Choir Girls....

      This is Emma and Savannah. They are the daughters of my twin daughters.  Emma is Lizzy's. Savannah is Karen's.  They are singing in the choir today. It will be taking place at their school. There will also be a craft show at the school along with the Christmas concert. This isn't their big concert, just a preview. I am looking forward to hearing them sing and seeing everyone.
   We had plenty of rain since yesterday morning. I am hoping the roads are not flooded in the low spots. I am going to Karen's then we will go to the school and met Liz.  No men along this trip. We will all have a nice lunch together. I am hoping it's at the German Baptist café. They make fresh bread and pies daily. Oh wow, it is good.

Getting There.....

   The tree is up and  decorated.....finally. My word it took me a long time. I will tell you why near the end of this post. I love this skinny fake tree, so easy to assemble. All these ornaments have been with me for a long time. My children made many of them.

 I got my red plaids back out again this year., along with these antique balls.

 This is Father Christmas. My daughter Kathy made her sisters and I one for a gift one year.  She's a very good seamstress.  I should show you the wedding Gown she made herself, when she got her first sewing machine.
  Yesterday I was going to finish the tree and have time to spare....well you all know that old saying ,the best laid plans. So true. My husband had called the repairman to come work on the oven. In the mean time, Ted builds a huge fire in the fireplace, where I am working on the tree. I roasting like chestnut.  The repairman shows up.  I tell him, we have a fire going, please do not let too much LP gas out....he says your home owners is paid, right?   Oh so funny...not at this time.
   I start smelling that LP gas, I tell him and Ted to be careful.  I do not like the smell of gases, I feel kind of ansty, so I put on my coat and start walking outside.  I see my daughter Liz pulling into the shop drive. She and I go in the house..Oh boy, I really smell that gas then and I tell the repairman so. I open windows for the gas to dissipate.  Liz ask me to go to lunch with her, I say "let's go". I wanted out of that smell and I was feeling kind of headachy. Probably stress.
   When we arrive at the café, Ted calls and says the man is gone and he will have to order a part, so the stove gas supply is turned off till maybe Tuesday. More stress.  Proving it is always something.LOL
  After lunch we go back home. So I let Lizzy shop my closet for something to wear to a Christmas party. I let her shop  my cruise wear closet. LOL.    That's where I have my best evening clothes. She left with two new blouses, tags still on , a fur(fake) vest (so in again), and a sweater. She was happy.
   I finished the tree, took a bow, and melted into my chair. I am done ,done, done. :):) Hope you have a fun day today. I have an appointment with my investment people.  Blessings.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town......

    Here's is Santa and Mrs. Claus, as you see she is doing the back seat driving...LOL. This is a little display in the small town north of here. I hope they have it out again this year. 
    I saw an old carcass of some antique truck , on a property that the state was holding all the highway signs on. They are for the new bypass that has gone thru our area. Well , I told Ted that I would love the truck skeleton. He just laughs and says, " why the heck would you want that !!" Well...I would love it for a decorating spot. Think spring with flowers, summer with more flowers, fall with pumpkins gourds and scarecrows.. Of course winter would be lots of holiday decorating such as this old car. :):) The last time we drove by that property, the old truck was gone. Now you know someone is decorating that things as I write this. LOL.
  I tuckered out yesterday, so I have a few more ornaments to put on the tree. I did lots of cleaning and decorating the house . Did laundry , ran to town and back. So my time got away. Time that most precious commodity. The thing of which we never have enough.  That is why I will count my blessings. At least I have decorations, a way to get to town, I don't have to beat my clothes on a rock to clean them.  Yikes, as I always say, I would never have been a good pioneer.

Ornaments.....

 Putting my tree up today. It was up yesterday. But I am decorating it today.  This is my special ornaments for Chicago. One of my favorite towns.

 This is my ornament from NYC.  Another of my favorite cities.  L.A. ,  Charleston , and Boston  are my other favorites.  How do we choose ?  I love many things about many towns.

 This is one of my first ever ornaments. It's from the stone age when I was a teenager.  Those cave men were pretty crafty. LOL I love this angel.  Some times as I decorate , it's a trip down memory lane.  I don't just throw things on the tree, I enjoy a thought of when I got the ornament or who may have gotten it for me.
  Got to get busy here. Enjoy this great day. It's going to be 40 degrees here. Well that's like springtime. May have to take a break from the tree and go out and hang the wreath on the railing.  Hugs for everyone.

This Coming Saturday....

 Horton's in Tipton is having a Christmas market this Saturday. My granddaughters are singing in choir this Saturday at their school. Plus there's a craft show at the school. I want to go to that. It will depend on the weather.

I have got to remember to ask them where this sleigh has gone too. I did not see it during the Christmas preview at the store. I love it. What a treasure to decorate with. I can go to the school on Saturday and maybe hit up the Horton's store later in the week.  I am just now realizing how busy this week is becoming.

Decorations.....

I use this snowman with the fencing to hide the humidifier. It works. We women are good at that.   I am thinking of using gifts to hide the humidifier and putting this fellow on the porch....but then again, old habits are hard to break.

 I will use this plastic cloth for a couple weeks. Because we eat everyday meals here.  Then I get out my nice table cloth. I will change out this centerpiece many times through out the weeks. I like to see different things here, on the table.
  It's a chilly day, but looking good. My oldest daughter's birthday is coming up and I will be taking a few things to her house on that day. So I have to get them ready.
  Hope all of you had a blessed Thanksgiving. I know that sadness did strike a few homes, I am sorry to hear  that. Let's remember our blog friends that are going through tough times.  Keep them in our thoughts and prayers. XO

Time To Put Up Lights......

 Look at this beautiful sky. This is what the weather was like yesterday. Clear sunny skies most of the day. This would be the best time to put up Christmas lights and decorations outside.  I used to do lights, but not any more.  I usually will do things that can last as winter decorations well after Christmas.

 A short trip to town yesterday.  I got a lot of things done this weekend.  While at the grocery, a friend asked me to come to her florist shop and get a form about being a bell ringer for the salvation army. I will go talk with her about this. I would love to do that a few times , to help out....but I may have to have a chair near by . I have a rough time standing for long periods. Especially on concrete walks. It might work out that I could have a chair and still be a bell ringer.
