH my goodness, that's horrible about all the home repair things y'all have been hit with...not fun, so expensive!! Dang--hope that part calms down! Thinking of y'all today and hope y'all have a real nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Debbi. I am so grateful for everyone good wishes and prayers. Ted has been a great fighter to do so well. I am hoping things start looking up this next week, with the hemoglobin and the pills they took away for a few days. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie
DeleteCongrats to her on the permit.
ReplyDeleteAdam, Look around you at the little ones in your family...they are growing and will be doing a thumbs up too, one day all too soon. . LOL Bless you, xoxo, Susie
DeleteSusie,
ReplyDeleteOh my, I know about the bad luck. This happened to us not long ago. It was kind of like "what next!"
Sending prayers!
I do appreciate your shout out about us holding on to our kids and grandkids, you are right on, it goes so fast.
Love, Carla
Thank you Carla, for your prayers and understanding . We appreciate the prayers so much. As for the understanding, I hate that you had similar situations...Ted did say what more can happen here. Then he looked out and an electrical pole was leaning into our trees. LOL...Hope we do not have to pay for the new pole they set the same day of our AC unit being put in. LOL Blessings to you, I know your boys grew up too soon too. xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteSounding good! Ted is doing great, but that AC...oh bother! Seems as if it is always something. Well God is in the details, too. Praying it all gets resolved as economically as possible.
ReplyDeleteHi Vee, Oh I do think about those bad things like the furnace, the water heater, etc, etc. Thankful God allowed us to repair them before more damage could arise from it all. Oh Vee, I am praying Ted will be fine and dandy soon. Although after the labs he has to return to the drs. clinic on Monday for more test. Blessings to you honey, you are in my prayers, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGlad things are working out and you got a new AC. Your granddaughter is adorable and yes, they grow up so fast. One of our grandsons just got a job at Costco.. Tristan is the only grandchild now that is not either out of highschool, in college or married. How can that be!!!
ReplyDeleteWanda, Your statement about Kristan made me laugh, he is just a little guy , right? Emma is our youngest grandchild. We have great grands now. Funny thing Wanda the AC has only ran one day after being put in. It cooled off to chilly morning temps lately. I love it. Teddy goes to his drs. tomorrow for a sooner check...till he is off some meds or they get better regulated...these sudden appts can happen. Still we are thankful to God and all the kind people praying for us. You and Don are in my prayers. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteThe kids just grow up too fast, don't they:( Praying for Ted and YOU! Day by day, he will get back to his normal way of life... praying!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much Theresa. Your prayers are so welcomed here. :) I thank you for them also. Ted has an up dated check due tomorrow. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie, Keeping you and Ted in my prayers. Awful about the air conditioner and all the other repairs. The building I live in is over 100 years old and I am grateful every day that doesn't have some issue. Take good care!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteGlad Ted's numbers are showing improvement. Prayers for more good news and continued healing. Our little grands do grow quickly and I feel even with my two younger they are growing up too fast. Been thinking about you and praying for both you and Ted. Have a great new week.
Hugs,
Kris
Susie, so glad to hear Ted is home, I truly believe one heals much faster when their at home. So nice to have family, your daughters are so thoughtful. And I’m with you those grandchildren grow up way too fast. (Even I can’t believe Emma has a job and a learners permit!). My prayers continue you for both of you.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Gert
I'm glad to hear Ted is doing good, Susie. Oh, Emma has a job at the sandwich shop - she's already working! And she got her driver's permit! I'm sorry to hear all the appliances are breaking down. It's not a good time at all for this to happen, and especially with Summer coming. It sounds like you will be needing lots of repairs. Thank you for the updates on Ted. I still say prayers for you and him, Susie.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting hot here and just trying to stay cool. Nel is driving back to California, and she's on the road right now! It will be a week long trip, but she'll see many states along the way.
Love you, girl.
~Sheri
Hi Susie, I'm happy to hear Ted is doing well! Congrats to Emma with all her new endeavors! Sending you Prayers and hugs!
ReplyDeleteThere is so much to coordinate in this work of bringing your Ted back to health, isn't there? Your head must sometimes spin with the logistics of it and thank God for medical staff who are diligent in caring for him and others. But that AC, oh no! But absolutely vital so had to be handled quickly. I'll add to my prayers for you two "no more house repairs."
ReplyDeleteSusie, I'm glad to hear Ted is doing better. Such a hard and scary time for both of you. When I wake up in the middle of the night Ted comes to mind and I pray for him. And for you, too. I know how you feel about Emma growing up. My Emma just graduated from high school in May and will enter college in the fall. Oh my, time just flies by so quickly. I remember when she played restaurant with her Papa Jim (my late husband) when she was just a little tike, and it seems like it just happened yesterday. (sigh) Love and hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteJust letting you know y'all are in alot of thoughts and prayers my friend. Stay strong!!! Here's a big hug for ya!!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear that Ted is doing better. Having gone through cancer treatments with our daughter back in the 90’s I know there are a lot of ups and downs. Boy when it rains it pours. Too bad about all the household needs that have cropped up. Well on the brighter side you won’t have to deal with those issues again anytime soon! Please take care of yourself too while all this is going on. Prayers for Ted!
