Crops have pretty much been harvested. We had a few days of rain. Today has been cold. I had the furnace man here yesterday. He has my heat going.
It' Fall for real now. A month ago we had lots of festivals in our state. When I think of pumpkins, I always recall when Ted and I would pass this house , a couple towns to the east of us. I was amazed at a pumpkin hooked up to a block and tackle. I have not been by this house this year. I wondered if they still grew these huge pumpkins and melons.
I miss my Ted and the great life we had. We traveled a lot . Now I rarely go 50 miles from home. I will wish all of you a good Autumn. Be safe and hold your loved ones tight. OXOX
Susie, I am so glad to see your post here! I love pumpkins but those great big ones remind me of myself after Thanksgiving. LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, You could never be a big old pumpkin!! I Tell my girls I am still working to lose that same ten lbs for the past 3 years. I have been thinking of calling it training weights. LOL Pray you are well and enjoying life. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie, So glad to see your post. It's turned to fall in New York and it's getting darker way too early for me. Take care, my friend.
ReplyDeleteButtercup, I know that same dread of losing the sweet long light of summer. Plus I seem to be cold all the time. Try your best to keep warm and sit by the window for light when you can. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteAlways a thrill to see that notice of 'She junks'.. sweet. good read, and pics. I cannot imagine your feelings. And hope I never have to. I think of Ted myself. WE have been so blessed. We know you guys were in LOVE. Thinking of you and I know he would want you to forge forward, when needed, I know I would for my Sherry. Love you girl, now enjoy the furnace and the fall.
ReplyDeleteSending LOVE your way...
Hello Jack, I know you are going to be warm this winter hugging your sweetheart. Squeeze her for me. The fellow who checks my furnace is the son of my long time friend. He always says he loves me when driving away. LOL That puts a smile on my face. Heading off to the Legion here soon to bingo. Rarely win so I call it donating. :):) Blessings, xoxo, Love you guys, Susie
DeleteLovely to see a post from you! I hope you are keeping well. I'm glad you got your furnace checked and the heating turned on for those chilly fall days. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteDear Bless, I pray for all my blogging friends. I may not post much at all. But then who knows maybe one I will learn more to talk about. Hope you had a beautiful summer. I did have the most roses ever this year. Take care. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteI miss the Halloween House north of us. It was an Original 3 story Victorian home where the owners did awesome Halloween displays. They did not do it this year so not sure what happened. Those pumpkins are huge. I dont think I have ever seen one like that in person. We had much needed rain here but our leaves have not really started to changed. Hope they do. Janice
ReplyDeleteHi Janice, I am amazed at the decorations people put out for Halloween. I hope they take them down when it's over....know what I am saying ?Take care and enjoy this Autumn. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi Susie! Wow! Those pumpkins are unbelievable! I have one that is too big for me to lift, but not THAT big. I pray for comfort for you as you miss your Ted and I also pray for what the good Lord has up ahead for you, dear one.
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie, I know that God still loves me and will one day let me be with all my loved ones. I did not buy any pumpkins this year. I made a bunch once from old sweaters and gave them away when I moved here. I have a tiny one on the table top, with a witch hat and that 's my decorations. LOL Enjoy all the up coming holidays. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHappy Falll to you! Here where I live in Texas, It still looks like and feels summer.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to still have some warmth in October. I am praying for a mild winter. I say it's bad enough o have to stay in in Winter. But honestly our year has been very wet in spring, very hot in summer and so buggy all year... Be safe , as I hear bad weather is coming thru your state. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteGood to hear from you! Wow what big pumpkins. I wonder how many pies you can get from one of them? I love that 2nd photo of yours with the crops harvested. We’re just starting to see the leaves change on certain trees; seems they all have their own timeline. Stay cozy and enjoy the beautiful Fall when it settles in completely. Take care. ❤️
ReplyDeleteHi Debby, I wondered the same about how many pies from that big pumpkin, haha. Yesterday and today are pretty here but sure need a jacket. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi, Susie!! Glad to see you're well and warm this cold but sunny day! We've been granted some lovely sunshine lately (and the only BAD WIND the day my Sis was here from Texas and ran for the basement when she saw the trees nodding to the ground).
ReplyDeleteI think of you often, living so close up there where my DEAR DIL was raised, and wonder what lovely Indiana Fall wonders you're seeing and attending. I SO understand that missing and longing---these Five Years and Ninety-One days since my Chris whispered away from us have been counted, like pearls on a string, for every day we have missed together.
But OH, the memories of that happy, kind, sweet man are so warm and enduring that they survive any cold, any weather, anything that besets in life without him. The Lord giveth such sweet memories to sustain us, and I'm smiling right now.
Hoping your days are all sunny, with your own treasured smiles,
r
Sweet Racheld, Sending you a hug, the longing never ends.We were loved and our husbands would want us to find joy again. I am trying by always being kind to others. Even biting my tongue in some tough times. LOL. Today I have thought about love. It's is the most power up lifting feeling...yet things can make love , an agonizing pain, when lost. Wishing some joyful sweet days to you, my friend. We have to keep going. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
DeleteSo glad to see a post from you and love the pretty pictures. Things are still not harvested here, Iike the cotton. The 🥜 peanuts are still in the fields and The Winter crops are planted like cabbage, kale, and broccoli 🥦 .
ReplyDeleteI have seen cotton fields after harvest , it seems like major lint is left behind. We many have wheat, corn and soybeans around here. This year the beans have been so dry, when harvested ,it appears to be a dust cloud moving across fields, so dense you can not see the combine. Blessings to you. xoxo, Susie
DeleteYou leave your home? You're an adventurer. I hardly step out the door. It's even cooling off in Florida, but we don't need to turn on the furnace.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Honey, I go to music groups and 4-H bingo and legion bingo. To my daughters homes and visit. No vacations any more. Stay safe there . Blessings, xoxo, Susie
DeleteHi, Susie! Very rarely do I check in with Blogger anymore. I’m so glad I did today! Love seeing a post from you! We have had some cooler temperatures here, though no frost yet. Take care! Sending love and hugs! Nellie
ReplyDeleteOh I thought of you just two days ago. Thank you for love and hugs. I was thing of the time I told you if I lived near you, I would walk past your house just to smell what ever you might be cooking. Since going to music groups, I have had to learn to cook again to take dish to our pitch ins. Thankfully people have asked me for recipes and to make certain things again. LOL Too dang funny. I have to tell them my recipe for sweet and sour slaw belongs to my grocery store. LOL Take care my dear friend and be safe. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
