It's Fun And Work.....

Catching the reflection of the setting sun on the garage/shop.  Thursday started out foggy and cloudy but ended nicely.
This is the same shot this morning (Friday) . It's foggy but the sun is rising to burn the fog off.
I can see the sun come up out front now , at this time of the year.
You can see the fog is kind of thick in this shot.
Celebrating my grandson Korey and his wife Ashley's third anniversary this week.  Here they are standing in the outdoor spot in the mountains , where they were married. They are the most adventurous young couple. Always up for hiking or traveling .
I just had to throw this picture in the mix. On the left is Max at 4 months and on the right is his brother  Luke wearing the same little man outfit .
Sorry this picture seems rather dark...but this is a bit of what Ted and I have done this week. He cut down some dead ash trees. He split the wood and I help him stack it. Once this little area is fully loaded with wood we will be set for winter heating. Burning wood in the fireplace helps heat our home and saves lots of fuel dollars. I am not crazy about it, it's dusty and dirty and work, work, work. LOL Not my dream of retirement. How did I go from lovely lady luncheons, crafting and shopping to being pioneer woman. Gaaaa. Oh yeah, that started when we moved here. I have got to move back into town. :)
Praying for all in need. XO

  1. I have always been a city dweller, even if the town was very small. Love your "little men" photos!

    1. Thank you Karen. I am a city slicker, as it made me crazy to think of all the farmy things we had to do out here. Like listening to the pump pull water from the well..I did not know those new strange noises. LOL. I like town life best...you can take off for a quick walk around a couple blocks any time. Out here it can be risky. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  4. hahaha, you ARE a pioneer woman, and that is a great compliment, Susie. You and Ted have been working hard preparing for winter. I didn't realize that burning wood in the fireplace was so dusty and that much work. That is the cutest picture of Max and Luke. I just want to hug those boys, Susie. And Max is wearing his little bow tie, how cute. Happy Anniversary to Korey and wife. Your foggy day was beautiful. Autumn has arrived in my area and the leaves are changing colors. It's supposed to be in the 80's this week.

    1. Hi Sheri, Oh yes back to the 80's here also. The AC came on this evening...big bummer on that. LOL. I have been loving the quiet of nothing running. Sheri, I thought it was sweet that Lynzie saved that little outfit for Luke to wear after Max had it first. So cute. I want to love on that boys every time I see a photo of them. LOL. Sheri, I have said if the civilization of America had counted on me to pioneer and lead the way ...we would all be back in Europe. LOL I can be tough and carry on...but in my heart, I know I was born to be pampered. LOL. Well that's what I like to tell people....especially Ted. LOL. Blessings for a great fun filled weekend, xoxo, love you, Susie

  8. Great early morning pictures, Susie. We had a lot of fog last night but it has burned off already this morning. We are on UP time today-an hour ahead of our own time.

I hear you on being a pioneer...did that my whole life as a kid/young adult. I am moving closer to town this time! xo Diana

    1. Diana, I know there's more efficient fireplaces than ours...so I think it's messy and big pain at times. I get tired of dusting. I need some cats to spray with endust. LOL...I kind of like a bit of fog...but worry for those who have to drive in it.Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  10. I like your life style...would love to live in the country again and burn wood for heat....love the smell. Yes, have to agree, it's messy but love to watch the fires burn in the fireplace. Love your pictures.....where is your garden???

    1. The only wood I like to smell is pine on campfires. We do not burn that in our fireplace. Too much sap. Louise you asked where was my garden. I have a container of peppers and one of tomatoes. I do not garden. I truly admire people who do. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  11. I had a fireplace in my living room of my last place but I couldn't use it. Still it looked nice. You live a country lifestyle and I live a city lifestyle. This could be why I sometimes think about moving to New Hampshire.
Thank you for all your kind words at my blog.

    1. Boston Boy, I would love a gas-log fireplace. LOL... but then that burns fuel. I am glad you are blogging again, I have missed you. I love when you talk about your Italian folks, the history of your town, the Vineyard. You are way more interesting than you think. :) Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  12. Susie,

Isn't watching the sun "burn off the fog" just a fabulous way to start the day (and a metaphor for a LOT of good emotions as well, I think). And those boys in that smart outfit! How cute, and such a wonderful memory for the side-by-side in an album.

I well remember those great stacks of wood---my boys would spend quite a lot of time cutting every fall, and our fireplace was a lovely part of our home life. It IS repeating that pioneer work, with better tools, but still a bit of history in the chore---that repetition of such old ways and old comforts.

I declare I'm going to get up to Tipton before Fall is over---especially to Horton's---your pictures and descriptions make it such an interesting place. I can smell the cinnamon and eucalyptus from here!

    1. Rachel, It did not take long for the fog to go this morning. Ted loves cutting wood. The log splitter makes it a lot easier. I like to help him when I can. So I will at least stack it . Then carry it in for burning this winter. Horton's is always a fun time. I just hope the weather is good. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
