Treasure Mart.....

    You can see the sign and the truck that says this is the original Treasure Mart.  This building used to be a printing factory , many, many years ago.

  They have installed new windows. That is how they cool the place by opening the windows. I got a bit over heated on the second floor so there was no way I was going any higher. :):)

 I do not know how long this building is. It is full of antiques and junk and just about anything a person could want.

 I absolutely love the exposed brick walls. When you look up, the ceiling is actually the floor joists and beams of the next floor.

  I love just looking at things. Some things are really over priced. But many thing are affordable for anyone.  They were serving free sweet tea , fruit punch and cookies for anyone wanting them. I thought that was a nice touch to get people into the building to shop.

I had to take time to admire the huge posts and floor joists of this old building. I am so glad it has been saved and repurposed.
  Today Ted and I got to that hickory tree we lost. I finally had to call it quits for me. Too hot and I took a shower, made tea and had Ted take two breaks .  The neighbor man said we could put all our limbs on his back lot's burn pile. So I went to his house and raked up all the apples that blew off his trees. Oh my goodness that was  more than a wheelbarrow of apples.  So my arthritic ankles are done for today.

Storm Damage....

   We lost our front yard hickory tree. Our only major shade tree in front. See my daughter's husband's truck. Kathy stayed all night here. We lost power for over 5 hours.  I am still so thankful that the tree did not fall on the truck..it fell the other way. Plus It did not fall on the house or garage/shop.  It did also take out the juniper tree by the flag pole. Bent the flagpole to the east a bit.

This is a before shot, you can see how tall it was. We can not save it, the main trunk is broken . The neighbor lost half of one of his apple trees. The storm hit at 2:00 , the power and the tree both went at 2:15.  There's trees down all over town. They were showing pictures on the news broadcast this morning. I am ever so thankful the power is back on.
   Ted and I will have plenty of work this coming week.  Of course he will save the hickory wood for burn ...maybe around February . It has to season.

Going Junking....

   My daughter Kathy is coming for a quick visit . We are going to the Treasure Mart . Major junking site. Three stories of junk and antiques.  This is a photo of another time when we had a day of junking fun. Today's weather isn't that pretty. The sun did pop out for a brief showing.  Flash flood warning around the state. Praying for all to be safe.
     Kathy is a crafter and loves recycling old things into something useful or pretty. She also makes jewelry and can sew out of this world. She's been sewing for years. Actually made her own wedding dress years ago.  She and her DIL have that in common...they both love fashion and sewing.  If I buy anything interesting I will post a photo.

Friday With Rain....

   First there was Monday, Wednesday, Thursday with rain. LOL.  We did not have rain on Tuesday, although it was forecasted.  No sitting out today.

 The hydrangeas are blooming.  The plant is a nice size,  but so far not many flower heads.

  The lilies are loving the rain.

 

 The Japanese maple is doing very well.  The one near the road, not so much. I think it got some over spray from the farmer's field , across the road.

 We lost a huge limb is the winds yesterday. It was from the willow tree and lots of sticks from the hickory. So The burn pile is full again and the lean to has more for the burn pile. But the yard is cleaned up.
 That was a lot of picking up sticks and bending over, doing squats......and that was after I did an hour of Zumba Silver in my daughter's class , she's the instructor. It was the first time I have tried that class . I was sweating like mad when I was finished. I told some of the ladies, "Jump into the car and roll down the window and I'll drive us all around with our heads hanging out." Quick cool down.  Just kidding them of course.  Angie did a cool down stretch period for the class.

Bouquet Of Lilies....

     I cut some lilies yesterday and made this bouquet.  I put them in an old milk bottle.  I love using the bottle as a vase.  I put it on the table on the porch, so I could enjoy it while outside yesterday.  Ted and I did get to sit a while on the porch.  Yesterday was plenty warm...but not as hot and humid as it had been. Today we are having rain.  Actually rain is forecasted for the next few days.  The rain and heat is making things grow. The corn across the road is going to be knee high by the 4th of July, as the old saying goes.
   Today is always a long day for me.  So I am planning on taking things out of my closet and donating.  It's been needing it for a long time.  It I take out a dozen things that is a far as I normally get in cleaning closets. Maybe if I get photos of the donations , I'll do better. LOL. Wish me luck.

Anniversary....

 My granddaughter Lynzie and her husband Mark are celebrating their first year of marriage.  I just sent them a card with some money to go to dinner on papaw and me.  Now they have told me they are expecting their first child in December. I am excited for them.  They will be wonderful parents. They are both so loving and kind.   I sure never get to see my grandchildren as much as I would like. You know they are busy working and making a life for themselves.
 I had  some running to do today, got that done. Ted and I had lunch out. So I just had  some laundry to do and my chores for today were over.  Hope you day was a very good one. XO

Library....

   This is along side of our library. I love the grounds there, although it's limited. Around the corner at the end of this path is a pergola with a seating area. So sweet. Smells so good with the scent of the pines.

 This is a seating area in the front. The sculpture was made by our art teachers at the local high school. This is a shady breezy spot to sit.  A nice place to sit and enjoy your coffee from the Subway sandwich shop.  I pulled these photos off my files. I have not been to the library for some time now.  I was going to take art classes there this past fall...but they were always later than I wanted to take them.   Hope all of you have a great library and enjoy visiting it.
