Is It Summer Yet????

  Yesterday evening this is how the wind was blowing, see the flag. Over the corn between the woods and the group of three trees is our town of Tipton. We are in for rain.

   This is the view to the south.  It was raining with lightening just south of that long cloud.

   There is a patch of blue in the west.  So I can see the sun is shining somewhere. LOL

  This is the view over head. More scattered storms, rain, hail, winds, with bits of sunshine.  A major heat index today and tomorrow.  Temperature approaching 100 and the heat index well over.  So where is our summer ?   I think we may have had 15 days since May that we have not had rain or the threat of it.  With the ground saturated we are having flooding, some of which is flash flooding when there's a dumping of heavy rains in a short time.  I am praying for a dry spell.  Sad that some of this rain can't be happening in the western states.
  I have to find something fun to do today.  It will be indoors. Take care if it's hot where you live, stay hydrated.  Do not over do where the temperatures are soaring.  That's my mommy advise to all of you...gaaa, I can't seem to help myself.:):) Enjoy your weekend. XO
   

Today Is Teddy Bear's Birthday.....

   Look what a glorious morning we had. The sun is just coming up and the skies are beautiful.

   Got our morning paper, did a couple puzzle over fresh coffee.

   Then we went to the Stihl store to get Ted's new tool. Here he is after he just trimmed some limbs from the remaining part of the hickory tree. He wanted  this Pole saw/ extender to be able to reach places.

  Here are the limbs on the ground. He did clean it up.

  The extender is in the center here and the saw is at the end.

 This is the motor part that Ted bought with his weed whacker. It fits the whacker and the saw.  So Ted is a happy birthday boy now.   While we were out we went to lunch , had chicken, broccoli and cheesecake.  Had to have cake for Ted's birthday.LOL. We had some laughs and good conversation.
 I left Ted outside ...hope he is not cutting things , just to be cutting...know what I mean??  I am sure he'll trim every low hanging limb in our yard.

Hostas.....

   My Emerald green hostas is in bloom. I need to split this hosta as it is getting plenty big.

  These hostas under the tree used to be one big Dark green hosta. I split it into 4 and planted it around the poplar tree.

  The mums are blooming out too. This is one of my favorites, the dark burgundy.

 The black eyed susan is doing fine too.  I have not been in the bed to cut any bouquets because of the mosquitoes. I would have to fog them.  I will not be washing windows any time soon, because of the bugs in the flower beds. 
  Ted is having a birthday soon . We are going to go for a day trip. Go antiquing and out to lunch.  I have some kohl's buck I could spend on him. LOL.  There's a tool extender he is want for his weed whacker/chain saw....that will be what I get him for his gift. The man loves tools. I used too till I retired...now not so much. :):) Shh don't tell that I told this...Ted had one of those saws on his extender  before and the saw kept jamming,  and Ted threw it down and bend the dickens out of his tool extender. Hmmm??
  No rain today...hooray. Hope your day is good too. XO

A Real Summer Day...

     Today the neighbor man was picking apricots. He yelled over to come and get some of them. The wind had knocked plenty off the tree yesterday.  You can see he has them piled under the tree...that will be a gnat fest later. LOL.

  There's so many on this little tree, they look so pretty. Totally organic...meaning maybe a worm or ant here and there.

  I brought in and washed these. Just enough to taste them. Mike said I could pick more for a pie if I liked. I think the apricots look very pretty with my picnic  cloth on the table.

  This is the way the skies looked today. I love those puffy clouds and blue skies.  Corn has tasseled in the back ground.

  Looking down the road. Some of the clouds are having some gray ....that means possibly more rain .later.  I would love a week of blue skies and sunshine.

 The marigolds are blooming near the mailbox.  As I opened the mailbox to get our mail, my hair stood straight up...there was one of those big black hairy spiders on the mail. YIKES!! Where's my gun?? I still have goose bumps on my scalp, just thinking of it. I got the broom from the porch and swept him out of the box. Good-bye hairy beast ! Why do the bugs and spiders want to torment me? LOL
   Hope all of you are having some sunny days this summer. I heard on the news school will start in about 5-6 weeks. Unreal.  All of us better live it up, kids. XO

Brunch & Weather....

