When It's Cold.....

Well it was cold for some days. Some fierce winds with low temps...you know making it even colder. So it was time for corn muffins and bean stew. That's 3 or 4 different kinds of beans with diced onions ,potatoes., and ham. Makes a nice dinner.
Days where the sun did shine  with blue skies. I always love seeing the sun especially on cold days. It gives me hope of spring  coming soon. LOL  Oh, I know, I am just too eager.
This is an early morning sunrise.. I love seeing farm storage buildings with the sun behind them.  I truly love being up and about in the early hours of the day.
But then , look at this sunset....so pretty and golden.  :):)  Who would not love this? It has been a wonderful holiday season. Well once my back started feeling better. I am thanking my Lord for that.  It helps me be able to get thru some other tough things.
Ted has been getting his chemo maintenance this week. Not yesterday the place was closed. So he will go one day next week., to fit five doses into his schedule.  Then in two weeks he will have two dr. appointments.  The week after chemo is hard for him, he is so drained , it seems.
I am praying that you all had a lovely holiday  too.  Also that  this New Year will be kind to all of us.  XO

  1. There is nothing as good as hot soup on a cold winter's day. You need something that warms you through and through and hot soup and stew in perfect. Yours looks so yummy :)
We are going through the chemo thing, too and a new medication that is making Steve dizzy and nauseated. We are waiting right now to hear from the doctor on what to do about it. The pharmacist said out to stop them after starting without talking to your doctor.
Wouldn't be me amazingly wonderful to just be able to go back to our old everyday life again :)
God bless you both, you're both in my prayers.
    Connie :)

    1. Connie, I know it hurts you to see your Steve in that condition. It bothers me about Ted's weakness after chemo. Our men were so strong and now they have to let us care for them. Hoping God will let them become healthier soon , that all the meds help them recover. I pray for you both too. I have many left over for us since we had our gathering this past weekend. Saves cooking time. :):) Our kids were so good to us too. You know the food gift cards. Bob Evans and D.Q. LOL. Blessings to you, hold on to your faith. Love you, xoxo, Susie

If the back and neck are out of whack then it's BAD! Hope Ted is having some good days. Praying for you both. Happy New Year to you all. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

    1. Thank you Cindy. We always are grateful for prayers. I truly believe in their power. Ted does have really good days , then he will have a few of the slow achy days that he can't do anything but sit and watch TV. He will work crosswords too. We never seem to run out of anything to talk about or that will make us have a good laugh. That helps us so much. Blessings to you and yours, xoxo, Susie

  6. I'm so sorry you've had more back problems. I wish there was a nice neighborhood teenager who would volunteer to help with snow shoveling. I know that neither you or Ted needs to be doing that now. The holidays always throw off chemo treatments for patients, I remember from our son-in-law's treatment.

Your bean soup sure sounds good! I try to use legumes all the time. I remember my grandmother talking about soup beans when she cooked dried beans. I wasn't crazy about it when I was a child but I love them now. Susie, I pray with all my heart that 2020 will bring only the best to you and Ted!

I ate alot of soup beans growing up. I just can't do those dried beans...so I use those from a can, I also added some sliced carrots for color. LOL The corn muffins make it more of a meal to me. Bless you and yours, stay safe. xoxo, Susie

  7. Praying for 2020 .. we have many changes coming ahead for us in 2020. Our youngest graduates from High School. We are starting to plan for our future as empty nest and thinking of selling our house in the next few years.
My best girl friend is fighting cancer. She will have a mastectomy and hysterectomy on Thursday.. then chemo .. then radiation. She is 46 years old and has an aggressive cancer. Our boys grew up together. They are the best of friends, she has two boys and I have two boys.

If you have time, please share with me good things I can do for Lori or send Lori during this time that helped your family. Thank you so much.

  8. Oh I did have a wonderful holiday season and I’m in no hurry to say goodbye to Christmas so am hanging on through Monday, much to my daughter’s chagrin.

It is so good to know that your back is feeling better. Life is better without pain.

That first week after chemo is a challenge. Hope that Ted takes it easy and does only what he feels up to. I know that I don’t feel up to much of anything that week. Now, I have treatments, but no chemo. I still feel tired that first week, but I’ll be back up to snuff soon.

Sounds as if your holiday was just wonderful. Family is a great blessing and helps so much with love and support.

Many blessings in 2020 to you and all your family!

    1. Hi Vee. Thank you for the good wishes. I pray for you to be on top of the world soon too. Yes, Ted is tired and winded easily after the chemo, then his strength will return slowly. He just watches TV, does puzzles. We talk about when we worked at the same job sites, then we laugh about the craziness of some things. It does us both good to laugh, even if it's silly.
Today we joined my daughter, her son , his wife and baby for lunch. It was another great day...then Ted had to get to his chemo. He has one tomorrow and then on Monday . Blessings to you, stay strong, keep your faith. Oh yes, here's hoping 2020 is good for all of us. xoxo, Susie

But it took almost a month and a half for me to feel good again. I still thank God, I sure never want to be that bad again. Ted had his fifth dose of this round of chemo today. He goes back next Monday to see the N.P. and she will set up his next round, probably the first week of Feb. Debbi, this is the craziest weather.