   I was the first to arrive for our monthly brunch with classmates. The waitress had our table all set and brought me water and coffee as soon as I sat down. :):)

  This is what it looked like when I was coming home. My pictures are out of order. LOL This is called a shelf cloud. I think my grandson, Korey,  with his meteorology degree would be proud of me.  This did bring lots of rain, some lightening and winds. It went through here without damage.

This is an old picture of one of our gatherings. I look like one of the tall ones, actually I am not so tall, 5'4"... There were twelve of us there today. So interesting , listening to tales of their  lives and extended families. We are happy to be walking and able to enjoy each others' company. Some  are in better shape than others. We count our blessings.
   Hope you are having better weather, maybe some sunshine.  This nasty weather keeps the bugs around the doors, and I hate when one comes in the house. :(  I am an O.C.D. fly smacker. :):)  ewee.

Things I Had To Have....

    When I went to Horton's French Market, this is what I bought. A little pillow with an Indiana shaped  cutout sewn on it.  A wedding card that says, "Happily Ever After Begins Today", I bought two of these as my two step grandchildren are both getting married next month.

  This is the back side of the pillow . Loved the gray/ off white chevron stripes. Looks a bit creamy colored with my lighting.  The soul mates sign, yes I got two of those for the soon to be newly wedded couples. :)

   A young lady was selling re-worked clothing , jewelry and these buttons. She made the buttons herself. I got them for my daughter Kathy. She will make something cute with them.  Also a little leather bracelet with horses stamped on it.

  I had to have two packages of crafting papers and cutouts.  These will be wee gifts also.

 I love this little wreath. A cloth rose corsage, that can actually be pinned onto a purse or hat. I thought it would be nice in my hair at the nape of the neck. The Horton's wrapped anything bought from them in this pretty toile tissue paper. Then put into a nice brown bag with carrying handles. Most of what I bought is for gift giving.  The wreath and rose are for me.  I will be going back to the Horton's store thru this coming week. If I pick up any more treasures I will show all of you.:):)
  Today some in our state are fighting flooding....again ! Our ground here in Indiana is saturated. We can not handle much more rain . The fields are standing in water, farmers losing crops. I will have them in my prayers today.  Hope today is a good day for all of you. XO

A Bit Of Horton's French Market.......

  This is the front window display.  Laundry?? An old fashion wooden ironing board.  Under slips hanging on the line. Sorry a lot of morning glare on the window.

  This is the beautiful Donna Reyne' , she is the very reason I have a blog.  She is sweet and kind, and has talent for decorating and crafting. She had a booth this year.

 This is some of Donna's things. recycled pictures, lamps, and home made pillows.

  This aqua color is one of Donna's favorites.  She makes these wonderful candles.

  Donna had little white banners draped thru out her booth. It was backed by very old craftsman windows.

  This is the adorable  mother of Mrs. Horton. She makes up bouquets with so many different flowers and add ins....such as cosmos greenery and dill.  She has been doing this every French Market.

 These are a couple of chairs that Mrs. Horton has done herself.  They were  in different areas of the store.  But seem to go together.

This one is in the area where there is usually crafting going on.  So cute.  I can tell you the store was so crowded that you truly could not take pictures or look much.  I managed a few.
  Our town was hopping like I have never seen it. Our county fair is going on at the south of town on the 4-H property. The farmers' market is set up  in a parking lot east of the courthouse. The peddlers market was also happening, west of Horton's. I did not even make it there. Leaving town, in the north end was a motorcycle ride just taking off with the sheriff leading them thru our town. Something for everyone today.
  Oh did I tell you the sun is shining and it is warm-warm-warm !!!  I will show you what I bought tomorrow.  Wishing all of you joy today. XO
